Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Yes, same memory card
works on vita, my save file is there

I'm pretty sure it worked when I tried it two months ago, but it was on a different memory card than my Vita. I don't remember whether it was physical or digital either thanks to my PS+ copy, but I might have redownloaded the DLC and synced the save via PS+. Either that or I transferred my PC backup. Sorry for being so vague, haha.

Yep, downloading the last dlc got them all to work

Muramasa dlc looks great
already worth the purchase

thanks for the help

Has anyone else noticed that PS1 games running on the PSTV look abnormally good? If I didn't know nay better I would say they were rendering in a higher res. Looking at PSP games vs PS1 games running on the system PS1 games look considerably smoother.

Gamestop, how can you break my heart like this?

Great, not only the psn store is a bad reference (detected some mistakes like akibas trip EU being compatible when its not), now we cant even trust the retail games descriptions...

It sucks that Lumines: Electronic Symphony was patched to have analog controls available in the menus in Japan, but not anywhere else.
Is anyone asked Sony via twitter or mail what's their future plans with support PS tv outside JP? Compatibility is still a joke. What a mess.

Honestly, seeing as how their support for the Vita in the west is just indie and psone games I really can't see them improving compatibility.

Is this a known problem on the playstation tv? when I watch anime on crunchyroll, it gets to the ending, the video would stop playing and go back to crunchyroll app. This usually happens when it shows next episode preview.

Thanks.

I did. They basically just killed the question by saying that they do not have information regarding that issue that they could make available to the public.

I will interpret that as "hahaha".

I could see them doing a big "Hey! Look at our whitelist! You can now play all PS1/PSP stuff! Oh and Ys too!"

(I'm being optimistic here)

I just tried this on a whim myself and was shocked that it worked. Daughter is playing it right now.

Well that sucks. Looks like I can never exit the game now!

EDIT:

Figured I would test this out.

Quit game and restart: works fine
Quit game, go into suspend, wake: works fine
Quit game, turn off system, turn on system: doesn't work - get incompatibility message
Deleted game, redownloaded: works fine

My system is a US unit connected via ethernet, FWIW.

FYI,

You do not need to re-download the game, but you do need to have internet connectivity. If you hit the refresh button on the launch screen for the game it will allow the game to run again. This is less of a inconvenience but this should have been printed on the box that internet is pretty much required.

Just got one for Christmas. It was an early present!

I don't have a card but I know I'll be using the remote play feature a lot. Anything else I can do that's neat?

Netflix app yet?

Oh neat, FF III has been added to the new releases downloads so it looks like it works for real now. Now gimme Castlevania Drac X Chronicles and I will be a happy,

edit: what a joke, same shit happens when I turn it off and on again. Says it's fine upon playing after download. Shut off ps tv and try and am greeted with not compatible message. Ugh

Bought one of these yesterday, but I'm starting to regret the purchase. It's a nice place to get PSX games and Persona, but the store isn't really fully developed and the first demo I downloaded stated it was incompatible after the download.

"Playstation TV" is a pretty brazen name for something that isn't here nor there, especially when every Tom, Dick, and Harry seems to have some kind of Netflix compatible set-top box out there. This thing would probably be selling decently this Christmas if they just put a bit of preparation into it.

Guys,
So I've been planning on getting a PS TV around christmas for only remote play.

Recently the ps4 remote play app has been made to work with all android devices. I installed it on my Fire TV and it works great.

But if I change it to "high quality" the framerate is def not 30. There's a very noticeable difference in framerate between normal quality and high quality.

Is this a thing AT ALL with PSTV? Is the remote play a smooth 30fps on "high quality"? (if there is even a quality selection)

It's a shame that the touch pad on the PS4 controller can't replicate the touchscreen (or does it?), then another button (L1 or R1) whilst held down flipped it to the rear touch pad. Is far from ideal and would be an issue in various games but you could at least play them.

I've received a response from NIS America regarding the whitelisting of Danganronpa. They state that Sony hasn't gotten back in touch with them and probably won't any time soon due to the holidays, so it might take some time before it gets sorted out.
Not sure if I believe that, though Sony doesn't seem to give a shit either.

I thought both Dangan Ronpa games worked on NA Playstation TVs?

It does, I used that feature a lot while playing SAO.

Anyone know if Metal Gear Solid works? It says it does on the PS store but doesn't in the list on the playstation list I saw and the situation is the opposite for the resi 1-3 collection

I don't own either. Just planning my purchases, but MGS says it's compatible on psn store.

Do you live in Europe? If so, MGS should be directly downloadable on Vita and presumably PSTV. In North America, you have to transfer it from a PS3 due to reasons unknown.

hey guys, i just saw a pstv on boxing day for 80 bucks and i am going to grab it but had a few questions.

Did they fix the stuff like netflix?
Has the streaming been fixed (it would be hardline to hardline)?
Anything else a noob should know?
Does the PS4 controller work well?

I am sure the answers are in this thread somewhere but I am totally out of the loop and want to be sure I am dealing with current info.

Thanks

1. Netflix does not work. Crunchyrol does though.
2. Yes the streaming has been greatly improved with a system update
3. Set it to 720p as 1080i looks off in a lot of cases.
4. Yes and its the best one to use.

Has the streaming been fixed (it would be hardline to hardline)? I'm assuming you me remote play? I haven't had any issues.
Anything else a noob should know? Not really. It's what exactly what it is. A Playstation that plays a selective amount of games. Just make sure you have a good size memory card inside it. Like a 64GB if you get one of those.
Does the PS4 controller work well? Yes, it does. No problems at all.

My answers are in bold. Others will chime in if I didn't answer them fully.

Has anything been said about netflix? Really wish i could ditch the 360 in my bedroom completley. I only used it for crunchyroll and netflix. Now its down to only netflix.

So, maybe I am stupid, and that's OK, but can someone offer some advice?

I used my PS4 to charge a new DS4 I purchased to use with my PSTV. I connected my DS3 to the PSTV to initialize it, but I can't get my DS4 to sync with the PSTV, it just keeps turning back on and connecting to the PS4. Yes, I am connecting the PSTV to the DS4 with a USB cable.

If I reset the controller with a paper clip, same thing. Disconnecting manually from PS4 setup menu, same thing.

Eh?

EDIT: Bad cable. Happy Holidays to those that have 'em.

I just got a Playstation TV for Christmas along with Persona 4 Golden.

So I guess I'm a part of this club now.

I'm probably going to pick up Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited next which will give me several dozen hours worth of RPG to play.

I am probably thinking of checking out the PSP back catalog of games I never got to play as well such as Dissida 012, maybe even Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX for the extra characters, although the lack of versus play is somewhat concerning.

Anyone have a solid recommendation of Vita RPGs or Action games that cannot be experienced on either the PS3 or PS4. If possible I'd try to get titles on the Vita that I can't enjoy on either my PS3 or PS4, so more or less Vita / PSP exclusives that work on the Playstation TV.

Tales of Hearts R, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Conception II, and Sword Art Online, (I don't think the NA release has support, but the import Chinese/English physical copy works). Not sure if Ys Celceta works on NA PSTVs yet either.

Soul Sacrifice Delta is my favorite Vita exclusive that I play on my PS TV. Great production values and fast and fun gameplay. Some of the monster designs are mind boggling. It also has a ridiculously detailed amount of lore and world building. The premise itself is one I haven't seen before is damn interesting. I have heard it called a Monhun game, but as someone who isn't much of a fan of those I absolutely loved this. It's probably because it's so fast and flashy.

Yeah, Soul Sacrifice Delta is an amazing action rpg vita exclusive.

I've been considering getting one of these since the cost isn't too high (plus the games with PS+), however it doesn't have the main game I want: Uncharted Golden Abyss.

Why is killzone mercenary (digital) not supported in the UK?

Also is Borderlands 2 supported in the UK?

Thanks.
There's patches for both Killzone and Borderlands 2 that make them compatible. Both patches add full DS3/DS4 support too so you can use the other buttons that aren't on Vita.

so i just took a couple photos of my set-up if you can call it that -_-

there's not much going on but it works well in the small apartment i'm currently living in.. that's a fridge to the left of the tv lol

How are you finding the swapped X and O?

I think the white model makes the PSTV really stand out and differentiates it to the PS3 and PS4. It'd be much cheaper to import that than pay the UK price for a PSTV.

Holy crap you just gave me an idea. I have a monitor sitting right here. I can plug my PSTV into my computer monitor and instead of trying to use it on this 42" TV.

Totally anecdotal of course, but when I put mine on one of my computer monitors, it looked pretty bad. Then I hooked it into my TV and it looked much better.
