The Game Awards 2014 Thread: Keighley unveils, less McHales

Fucking Twitch chat is insufferable.

Also, this is some pretty gorgeous music. Sure, not the kind of stuff I'd to go see live, but it's the perfect background music while I play Dragon Age :)

It's not pop-in fools, the world is generating around ony for that split second when entering atmosphere.

My thoughts exactly. Someone enlighten me on what is so revolutionary about it except flying around. Do you have a goal?

EDIT: Not trying to bash, just curious why many find it so appealing.

goal is to reach the center of the galaxy, which they said could take upwards of 50 hours

This was like..the exact same clip as we saw last year and at E3.
It looks cool but how can I say I am impressed? The game sounds like more promise than anything else.

Pop in=

Game is literally creating a random planet right in front of you for fuck sakes.

Yup. They even explained it in the Game Informer piece where they demo a bunch of the behind the scenes tech.

Also, NMS: Gather resources, upgrade guy suit and ship, get closer to centre of galaxy, keep upgrading and exploring, get deeper, hit centre, win (?). You can shoot robots and space ships and animals etc they would just rather show off what makes it unique rather than what makes it the same.

It's because its an awards show, and they are typically long. Its not a quick showing of a bunch of trailers, despite everyone's misguided expectations.
So far this is pretty traditional. Except for the part where Geoff is giving out awards on the side of the stage. That needs to be fixed. Every award should be treated with a walk up and respect.

Liking the music a lot.
