The Game Awards 2014 Thread: Keighley unveils, less McHales

Uh guys? It was a 3-5 min. gameplay demo. 'Course there wasn't much to look at. But that sunset, dem horses, Link has his hood...art direction and graphics wise, it looks solid.

Nintendo revealed this game as if they are the first ones ever to make an open world game. Someone should remind them theyv'e been beaten by many years -- other companies were doing this back while they were still busy regurgitating the same linear handhold zelda games.

That was probably the worst reveal of what should be a huge game I have ever seen. They show it on a TV that takes up 1/3 of the screen. I assume because at this stage it looks like shit? Because it sure looked like shit there. Those textures looked like ass. Big empty world. Terrible.

I think with generous reactions like this they might as well not show a single thing from the game until release day.

OK show, good final number. Too bad about Dragon Age. I'm not knocking its obvious quality, but talk about a safe choice for GOTY.

Loved the grass in Zelda, kinda hated the ground texture, loved the vast landscape, was a bit disappointed by lack of motion swordplay, grew bored of landsca... Holy fuck, wild horses?

(Kisses Wii U)

You're killing me with the Arrow gifs.

Man I'm a diehard Nintendo and Zelda fan, but that footage was really disappointing. Sure it's huge but so barren! Horses looked great though.

Why did it never show us it fullscreen? We know how to play these games, show us the game!

More hyped for Star Fox TBH

But Koji Kondo & Imagine Dragons, who expected this?

I really wish developers would stop with these gyro/motion controls in games ... they never work properly and they're just not an enjoyable part of the experience ...

Edit: I will admit, though, that spray painting in Infamous was OK ...

Yeah man, those Windwaker HD gyro controls were awful!

Oh wait.

Nice to see a local band close out the show. They are playing holiday havoc next Thursday. Going to be a good show since they always have a great turn out here in Vegas.

Gotta love people that judge Zelda on the footage that was shown. The biggest thing you should take away from it, is how different this game is compared to other Zeldas. It's huge in scope, you have so much freedom. Take that with the level of quality of Zelda games and you have some hype right there.

First of all, that was probably the worst display of a game I've ever seen. It's my least favorite Zelda game at this point.

Secondly, this song is the new Zelda theme? This game is going to suck so bad.

Nintendo has lost it, truly.

That was a terrible way to show off Zelda but they probably are going to save the epic trailer for one of their NDs.

What they showed still looked really beautiful though. All that foliage and wildlife is incredible.

Also, what is with Nintendo revealing everything like it is the most boring stuff in the world lately? The first gameplay of their new Zelda and they use some offscreen footage of the developers casually chatting.

That stuff is awesome for Nintendo Directs, but this is a big reveal. You gotta create some hype damnit, this made me go 'looks neat' at best. Same with Star Fox.

Seems like only Smash Bros. knows how to properly hype Nintendo fans nowadays.

Should've left after Kojima. Not a bad show overall, much better than any VGA's, but still far from greatness. At least DA won GOTY and Sierra had a nice retrospective.
