YAKUZA 5 LOCALIZED FOR PS3

Wow. The PS megatons keep dropping! Yakuza, Suikoden 2. What's next, a new Bushido Blade for PS4?

So, I haven't played any of the Yakuza games. From a plot perspective, it is okay to start with 4? Or will I be confused about a lot?

I understand why this situation is what it is. Digital is really the cheapest way to make Yakuza 5 happen. I'm disappointed that I won't be playing it, but I'm not mad about it. Digital is better than no release at all, and at least many people who want to play it will be able to.

I just don't do digital myself for full-priced games. It's a conscious decision based on factors that are important to me (resale, data caps, limited storage space).

Petitions won't change a thing. It's very much a "You're lucky you're getting it at all" scenario, and fans will take what they can get.

I get ya but like I posted earlier that my suggestion was just a way to quell the feelings that people were having that it was digital only. I myself, don't like digital purchases and if there's a retail copy of a game I would always get that, for Ryu Ga Gotoku 5, I have two copies already, and would have liked a physical for this one but for a digital copy, its gonna be a must buy for me.

yakuza 5 has vf2 arcade cabs right?

Yeah it does

it's gonna sell even worse because no one cares about a Ps3 port for it. There's a new PlayStation in town and it's been here for a year, by the time this game releases it'll have a good enough install base to have justified a port

it really won't

Just bought Yakuza 3 on Ebay for 12 bucks. Let's gooooooo.

enjoy man!

Is there any hope for the Wii U Yakuza games to be localized now?

(signs point to no)

wack, why not PS4?

Syphon pls
there's enough fuckery in here as is

Oh, huh, apparently RGG 1+2 HD are gonna be free on JP PS+ in a couple of days too.

Seems like as good a time as any to do a series replay leading up to 5.

I'm glad you are amused.

Did you throw a dart at a dictionary?

I was referring to your attempt to justify your bizarre worry as somehow valid because you wouldnt be able to continuously access your digitial copy via the implication that this had already taken place on the PSP. Now perhaps you were simply ignorant of what had actually happened with the PSP, but I doubt it, as I did when I suggested your feigned ignorance, (almost as if you were "pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.") was disingenuous. I hope I've cleared up your confusion over my word choice and you can get back to the important business of worrying about which format you will buy games for systems you dont own in.

I've beaten 4 yesterday and almost imported 5 today XD

Best timing ever!

God, I cannot frigging wait to play this game. I've waited years, now it's finally happening.

I don't think the realisation has even fully set in yet.

Damn. What is your problem?

God I have waited to play Yakuza 5 for such a long time.

Stayed away from spoilers for two long years....it is now our time my friends to play this glorious game.

Gotta dust off the PS2 and start over on Yakuza 1 and then go to Yakuza 2. And now I finally have the balls to get Yakuza 3 and 4 for PS3.

To those who have played the sequels. Is the story any good? Does it keep up?

With Persona's being on PS3, and Yakuza's being made available to Europeans, AND a massive backlog of games to pick up and buy when I get one next year, I won't have to buy a PS4 until years after Sony's next console follow-up and for dirt cheap.

Thanks sony!

I started with 4. You'll be fine with the video summaries of the other games. Yakuza 4 had three brand new characters in addition to Kiryu too, with their own story starting in 4.

Anyone know how big the Yakuza 5 download will be?

Guys is it okay to start this series at Yakuza 3?

Y3 is the weakest entry, in my opinion. So you might get a bad first impression.

Regardless, every Yakuza has a feature where you can review each previous game's story. If you watch those, you won't feel lost.

It's all melodrama but it's fantastic melodrama. 2 + 4 are the best, IMO.

I've mentioned it 100 times but I have yet to move on from 3 to 4 because fucking mini games lol.

haha, still? where you at now man?

hard to argue with this, i love the new area but 4 just outshines 3 in every way for me.
and yeah, the catch-up videos are a huge plus!

+1 for starting with 3. Some of the side missions are just so ... oh god! *cries eyes out*. Start with 3. You won't regret it. *sniffle*

What is the general opinion about Yakuza 5?

It's the best iteration of Ryu Ga Gotoku out. Period. Like when I first played and finished it I was stunned.

Ishin is the one set in the Bakamatsu period, 19th Century Japan.

That one is almost as good as 5 and I have confidence that Zero might top both of these.

Compared to previous iterations, 5 and Ishin blow the rest of the franchise out of the water imo.

Give them PSN cards saying they have to buy Yakuza? :p

I'll make them an offer they cant refuse

Please buy this guys and girls. need to vote with our wallets to get the sequels to come over.

Yeah seriously, beggars cant be choosers and it took a hell of a lot of begging to even get this. Anyone who doesnt buy it isnt only killing future chances for Yakuza but potentially every other series Sony could be interested in reviving. :(

Well if people would want physical copies so much, then a petition should be setup for it, even if its limited copies, it should do well if people are serious about buying them hopefully.

They could do something like the ni-no starter for Ni No Kuni maybe?

get 3 (buy it new if possible)

4's story is more full on but 3 has more charm in my opinion

I've seen a bit of 3 and from what I saw I really liked it. I've been meaning to play this series for a long time but 5 not coming here made me give up but now......time to get into Yakuza :)

I rage quit the game 6 months ago after a particularly bad bout of pool and didn't touch it again. I ran into another depressing topic about how we'd never get 5 and said "fuck this series".

(this dramatic reenactment might not be 100% faithful)

Today changes everything. I'm going to steamroll that plat.

Good! I'm not saying Y3 is a bad game. So you should definitely go for it.

Y1 and Y2 are excellent games also. It would be a shame to miss out on those.

Toshihiro Nagoshi (Executive Director and General Producer)

“After receiving so many requests from fans of the series, we have decided to bring Yakuza 5 to the US and Europe. This title was enjoyed by over one million gamers in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yakuza 5 will be received by the gamers in the U.S. and Europe. ”

Masayoshi Yokoyama (Producer)

“Yakuza 5 is the largest and most definitive version of the Yakuza series. The game is filled with depictions of the Japanese way of life, culture, trends, social issues and dreams. You will play as 5 different main characters with a range of different ages, genders and professions and experience their challenges through a variety of character focused, in-depth stories. I hope you can immerse yourself in our rendition of modern time Japan. ”

I just want to extend my gratitude to the people at Sony and to Gio Corsi who's the head of third party over there.

THANK YOU for listening to the fans and for making this happen. We are extremely grateful for you bringing over Yakuza 5 and hopefully the whole franchise back to the west!

Also, even though I've given them a lot of shit throughout the years, I'm glad that SEGA took the opportunity to work with Sony to bring it over here. Thank you.
