This is driving me crazy.. In single (and/or co-op) classic mode, is there a way to see who you already have played as? It's really stupid if you have to go and look at the trophies.

Checking the score will show if you've "played" but checking the trophies is the only way to check if you've "beaten" it with them. The score if you beat it on 5.5 should be about 400k. For difficulty 0, should be more like 180k. Any less than that and you probably didn't beat it with them. If you're trying to beat it with everyone, just play as whoever has the lowest score until you get the challenge.

How is the online working for everyone? I remember many people said it was working great at launch but some said it wasn't too good. I am considering picking this up, but it would solely be because of online play. Unfortunately, I have nobody to play it with local otherwise it would be a must buy.

Some matches have lag. Some don't.

The game also has solo modes that provide some value.

Anyone know if that that error that was popping up and bricking some consoles is still an issue? Havent played in a week, but the itch is real...

I don't know if it's an issue or not, most likely is otherwise there probably would have been a patch, but what I do know is that many hundreds of thousands of people are playing the game right now and none of them give two damns. But seriously, there's no point in worrying about a non-widespread issue.

I play online a ton, and I can say that the experience varies from super smooth to completely unplayable. You have pretty much no way of telling how to match will go until it starts (no ping/location indicator) , but luckily (in FG21v1) its just 2 stock. If the match is lagging I just jump off and SD.

I had a day where 7/10 matches lagged hard for me, and I had a day where 1/10 matches lagged hard for me.

It's all over the place.

It's good for the most part but it will hinge on your connection and the opponent's connection. If one of you has really bad internet, it's going to go to shit and be unplayable. It's a million times better than Brawl ever was, if that's any indication to you on how good it is.

How many people here have the gamecube adapter? Anyone without it playing just as well that were formally dependent on it?
I own one. Tried to get accustomed to the Wii U's Pro Controller since it served me well for every other game and I hadn't played Melee in well over a decade, but for me its analog sticks were far too sensitive compared to the GameCube controller's. Never really felt like I was in full control with how easily I dashed when I didn't mean to, and having tilts come out without mapping this to the second stick was nigh-on impossible for me. Massive improvement once I ditched the Pro Controller.

I would have much preferred if they addressed Villager's recovery instead. Make that easier to edgeguard, not one that's already easy to edgeguard even easier.
Villager is really vulnerable when he covers long distances when thrown off the stage though. Can't defend himself at all once bringing out the balloons and sitting on his side+B isn't that much safer either.

Online play is good if you can get matched with people from the same general region as yours. Unfortunately, there's no way to control this in For Fun / For Glory so odds are if you're European, you'll constantly get matched with Americans like it has been the case for me. The few times I did get matched with others from Europe however it felt almost as smooth as offline, but I only play 1 vs 1 so I can't comment about Team Battles or Free-for-All. I use a wired connection, for reference.

I have realized that I will never unlock Pac Land unless it is unlocked by match count.
I don't recall how it is unlocked. Isnt it "play each map of smash tour"?

You aren't missing much. Maybe the worst stage of them all? I only tried it once. Ugh.

I tried the GameCube controller last night. The analog stick felt so heavy. I felt as though I had to expend a lot of effort to smash. So many failed smashes registering as tilts.

I also played Melee for the first time. Didn't like it.

That has to do with the speed you hit it.

Yepp, so it's really easy to unlock. I see a lot of people here hating on Smash Tour. Feels like I'm the only person who really enjoys it ;b

Yeah, Pac Land is kind of whatever. Not the worst stage as it does have some chaotic fun, imo the DK 75m level or whatever it's called is the worst. Duck Hunt is also in the bottom of my list. As for only playing it once, iirc it plays in every All-Stars run, no? Or maybe the levels are random, but usually it comes up in the last battle in my experience.

I got my three amiibos up to level 50. I remember when they were level 1 and couldn't dodge an attack to save their life. HOW THEY'VE GROWN.

I'm curious about how the AI develops. At first I did solo matches against them with the same character because I hoped they would mimic my playstyle. You can kind of see it early on, like they won't use certain moves until you do.

Luigi: I've fed him mostly attack stats. I believe he has +70 attack or something ridiculous, and it shows. He wins most of the four player matches, and I've seen him KO people with a tilt A TILT. He likes to throw, do the dash attack, and get in some side smashes when can. He has the default Luigi special set outside of the iceballs, which he enjoys spamming.

Villager: I wanted to make him very tanky and hard to KO. I've certainly succeeded, as he constantly gets above 200% and even up to 250% before being knocked out. 90% of the time he will be spamming Lloids. He uses his slingshot aerials and smashes quite often, and mixes it up with throws. Sadly he doesn't really use his tree that often. I love using that move and used it against him when I was playing Villager but he didn't pick it up for some reason. He wins every now and then due to sheer tankiness. He has the the garden pocket and pushing lloid as his unique specials.

Yoshi: His stats are fairly balanced, though I think right now he's sitting at bruiser. He's a strange amiibo, as he's very evasive and always jumping everywhere. He doesn't win nearly as much as the others, but since he's hit level 50 he's grabbed a couple of victories. He was almost always the first one eliminated in four player matches when I was training them. He uses a lot of egg spam and side smashes. I wish he would use his ground pound and rolling egg more. He has the default move set.

So for amiibo experts, do their playstyles change post level 50? Or are they locked? It's pretty interesting that they all have very noticeable and distinctive playstyles.

Also I did eight player Smash with my amiibos on my team vs. four level 9s and we crushed them in 2 minutes at Onett.

My daughter enjoys Smash Tour! I'd like to try it with two more people sometime.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the DK level. That is by far the worst. It's essentsilly unplayable.

Pac Land is weird, it is amazing that Smash recreates Pac Land in such a great homage. If you play a longer timed match you will see it progress through the whole game. But it isn't much different than other side scrolling stages (Mushroomy Kingdom, Kirby's Adventure), so if you don't like those you won't like this one.

I'm just bought Smash Bros and it's my first one ever. Is it possible to play with my girlfriend locally but take her online with me?

Yes, you can have 2 players on one console vs 2 other local players online.

If you're ok with playing 1 on 1, then yes online works fine, with a lagger once in awhile, probably 1 out of every 5 matches.

If you want to play anything with 3 or more players with random players online, forget about it. I have not had one match of the 20 or so I've tried that wasn't unplayable.

I'm running 35mb down/15 up over WiFi and I play online with 2 friends (each with their own Wii U) and we have zero lag, feels just like local play.

If you REALLY want to play matches with 3 or more people and don't have friends, your best bet is to start adding GAF members, probably. Most people here seem to have "decent to great" connections.

75m is great for Crazy Orders. Team battle and you just stay to the left underneath DK and smash away anyone who approaches while you team mates deal most of the damage.

I like playing Smash Tour, especially with custom characters turned on. Helps that it drowns you in rewards after you play too.

Did see a Xenoblade spoiler trophy though while playing it.

I enjoy Smash Tour a whole lot more than 3DS's Smash Run. I don't get the hate for it at all.

In other news, I'm up to 72/140 challenges cleared. There's no way I'll ever clear them all (Classic on 9.0 with no lives lost? Yikes), but the hardest one I've done so far was 8 KOs in Cruel Smash.

lol, cruel smash challenge is easy once you know how to use the right character.

What do you mean by that, exactly? :)
Well, you're more likely to get custom moves of the character you're using, so use characters you haven't got all the moves for a just an inch loser to completion.

That takes too much time...

It's probably why Pac-Land is the GREATEST STAGE EVER. I make sure to always pick it online when I can, if only because I think it's beautiful and fun. Also it really is the most faithful recreation ever,

I like Pac-Land personally. Screw the haters :p

It really is a great homage to the first side-scroller game in the arcades.

I would say 90% of my random matches (usually 2 v 2) are as flawless as can be, so...sorry yours never works.

Question for you cool people: Can you have Amiibos face each other online or is that just offline?
only offline

I wish you could put the amiibo ai into smash tour. The default computers are trash. My bro and gotta handicap ourselves by letting CPUs duke it out till the final match where we gotta play. And speaking of final match I wish the stage was random, it gets boring only being in battlefield

New arrivals, they are pretty wonderful :)

Thank you guys so much for your input. Definitely seems to be a mixed bag. Brawl was definitely unplayable for me online so at least it appears that this is better.

If you haven't beaten the mode with a character it should show either Score 0 (if you haven't played it) or it should a score if you played but didn't beat it. On the other hand, if you beat it, it should show a score AND the max intensity you beat it at.

For the see everyones final smash challenge you don't have to do it yourself just have to be in a match where it happens right?

From my bad experience, watching it doesn't work. You have to perform the final smash yourself to make it count. I did it quickly in training and spawning the final smash balls. You can check under records to see which character final smashes you haven't performed yet. That challenge really needs to be reworded.

How is the online working for everyone? I remember many people said it was working great at launch but some said it wasn't too good. I am considering picking this up, but it would solely be because of online play. Unfortunately, I have nobody to play it with local otherwise it would be a must buy.

Ive been playing online quite a bit and my experience has been really good and I'm playing WiFi. Lag happens like maybe once every 10 matches if that, and it is usually gone in no time. If it ever gets unplayable just back out and look for another opponent as its simply just a connection issue. Online is overall extremely addictive and satisfying this time around. I still haven't touched a lot of other modes because of it.

Sorry if this is not the correct thread for this, but besides doing a screenshot and sharing it on miiverse, is there any other way to get them? like, converting them like it was in brawl, or something else?

It's gotten worse for me since the game has come out in other regions. When it was out in just the US I had no problems at all, but as the game came out in Europe and Japan I started having input lag issues and trouble connecting to matches. It doesn't happen often enough to make the game unplayable, but it is a little irritating.

You can upload screens by pressing home button, going to internet browser and then pressing upload on a site like minus.com its very easy and fast. All you need is an account.

Wire your connection and you will be fine.

I discovered a few weeks after I got my Wii U that I could share them on facebook, just open the built-in browser on the Wii U, access to FB and upload a pic, the Wii U takes you to another screen were you can choose which screen you want upload, just like in miiverse, thou the images are uploaded at 720p dunno why
