Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Darn it. Was only able to try this for a minute...but, quite impressive. Not only the rain, drops and everything looks amazing; but even the waves are affected.

Most games just add water and rain, but everything stays the same.

Apparently a constant rain will actually affect the tide levels as well. Meaning, on the 3rd lap of a race in heavy rain, the tide will actually rise.

Dude...

Yeah, this game released 2 months too early.

Had a quick blast with the update. It's unbelievable how good this looks. Was shaking my head in disbelief.

That looks fantastic. The sense of speed seems great too.

Sweet Moses. This was always my most anticipated game after it was shown at E3 in 2013. I was so disappointed at launch that I didn't play much. This is renewing my interest big time!

Now if work would just be done already I could go home and download the update...

What's the latest on the network issues that this game has been plagued with since launch?

Much improved. While I wouldn't say its 100% yet, it works most of the time and I'd say they're 90-95% there.

Yeah it's very close to being 100%. I still get the odd matchmaking error/disconnect and notice that after I finish a race in challenges, the leaderboard seems to have issues loading until I continue through. But for the most part it's working great.

Maybe. They might have still run into those server problems which caused Challenges to be disabled.

They definitely would have, they weren't even aware the problem existed until it went live so it wouldn't have matter if they delayed it another 2 years, it still would have happened.

The only way to avoid it would have been a massive open beta.

What's with this random info that IQ has been improved? What specifically? AA? AF?

That's more important to me than the weather patch itself.

I was curious as well, seems like after every major patch I hear that AA has been improved but I can never see it lol.

Curious to get home and take a look

Already done! :)

I think you should also tell him that the third person chase cam being affected by the weather should have a toggle. Some may see it as a great, immersive effect, but at times it can be so limiting and obstruct the view so much that it takes away from the driving.

I just stumbled on it by accident. No matter how I adjusted my TV, there was also a lot of 'sparkling' (don't know the technical term) on the edges of objects in games. Then I put it on PC mode! REVELATION. I still have control over sharpness too but I don't know if it's the same for all TVs. Mine's a Philips. It also stops the borders on LBP3!

I'm not sure what this mode is? I have my TV set to Game mode when I play to get rid of input lag, but what is this PC mode everyone is talking about? I've got a Sony XBR LED from 2 years ago or so, lots of options on there. Help would be appreciated.

I don't think that will happen. Will make MP imbalanced. View obstruction is an integral part of the package for all camera views

I do not really know, but it certainly looks much cleaner and detailed. It seems there was a bug in one of their AA solutions.

The patch says "perfomance improvements" so I believe that's what they're talking about.

I assure you, when you see it, you'll notice it. There's new particle effects too. different leaves blowing in the wind, bigger waves, new paper bags. LOL.

The A.I. is just too damn good in the wet especially when it's pouring down and you can't see yourself. I think Evolution should have tuned this more.

Not to disregard your wish for a toggle (don't have much against one), but I really want to say I -love- that effect. Also, I'm not sure about the fairness of disabling it since dashboard cam and cockpit view would have quite the disadvantage in that case.

Are you sure it's not just the weather effects playing tricks on you?

Have you tried driving an India track on a clear sunny day and seeing if it looks better?

Well, now you got me hyped. Aren't you under the impression about it because of the new weather patch? IQ was overall better on overcast TOD. Tried to race on a sunny, clear TOD to get a better idea?

EDIT - what bananafactory said.

Wipers adjust their speed according to the amount of pouring rain. Just like in real cars with rain sensing wipers.
