Actually that was a misquote unfortunately, PC players can't play PS4 players for USF4. It's just for SF5 that they can... But I'll no doubt get USF4 for PS4 when I get one in hopes that PS3 lag is nonexistent, than we can dance.

I want alpha counters. CC and air blocking can DIAF.

Alphas if done right could be a great way to prevent vortex play. If SF has a guard crush meter, I think AC's will be necessary (but not SFA3 kill your guard meter AC's)


That said, the better solution to people blocking too much- make throws good again. Make them at least A2 good, like 1f, you take damage if you tech them, 1-button throws. That would work better than a guard meter.

and I'll say again. We've more new characters on TK7. She is JUST one of them.

Well... SF4 had the nostalgia factor, i don't think the "casuals" will follow on SF5.

Then it was too early for a casual reveal. I guess sony wanted an exclusive at their presentation so this reveal was forced.

If they want casuals to be excited then they need a good looking game, SF5 certainly doesn't look good right now. Maybe some decent new characters, or just a variety of characters. Anything that looks cool that would make people think "Oh I want to play that character, maybe press some buttons". Capcom needs to have a marketing campaing ligned up once the game is actualyl anywhere near to done or they have something worthwhile to show.

That's my opinion, then again I don't really have an interest in playing SF.

GG does something like a guard bar but it instead of getting guard broken it just increases the decreases the scaling/can lead to multiple counter hits in a row if you do get hit ... i think that is the coolest system ever. makes blocking scary but its not as cut and dry as a normal guard bar system.

Yup. GG guard bar serves the same purpose with more interesting results. The pressure felt by the defender becomes very real once they see that bar flashing violently, and the longer they're under those conditions, the more likely they'll try to escape pressure doing something stupid - ID out of a corner, 2P/2K etc. Once they finally get opened up, you're essentially rewarded with a training mode combo. It feels so effing good. Compare that landing Ultra because you got beat up for half a round or mashing X-Factor out of block string and running through an entire team. You can't.


That said, I've always LOVED the guard break mechanics of Soulcalibur 2. I'd like to see a 2D fighter go that route. I know Mr. Karate has some form of dedicated Guard Break move, correct me if I'm wrong, but typically, GBs in 2D fighters are tied to something more universal, yet are less prevalent.

Oldschool gameplay is so much more rewarding. Please let SFV help bring it back. We don't need it to "reintroduce" casuals to fighters again.
