Wonder if Iroh will join Korrasami in the Spirit Realm....

Damn gotta find me a Suyin avatar now. Weirdly the Beifong family drama went way better than I expected this season, so I'm kinda glad Opal isn't evil.
Lin is still best though
.

Not sure how I feel about the quality of the finale overall, though probably on the worth-it-for-the-final-moments side.

Me and Omikaru are working on the new Community thread. But we aren't sure what to call it. Here are our options:

KorraGAF Community - the positive to this is, it's what our community has become known as. The only issue is that, it doesn't really encompass the entire series. So do we go with this, to preserve our old community name?

ATLA Community - my issue with this is that, it singles out ONE show. Same as the issue with KorraGAF...except at least KorraGAF has some history behind it.

AvatarGAF Community - this title encompasses both series I think. But I hope people don't think it's a James Cameron thread. :P

IF we do decide that, we want to make a new community name, like an evolution of this one. One that represents BOTH shows in the overall series. We could add some info to the title:

AvatarGAF (ATLA/TLOK)

AvatarGAF (ATLA/Korra)

I'm personally leaning towards AvatarGAF....and maybe with the (ATLA/TLOK). But what are your guys thoughts. Ultimately this is about you guys. And I just want what is best for everyone.

My suggestion at the risk of groan worthy shoe horning:

Gaf-atar OT: some witty

The hyphen is optional, and alternatives like Gavatar or even Gafvatar are acceptable

My thoughts on the finale are the same as for the rest of this Book: Meh.

Korrasami was great though, best couple by far, but eeeeehhhhhhhhhhh

I guess it's what happens when you have to follow up after the outstanding Book 3.

Well considering people are taking issue with even the IDEA that this may not have been done well at all. Like we have said, no one is denying that Korrasami is real, but just as it's real, I have the right to say it was forced and bad writing and bad planning on part of the creators. If they had wanted to do Korrasami they should have planned better, but they didn't- it was planned poorly and ham fisted.

I have to agree, I love the couple, but I really felt like "wow they really want to please the fanbase, huh?". You can say the season 3 finale was already hinting at this, and I'll agree, but I'll also say that I felt the same back then.

Beautiful couple that deserved a better execution then "oh shit people are really shipping them, why not?"

EDIT: Though I guess it's not like romance in general was super well done in Korra anyway, so maybe I should just be happy and not overthink it.

I appreciate Azula letting me out of the bet, but I honestly don't mind. I lost and I will accept my defeat with grace.

You're all welcome to submit avatars for my loss. On one condition: make it one of short hair Korra.

Just for the record.

First half of Season 1= Beginnings Part 1 and 2 = Most ATLA
First half of Season 4 =Season 3
Second half of season 1
Season 2 (as bad as it was it was still entertaining and had appropriate set ups)
Second half of season 4

The way season 1 started was phenomenal. The best parts about it was the unfolding introduction of the rift between benders and non-benders and the camera direction. Everything that could be said about the Equalists movement has been said. When it comes to the direction I really felt like I was Korra discovering a whole new world with each frame.
Each character introduction was on point giving me enough hit about their history without heavy exposition. Beginnings was the best among avatar episodes and could've been in a tier of its own if it wasn't the prosciutto in a shit sandwich that was Season 2 and subsequently had world building elements mishandled in season 3 and 4.

Season 3 was a noticeable step down from all of season 1 in certain ways but it was handled competently enough that I didn't feel like bullshit was thrown at me like the second half of season 1. That alone elevates it above that second half. The best parts were the last episode, the rebuilding of the air nation and the small interactions between the good guys and the badguys like the Paicho stakeout and the setup to Zaheer's evolution as an airbending master.
The first half of season 4 felt like the past mistakes would be avoided but as time wore on it turned out not be the case.

Season 2 is better than second half of season 4 because while it was infuriating at times I was entertained. The second half of season 4 was humdrum. It wasn't boring just acceptably bland.

veelk should have to change his avatar since i had to change mine... imo...

EDIT: GOD FUCK I CANT LOOK AT THIS SHIT THIS IS GOING TO BE MY GAF FACE FOR A Y E A R

I MESSED UP SO BAD

Tahno was on a scene at the restaurant this season, but i think nobody noticed.

He was also in the finale. I think maybe they just couldn't afford to get the VA back. He had a pretty unique voice.

I admit that I did'nt notice him in the restaurant. I loved his voice too. Just makes me sad how few scenes he had. Also this thread and the posters in it have had some amazing discussions. I've mostly just lurked in here and even if I disagree with some things, I still just wanted to say how amazing you guys are and your passion for this series.

I don't normally drink for the sake of getting drunk, but last night I got hammered to forget the ending. It worked great at the time and it made me feel way better about the show, but as soon as I woke up today I remembered again.

Korra's ending is going to turn me into an alcoholic, is what I'm trying to say.

So I am new to this thread long time Korra and Avatar fan. I am sure I am not alone in thinking the final season WAS TERRIBLE? It felt so uneventful and small, regardless of leveling the city. Ugh. So unsatisfying. Korra season are pretty much already ranked by their number for me.

I loved season one until the very end. From the first few episodes, I felt like the direction they were going was seeing how Republic City, Aang's legacy, had become tainted over time with crime, politics, and bender/non-bender inequality. I thought we'd see Korra tackle the criminal underbelly of the city. For example, we heard about gangs like The Red Monsoons and some other triad. We also got hints into Mako's past of working with these gangs while he was growing up but that was never explored and instead he becomes...well nobody really. His purpose within the group is sort of unknown as the seasons progress. And his last moment is basically just a troll shipping fake out lol. But that's just one instance of how characters were handled poorly. You could say this about the writing as a whole too.

I thought that would be a great, grounded, but interesting direction for a plot arc. They could have transitioned that into the corrupt politics of the city with Tarrlok actually making Amon's point about bender inequality and all that.

sigh. Instead Bryke felt the need to resort to catacylsmic villians in the VERY next season. Oh well. The series definitely had some great moments, but as a whole package I think TLA is far superior.

From that point for some reason every nation needed to become the next major villain. Zaheer doesn't count as the Air nation attacking in my book but that was obviously meant to be one of the themes of that season.

You make a good point about Mako. Luckily for him the worst hit to his reputation is how he does relationships. The Bolin from season 1 has more class and intelligence than the Bolin we were served from season 2 onwards.

Clear blue water, high tide came and brought you in
And I could go on and on, on and on, and I will
Skies grew darker, currents swept you out again
And you were just gone and gone, gone and gone

This love is alive back from the dead
These hands had to let it go free
And this love came back to me

Sweet jesus. I just now saw the 2-part finale. Where my makorra bros at? Where they at? Because I could not contain my satisfaction.

So satisfying they didn't bitch out. I'm so damn proud.

This alright?

Is The Rift any good? The Search was a bit meh, but I need more Avatar right now. It can't be over 0_0
How much do you enjoy giant monster fights?
Will they do Korra comics?
I hope they do Varrick comics. To keep the Korrasami thing going, they could just make comics about everyone but them. They could just be all the time somewhere else. There is a lot to do in Republic City and the World.

Will they do Korra comics?

Don't think Korra is anywhere as big as ATLA. So just depends. I kind of think maybe they will though. I mean, I don't see why not. Then again, they also won't let Zuckerman release the soundtrack digitally. DIGITALLY. What money/effort does that take. SMH.

Not as much as someone in this thread, but still quite a bit.

Don't mind them either, just as long as they aren't stupid/silly/clunky looking. Having a big ass blue Korra stomp around squatting like she had to take a dump and shooting big smurf juice out of her chest was so fuckin stupid. Also Unavaatu was such a stupid design, and terrible character. God that fight was pure awfulness.
