on the other hand, who doesn't love Tenzin and Bumi in that sexy spandex

Anime and CGI just does not mix well. I think Pixar was working on a way to make them seamless with Paperman, but even that has a way to go to looking like 2d animation. There was this one game, however, that looks like 2d animation until a special move is used, but I do not remember the name.

I would not have liked it if one person would have been able to stop their army.
Well I was exaggerating but Toph could've stopped Kuvira right then and there. Toph has shown that she is at the rank of Grandmaster as an Earth bender lol.

Don't laugh.
It should transform into a Steelix.
Hell yeah, better than an Onyx.
Guys we are so going to get giant spirit korra again. HOW EXCITED ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?!!?!

SO HYPE. SOOO HYYYPE!

Well that was embarrassing. They really should have just spread out the Zaheer/ Red Lotus story line to two seasons. This is some hot garbage.

As someone who thinks the Vector Cannon in Zone of the Enders 2 is one of the greatest weapons ever, it's disappointing that there is no priming sequence with the spirit laser.

Also, why does a laser need rifling?

more mirrors for maximum firage.

Gosh damn that episode was boss! I flipped my shit at the nightwatch scene. Korra's strategy to play on their emotions did not work. The only way I can see them winning now is if Bataar Jr. is still alive and after seeing the one he loves almost kill him he'd be willing to drop that knowledge, but I hope that he does actually die so that they'd be in even a worse situation than before.

The Zaheer story line should've absolutely been two seasons. In fact, after watching it my friend and I assumed it was two parts. Why name drop the Red Lotus and show more people? The actual philosophy of the red lotus is interesting.

Friend Toa Tok, I just thought you should know I'm seriously regretting my avatar right about now.

seriously considering changing it

Especially after the "there could be more red lotus members out there!" line they threw out at the end of last season. Damn, what a shame.

Can't believe it took you so long lol. Kuvira is an Unalaq tier villian.

WHAT? why?
The mecha! WHY.WHY

It couldn't be she's a brilliant tactician no she's just power hungry, it couldn't be that she's a morally grey villain, no she's Hitler, IT COULDN'T BE THAT SHE'S JUST A VERY SKILLED METAL BENDER NO LETS GIVE HER A MECHA.

UGH UGH UGH

I honestly feel like the Kuvirazord isn't any more out of place than the Koizilla, Giant Drill, Lion Turtle, Mecha Tanks, or Spirit Kaiju.

It's nuts, that is for sure, but so were those other things.

None of those are 24 story tall walking mechs though.

I mean, cars were JUST invented

Pretty good episode. The robot was totally not what I was expecting but it makes sense. The reveal of it was pretty great too. Kuvira isn't dumb she knows that a weapon on a train track has only one way to travel and it'd be vulnerable to attack. So she went with the one option that allows her to mount it, lol.CG could have been better but it wasn't too shabby.

Kuvira also trying to blow up Batar Jr. was totally expected, lol. Still, I do think she was legit in her feelings for him but her goals were bigger than him so. Still, the look on his face was perfect.

you know i can just picture the brainstorming session that gave birth to this idea:

A -"ok guys we need to throw something in here that will blow the minds of people. only 3 episodes left, we kinda faltered in establishing a morally ambiguous motive so we need something that can take attention away from that.

what do kids like nowadays?"

B - "Trasnsformers! Robots and shit."

A - "I Dunno, you sure? that doesn't really fit with the steampunk motiff we had in the 1st season and dropped when we realized it steampunk settings almost never work"

B - "Mechanized shit, how about a Giant ass robot spider? it fits the steam motiff sorta and can carry a big ass gun"

A - " Nah son, this aint wild wild west. Our audience DOES has a crossover with the weeaboo and pacific rim loving demographic though... how about some EVangelion mecha or some shit"

B - "But how would that make sense or fit a big ass gun?"

A- "I got it! put it on its arm for some gundam looking shit!"

B - "Brilliant!"

jokes aside, i do think Kuvira cares for Jr. but i was sorta skeptical if it wasnt one-sided admiration

You think so? Was it the hug in the beginning that swayed you? Or just that they had planned to be married from the get-go?

While I like to think she did have feeling for Jr, I can't really feel convinced from what I've seen in this show.

Just embrace it, guys.

Embrace the murderous Empress.

Even if no one got blasted (I doubt everyone's fine), this episode still had a fucking high implied body count. Evac boats and that forward outpost all got lasered :(

She could have easily chucked him away at any point during the unification campaign but she didn't is why. She probably would've kept it up and married him as well if it went according to plan and he didn't pose a threat down the line, lol.

No, it really doesn't make much sense. Given the state of technology the next best thing should've been a tank that would be independent from the rails, not a giant mecha. This jump is unbelievable arbitrary.

Makes sense, but let's be honest, you and I:

Do you really think she needs him after the Unification? Blowing him up and everyone else was the right thing to do.

You know the Mecha would be out of place, if we wouldn't already have normal size Mechas and the big ones only moves, through a very highly skilled Metal-Bender. It's plausible and awesome.

The hug didn't looked fake at all. She really seen happy with him, but here ideals and ego is bigger. You don't get to this point without destroying your "weaknesses".

-------------------

I like the session, but it just doesn't feel like a final session. The stakes just don't feel high enough. The theme of Season 2 woulds have been, the prefect ending for the Avatar Series, since it explores the background of the Avatar and a possible destruction of the very essence of it.

Not in a world with mecha tanks, mecha suits, and hummingbirds.

Honestly, the jump to mecha tanks is where everyone should be getting annoyed.

The ability to move rocks, communicate with spirits, and giant lion-turtles giving super powers to humans are just as arbitrary. They have the tech shown already with the mech suits. They just needed to make it big and apply the power of a master metal bender to aid it. i don't really see how this is crazy when everything else is just as crazy in the series and they've at least set some groundwork for it.

And as SG-17 points out. Mecha tanks is where you should be annoyed but even then, considering the tech of TLA to Avatar, it's not that crazy of a leap.

I don't think the target audience for this show will think twice about the Giant Mecha either way.

They're probably forming a Kuvira Youth Group as they should.
