New GTA5 patch improves controls and fixes tree animation

R* listened to our prayers and added settings to improve the controls:

Putting deadzone to zero and a high acceleration setting fixes my gripes with the controls.
Sensitivity setting was there before, but can be used for fine tuning. There is still some input lag, but it seems to be within the normal realm of 30fps games.

"First person auto level" setting is also something people asked for.

Tree animations are finally implemented and look glorious. :)

edit: this "festive update" includes some other cool content and features

Great update, it sounds like. I heard about them putting the vegetation swaying back in, but fixing the controls is pretty huge, too.

I'm half glad the PC version is coming after with this, so we can get some of the core issues resolved already for best first-time experience.

Kudos to Rockstar for owning to their mistakes promptly and fixing the bugs.
Very professional of them.

We, consumers, appreciate their hard work.

It seems like such a specific patch, as if fan-driven with a gun to their head. Fix this, this annnd this!

Or maybe Rockstar is that good.
Probably

You console people are still beta testing my PC game, thanks guys! *Hint, this shit isn't serious*

I'm glad they got this sorted relatively fast though after the complaints started popping up, didn't really expect them to do anything about the controls.

AWESOME!!

To all the fanboys in that one thread who kept saying "the game has a high meta score, it doesn't need to patch anything" -- isn't it amazing to see your favorite company is open to constructive criticism?

I read this title as 'GT5' and thought: 'What was wrong with GT5's trees?' and 'Holy fuck, they put out a patch for GT5 this long after release?'

And here I was thinking the controls were fine and it was just the TV people were playing on causing problems.

The timing is perfect because I own this on PS4 but haven't started it yet, but I loooooooooved this game on PS3 (despite not liking the previous one), and I'm already itching to play it again.

That's all well and good but how about connection fixes? No matter what I do I can rarely connect with friends and stay connected. I care much more about that then some swaying trees right now.

They fixed that quite quickly. Wonder why it took so long to get a PC version out. Oh silly me, I forgot. They just wanted more money.

Did they fix the turbo upgrade bug?
My Internet connexion is broken, I can't check out the update. If they also fixed the input latency this could be a huge upgrade and the game would be perfect.

It's sad that I'm surprised a developer just straight up fixed problems people had with their game.

Can't wait to get this around Christmas time. Playing this in FPS mode is gonna be great.

Good excuse to jump back in, even though I already beat the game. The trees really bothered me, the controls not so much.

Dude, no.

oh man, it's like if the PC master race quip wasn't a sarcastic remark meant to ridicule the benign yet grating entitlement from gamers in general

"Wow delayed again? Even next gen consoles get it before us? Fuck Rockstar, I'm ONLY buying this on a 50 cents Steam sale and that's if they're lucky."

"Wow thanks for beta testing my game, peasants. Can't wait for January #masterrace #gabeN"

It's pretty funny how their attitudes change.

All the people that compared R* to Ubi are running into hiding now.

if such ridiculous people exist, im sad. i think nothing compares to ubi right now

anyway, based Rockstar delivering as always. cant wait to get home and try the changes though im hooked right now with Marco Polo (netflix) and Driveclub

So happy for the controls getting patched.

Shoutouts to everyone who posted videos and gifs demonstrating the problems. People who adamantly dismissed the problem can go eat crow.

Rockstar deserves huge props for this. Great diligence on their part, following up on these matters not long after release.
