Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Damn, this game is looking good. I just rebought it. Should arrive Wednesday and after my Thursday exams, I'm gonna go right back in. Good to hear everythings pretty much working.

I've pretty much gone through every track again with the weather update. I genuinely can't think of any that I actively dislike. Sure there are some that are a bit bland but the vast majority of them are beautiful and a joy to drive around.

Incredible

What car and track is that please?

I wonder how many times super sampling they use.

Edit: Just seen your post

I played Norway holstad in a blizzard man I couldn't keep up with the AI at all and it was only on amateur I need to practice more it's a challenge the way I like it

Been playing this all evening with the weather update, and trying to put my finger on whats missing in this game. i pick up on that sense thats its lacking something, lack of character or soul or whatever..., maybe its mostly down to the presentation, but i think had there been more customization options for the cars to make them feel more personal, that would of went a long way. Even if only cosmetic stuff like rims, spoilers, bodykits, etc. (im not fond of the decals in the game, ugly ass shit, imo) But I've noticed i got no favorite cars in this game like i develop in other car games, i boot it up and always pick whatever, barely touch the top accelerators cos they spin out too easy.. just pick something in the middle(performance wise) or the zonda... had there been alot of cool customization to personalize the cars, i would of spent more time with each one kitting it out and learning its intricacies.. Theres a great game here at its core, but its like a cake without the icing.. although the weather effects is a sweet ass cherry on top.

Also, Evo need to play some GTAV NG during a thunder and lightening storm, emphasis on the thunder. Where the hell is the thunder Evo ??

There is thunder but there's an issue with the sound mix. Will likely be addressed in the next update

The panel in the Toshiba will also be TN.

LED refers to the backlight, not the panel tech

You are right. Would I be right in saying then that its the LED vs. LCD because there is an image difference and thats with all the extraneous features turned off?

This is a megaton.

Why wasn't this announced at the conference?
Yeah, seriously.
I bought in day 1 and enjoyed the game, but have set it down for the past month. Coming back to it today, not only is the weather insane, but online is fully functional. PSX would have been a great venue to re-introduce the game, and an excellent opportunity to make ammends for the botched launch. Announcements like "weather is available NOW", and " PS+ version available on xx.xx.xx date", would have certainly added to the show.

Thinking heads at Sony probably weren't up to that since it would've been the (3rd time?) To speak about this troubled game. I bought in (today for $35) but there is alot of skepticism surrounding this title (and rightly so).

Man this game looks good. I feel so bad that a few technical issues have likely tarnished this game for good when it was clearly so loved. :(

Where is the cheapest I can get a new copy of the game right now in the US? I'm not a fan of racing games as I used to be but will play this just for the jaw drops good lord that is pretty.

EDIT: Yep, most graphically impressive console game to date.

Now that you are in though, what do you think?
Edit: nvrmd, I now see you are waiting on delivery from Amazon.

From what I have experienced everything now works. The only hang ups I see now are that sometimes it takes a few seconds for everything to log in and load up and leader boards can have some loading times.

Not perfect but fully functional.

Thanks!

Looks beautiful, but the sound is way off. It's a first person view, so to speak, but with third-person audio. I was hoping that when inside of a car, the sounds would be more like real life - i.e., you can hear water hitting the windows and roof and the sounds of your engine aren't quite so clear.

Edit: This is what I'm talking about. Had it sounded like this, I'd own DriveClub tomorrow.

I feel there isn't a sense that you own the cars. It sounds trivial but most games have "cars you can buy" (or earn), and "cars you now own". The latter are often stored in a garage or at least displayed as clearly your cars. You picked their colour, when you acquired them.

In GT they got dirty, you washed them. Again that was pointless but added to the sense of "mine" even before you started to tinker with them.

In driveclub you see the entire strip of cars right from the first moment with the game, and that presentation doesn't change as you open access to them.

So it feels like you're at "Avis Supercars" and merely have the right to rent them for a race.

Implementing a garage of some kind, and maybe preserving the dirt and damage post race, perhaps also letting you see the garages of your club members, would help a lot.

That an exterior camera. Inside has an amazing sound change based on the cabin. You hear lots of sloshing and splashing, not sure about rain on the roof though.
