WWE Signs Samoa Joe, CM Punk, American Dragon. Cabana, Amazing Red & Other To Follow?

According to Wrestling Observer NL this week Vince McMahon has told John Laurentis to sign CM Punk, Samoa Joe and American Dragon to contracts immediately, so as TNA does not steal them away. WWE has been interested in all three for some time.

It was rumored also that Colt Cabana would be signed and WWE has also been looking at Nigel Mcguinness and Jimmy Rave.

WWE has also expressed interest in Jose and Joel Maximo as well The Amazing Red.

Been a ROH fan I am not sure what to think about this, right now I cant see up to date ROH regularly so I would love the chance to see some of them on WWE programming which I can see without bother but I also feel most of there characters could be ruined in the WWE (Punk in particular). I could see Colt getting some laughs and Red maybe been a top WWE cruiserweight (if their is such a thing). Samoa Joe might have to tone down some stuff which would ruin him and American Dragon will probably completely bomb in front of a WWE crowd.

Also if all these signings go through ROH is gonna have to fill one big hole in there talent roster.

I think they are going to bring ECW back (replacing either heat or Velocity)... and move the entire cruiserweight division over there...

if they turn them loose and let them go fucking nuts, it could work out really well... in which case these signings make sense. Right now, they cant afford to turn the cruiserweights loose or they would overshadow the Main Eventers..

WWE cleaning out RoH. Glad TNA resigned Styles and Daniels already.

yeah, but if they dont get back on TV soon, its likely not going to matter. I think they have something up their sleaves (WGN?), but if not expect to see the few talented TNA'ers on WWE soon.

I hope TNA makes it, just so there is some alternative to the WWE without looking outside of America.. and while TNA writing is horrible they have some awesome workers and a ring style that is very different fron WWE. Now if they would just stop pushing WWE has beens in our face and let their younger talent shine, I would be much more intrested (why the fuck is Monty Brown playing second fiddle to Triple J?)

Seeing as TNA just lost their FSN deal (and almost went "dark") and now is goin onto some weird station I never heard of I honestly can see them lasting to long...

I see a huge amont of top quality stars been availble to WWE in the next few months, I hope they pick them up and (for once) use them right!

Edit: I have just been StoOgEd' (must type quicker!)

TNA is supposed to go to WGN soon.

If those wrestlers are going to make more money in WWE, I say go right ahead.

I don't think they would have signed them for that long of a deal if they didn't snag a tv deal. I pray it's Spike and not WGN. Or I'm going to be downloading the weekly shows.

And if all of these signings is to bring back ECW... At least they are trying something halfway decent while fucking over RoH. It was going to happen to either way.

Good for the people that got signed, but bad for anyone that cares about workrate or good matches. I'd rather have had them all go to TNA where they can wrestle like they want instead of being forced to emulate Triple H's boring style.

Yeah so they can be out of work in a couple of months, TNA, is dead, just noone has told them yet....

Stooge, TNA will be formally announcing the WGN deal this week. They will be on Mondays from 8-10 every week. Live every other week.

Can't wait. I find myself enjoying TNA's product alot more than WWE's as of late.

One thing though, kind of hard to sign American Dragon when he's all but quit the wrestling business.

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong.

Does DirecTV carry WGN?

Yeah, DirecTV has WGN. Comcast doesn't, so I was afraid I'd be downloading the show every week. Luckily a couple friends have DTV dishes.

*shrug* Apparently WGN is in a lot more houses than Fox Sports is.

Yep, it is.

There's talk fo them being expanded too.

Remember kiddies, TBS was nothing until they put wrestling on. Just ask Ted Turner what got him his ratings.

I've had WGN since the early 90's

but anywho...I'm willing to bet they're being signed for lucha show on Telemundo this fall.
They already signed Essa Rios back.

Yeah over at the Prowrestling.com forums someone from NYC said they called their cable company last week and the lady told him that they had gotten a few hundred other calls in past few weeks about WGN. Pretty much all due to TNA. So the lady told him that the cable company was strongly considering picking up the channel.

As for Punk, Joe, and Danielson....Punk has the best shot of doing well because he has the mic skills to hang with the big boys and his move set is pretty low risk. Though I'm sure he'll have to change his finisher from the super pedigree(pepsi plunge). Danielson might have a chance considering two of the people he's trained with(HBK and Regal) are on Raw. But that didnt do Spanky much good. Joe is real good friends with Cena. But both him and Danielson are at their best when working stiff. Red.....well Red used to be awesome. Then he tore his ACL. Red is no longer awesome. TNA sent him packing. I dont think they want him back. The SAT are just horribly sloppy spotmonkeys who can only manage to pull off their own finishing move maybe once every 4 or 5 times they try. They just suck.

Shit I keep missing names!

Cabana I could also see doing pretty well in the WWE. He has the size and the mic skills and like Punk he doesnt work all that stiff. If the WWE were smart they'd bring them in as the Second City Saints. But well then they wouldnt own the name so they'd prolly change the it.

Nigel is one the few wrestlers in ROH that I cannot stand. The dude has no charisma(atleast that I can see) what so ever and his voice sounds like nails on a chalk board to me. Plus he wrestles that boring ass british style that only Regal and Doug Williams seem to be able to make entertaining. I just cant see what so many ROH fans see in the guy. So if the WWE signs him GOOD. Then I wont have to put up with him any more.

Rave is a testament to how well Punk can make others look good. Jimmy isnt bad by any means but I doubt he's as good as he has looked so far this year. Plus since his heel turn(and thus the first jump in his popularity) he has had all of about 4 lines on the mic. because Prince Nana does almost all his talking for him.

I had WGN in the early 90's when we had TCI Cablevision. Then I think they dropped the channel when AT&T bought them out. Then Comcast bought out shitty AT&T. Still no WGN.

I just flicked through my WON and I can't see this anywhere. I'll have a closer look later but for now it appears bogus.

Edit: Found it, but someone has exaggerated it a fair bit.

Lots of burnout going around these days. I'd be lying if I didn't feel so beat down from the last four months. We want it all don't we Joe? We want what's ours, don't we Dragon? We need to remember we're still young. This belongs to us. Nobody can take it away. I'm tired. I'm sore. I'm heartbroken. Yet i'm still fixin' to take over the world. Because it's mine god damnit. Remember kids, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm the strongest mother fucker on the planet.
Keep marching...

What doesn't kill RoH will make them stronger... They're gone. Probably signed with WWE. Wish it was TNA.
