Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Think its time to give this game another chance, was going to order it nearer launch but with all the issues avoided it. Looks like it reached a stage where it should have been to begin with. Would be cool if reviewers redid their reviews based off the game as it stands now.

Haven't played a racing game since GT back on PS2 days so gonna need some practice :)

Early next year. Replays and private lobbies are the next big ticket items. Expect one major feature every month.
 
Been weeks since i last played the game.

Have they optimized the aa solution?
Refined the Hud?

Weather makes this game look very nice, can't see pop-in or aliasing and it just nice reflections everywhere.

Don't feel bad, I only saw thunder snow for the first time last winter and I was sure at the time it was the result of some government experiments gone wrong or something >.>
 
Jeesus.

I've knocked this game a fair bit but damn. I'm considering a purchase after seeing this footage. That extreme weather really adds to the challenge of the game.

Just got someone's bundle copy (sealed) for € 30. And I was dead set on not buying any games retail games until The Order/Bloodborne too!

The update is slow as all hell to download though. Sony really needs to get their download speeds in order.

I don't see how re-reviewing it would help, the original reviews had no online problems because of a limited pool of players (day one worked perfectly for me the first few hours - although I never played any online MP races) and it was the handling, lack of tuning, liveries and limited tracks (no soul, lol!) that led to bad reviews. The beautiful weather (not available in the original tour) and a photo mode is not substantial enough to make a difference in most reviewers eyes.

For the record, I thought many of the reviews low-balled this wonderful game, but the original scores are the scores. I much prefer seeing people come back to this game (or come to it for the first time) and see how much they fall in love with it than 'games-for-free/ Opinions for clicks' so-called journalists.
 
Just did a few laps on the new tracks with dynamic weather on and set to night....holy crap....

I feel bad for anyone who passes on this game due to those initial lack luster reviews.

Gna, I deserved it, I was driving like shit.
It's really hard to drive on rain/snow if you are used to the "dry" feeling.

Besides, I did not play Driveclub that much ( was only lvl 20 ?)
 
Wow, I gotta say, that looks insane. I have to load it up tonight. Might just be the most impressive weather I've seen in a racing game (or even any game) period.
 
Seriously, is this the 90s? Over 3 hours to download 2,4 gigs of updates. I could probably download ten 50 gig games from Steam in the same time.

When the fuck did I tell people they shouldn't like the game? What I was getting at is that a game that was delayed "so they could finish it" is just now getting weather.
 
Is there any sign that the AI reacts to the new weather / road conditions? Or do they just drive like it's a clear sunny day at all times?

I don't think any of these gifs or videos prepared me for how it looked when I sat at my own TV to play it. It really is gobsmacking.

They certainly didn't prepare me for how fucking difficult it is to see the apex of a left hander when my windscreen wipers are piling up water on that side. Nerve wracking stuff.

Maybe they should have just delayed the game until now.

It looks like a far more impressive package when complete.

I think I may jump back in tonight.
 
Looks awesome, just not as amazing as I was lead to believe while watching the .gifs during work. Curious to see if DF or anyone else will do a frame rate/resolution follow up; I wonder if they have slightly dropped the resolution to allow this.
 
I am terrible at racing games. Is there an easy mode in this so I can still experience all the content?

I was bummed when Motorstorm 2 turned out to be ridiculously challenging and I ended up not being able to play much of it.

Weather was never in the original plan. Only after the delay they started playing around with the idea, and then committed to making a fully dynamic weather update, post-release.

I usually go all-in on the games I buy, so purchasing this for $34.99 and the season pass for $24.99 means I got it all for the price of a new game. Stoked!
