Black Desert (KR) Open Beta on December 17th

From Steparu:

The official Open Beta for Korean version of Black Desert Online is scheduled to go live on December 17th. The Korean version of Black Desert Online will be Free To Play with Cash Shop system. I've listed the upcoming schedule below along with early character creation and download information.

OBT Trailer

Above you will find the new trailer showing off character creation and Black Desert's fast-paced action combat! It looks like no new classes playable during the OBT and the chances of that happening looks slim with the new trailer above showing the basic four. I believe new characters will be available next year as new areas unlock. Open Beta will be limited to the areas in the previous test and new areas will unlock during the 1st Quarter of 2015 and another area during the 3rd Quarter of 2015.

Registration Tutorial

Regarding western version of this game: Black Desert Western Publisher and CB3 announced. It's probably still far away.

Localize this game! Man, I'm dieing to play a new MMO and this one and Lost Ark looks really awesome. Too bad there is still no info on that blader class.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I will play the heck out of this for the character creator alone.

Hopefully people will stream this, black desert, tree of savior and lost ark are the most hyped upcoming mmos

I was barely able to play the last closed beta due to lag. Maybe it was because of my PC specs (660ti) and that beta didn't really have much graphic options at the time.

Hopefully OBT is more optimized and has more graphic options.

Good luck with this if anyone tries, I'm going to wait for 2015.

Two of my friends are downloading this as well, but they're not sure if they'll get blocked somehow.

I got an account, and might be streaming the character creation for a friend, if people want I can share it here when I start. There's a handy install guide on the reddit, and through that there are legit ways to grab an account for a modest sum.

Very advanced character creation, but I'm more interested in the actual game. Hopefully people stream when the open beta goes live.

There are already a shitload of gameplay videos from the closed beta on Youtube, anyway.

Mixed feelings about the game.
On one side it looks gorgeous in pretty much everything (not just pretty characters and scenarios, but also very inspired monster design).
On the other one, it also looks like the typical grind-heavy Asian MMO at its worst.
Even the average "pull" of trash mobs apparently seems to involve hitting them hundreds of times before making a single kill... Which, once the novelty of how pretty everything is wears off, makes it look like the most tedious experience in existence.

Apparently you need to knock enemies down to do critical damage, and that's how you're meant to kill them. Looks like a grind, but at least they seem to be doing something different with the questing and non-quest related features.

This guy is taking too long on this character though.

It's a re-fresh take on MMORPG. You don't have to grind quests anymore to level up. We've been doing that for a decade since WoW dominated the market. There are people who still prefer leveling up their characters by doing combat. If they can polish the combat, it'll become a great, refreshing MMORPG.

Yeah this is what I like the most about the game, I'm glad it's actually coming to the western market next year.

There isn't even a single player character action game that comes close to looking as good as this visually. It really makes me wish for one.

Awesome! Thanks, OP. (Also, my bad. Didn't realize this thread had been up - would have been posting here rather than bumping my old one.) Hoping to hear some impressions soon! :-D

Holy shit wtf is that drummer at 1:07. It looks ridiculous. I want to play as that.

Holy shit I didn't catch that on my first viewing. Awesome!

It's both hilarious and sad that we'll be able to play this before Blade&Soul, which we have known about for 5+ years.

Yeah I'm not sure what's up with the screen, especially with the ranger, the other classes don't zoom in and out like that. The combat is more like an action RPG than a traditional MMORPG so you'll be targeting the mobs with your camera instead of clicking on them, a bit like Tera.

I don't know what the drums do but there seems to be various instruments in the game that do different things, in ArcheAge you could heal yourself, so I'm guessing that player was casting a buff since there are no healers in the game.

What was the logic in that siege? "Oh they blew up our gate, lets charge out headlong into their offense and get destroyed."

xD that was pretty funny though. Pvp in this game looks like a lot of fun.

I've been waiting for this, too many people have been making really nice looking characters.

This is more like it.

Well, I think you still need the quests for skill points, right?

After seeing all this awesome stuff, i kinda want to get in to a real time action mmo. Been years since i played one (vindictus) but it kinda put me of because of the instances.

Are there any new ones with a persistent world and awesome real time combat?

Tera had one of the best real time combat I've seen in an MMO. Too bad the quest structure was very generic.

Anyone interested in a guy who covers this game really in-depth. Check out AmaeGames on youtube.

Here is an example from his character creation from open beta

http://youtu.be/yJltRfSLm-0

He has a lot more videos of the 3. Beta and explains the mechanics of the game like trading, crafting, housing, NPC interaction and so forth.

Edit: Forgot to mention he knows Korean! So yeah he knows what he is talking about.
