i called my gamestop earlier today and asked if they had any Cap'n amiibos and they told me they were sold out of ALL amiibos.

I went last year on christmas eve and it was so much worse than any normal day. imagine the mall was a can of sardines.
Honest to Zod, shopping retail isn't worth it. Fun fact, ineffective flu vaccine this year and Villager Amiibo were all stocked at walking latrine sneeze level.

It's a good thing all of the stores I went to simply said the figures I was looking for were sold out, and did not react like these clowns.
The piss stand would make sense.

Just to clarify, these things are region free, right? Like if I buckle down and buy a European Little Mac he'll work with my American copy of the game, right?
yes, IGN tested them out and they work fine. region-free unless Nintendo somehow figures out how to lock them.

Was on my way home from work today when one of my buddies who runs a GameStop on the complete opposite side of town (I don't shop at the local one due to an issue with my PS4 preorder that was on Gaming-GAF last year around PS4 release!) calls me and lets me know that he has one Pit left that someone didn't pick up for preorder, and it had been 48 hours since they got it, and they had repeatedly tried to contact him, so he asked his District Manager if he could sell it, and wanted to give me a head's up, so...I get there, and not only do they have a Pit, but a Little Mac as well!

They told me it's the same as pre-ordering in store and they hold it for 48 hours and you can pay with cash or use a gift card when you pick it up, the credit card you put in at the time of the order is only used to charge you a restocking fee if you don't pick it up.
The pickup time is extended for the holidays. They didn't tell me exactly how long but they said they will call you after a few days to see if you forgot about it or don't plan on picking it up. They also told me that they usually don't charge your credit card the restocking fee even if you don't pick it up but it depends on the store.

Ship to store is exactly that. You literally get your item in a package and they give it to you.
So no selling your stuff by accident with that.
Pick up at store just depends on when they grab it for you. Since they get the item and then put it behind the counter. If you pick up at store something that sold out before inventory is updated they cancel it and refund you like Walmart does.

Thanks I feel better I put dedede and Ike awhile ago as ship to store I was like oh boy when I heard people getting things sold on them
No joke, the day I got Falcon at target there were like 4 Amiibos and an Elza on the bottom, for a split second I thought it was Rosalina.
If you can, it is probably best to pick up your pre-order as early as you can in case they don't receive enough to cover all the pre-orders. This has happened to me before with games. If that happens they will usually hold what you ordered on the next shipment but who knows how it will play out with how it's been so far.

I finally got my hands on a villager on www.amazon.de 24 dollars when all is said and done not too bad as they normally come to about 15 with tax here so I saved the headache of driving and checking

Best Buy charges you for an order as a credit card check and refunds you when verified. They'll charge you for real when the item ships.

I've still not seen a single Wave 2 in stores in my town. I'm surprised as I grabbed a second Marth, WFT, and Villager almost a week after launch. I guess they just aren't getting any in.

I'm expecting it to get canceled. They have a ton of negative feedbacks for doing it with other items with no communication.
Plus they sold them right after canceling everyone's preorders.

I hate how we don't have any dates for Wave 3. We didn't have any dates for Wave 2 either and it was a complete mess!! It's so annoying and unorganized. I really hope we get a date and that they're not just unleashed to the Americas on some random day.
Yeah a repeat of wave 2 wouldn't be good...
