NYPD cop throws man to the ground after spotting him doing Ellen Degeneres’ ‘dance da

I wonder what would have happened if someone had shoved an officer to the ground.

A normal fall like that can end in death if your head hits the ground awkwardly.

Are you being for real? If you were to do that, its a death sentence. Sorta like "cop suicide" or whatever its called. (when someone trying to die does a 'fake' bad move near a cop which makes the cop shoot first)

I have a feeling that if someone pulled that "dance dare" in front of a gang they would be like "the fuck is that guy doing" and ignore you, or improve your chances to not to be thrown into the ground compared to these assholes.

Also, this is copypasta material.

This is not a sign of corruption in america, but instead it's the natural agression in males that testosterone causes. It's not coincidence that testosterone makes you stronger. It's literally designed to kill people. Science has proved that when mankind started eating meat it gave a huge progress to evolution. How do you get meat? Killing. Males are literally biologically designed to kill.

Fortunately those barbaric times are over and we have machines that can do everything for us. There's no reason for men to exist anymore. Do what i did males and become a woman. Because like smallpox males must die off for the sake of progression.

In the age of social media some of you guys are saying that this guy instigated the situation?

We live in a time where people are going up to randoms and doing crazy shit and somehow this guy dancing is bad?

Guy was being an asshole dancing behind the cop but the cop had no business putting his hands on him. That shove was completely unnecessary.

He instigated about as much as a jogger running behind a cop on the streets of NY and passing him. People are starting to get ridiculous.

That was kind of my point.

Some people are downplaying the assault, but if it was the other way around, cops would have beaten his ass and thrown him in jail.

Cops seem to think the law doesn't apply to them, and for the most part, they seem to be right.

Absolutely. Really, it doesn't get more thuggish than how these cops behaved. Remove the uniforms and that was a scene from a Spike Lee movie (actually, keep the uniforms...). Absolutely disrespectful. A discredit to their badges. and if the NYPD was anything worth respecting behavior like this would be actively punished.

Cops have more "power". More "authority" to beat the shit or kill people.

And yes he did instigate the cops who are pissed off babies at this point in time due to alot of shitty situations they have caused. Are you surprised?

Edit: Gonna add that I dont agree with their decision and that they cross the line again. Just before someone thinks im defending those jerks.

Yes let's arrest Ellen Degeneres. Enjoy your ban.

This thread got amazing pretty quickly.

Seriously though, the cops should've looked at him and just laughed it off. Good thing the guy got it on video though. It's not really police brutality, but it does show police incompetence.

No, police brutality is exactly what that was.

The victim blaming continues.

Just because someone didn't exercise perfectly sound judgment does not mean that ANY subsequent result is perfectly fair game.

We have seen this with instances of rape. "Don't want to get raped at a party? Don't get drunk!"
While getting drunk may not be the smartest idea without the proper support group to keep an eye on you, that does not mean anything that happens to you is your fault.
Exercising less than perfect judgment does not mean that any consequence on any end of the spectrum is your fault.

Eric Garner probably shouldn't have put his hands up and say "please don't touch me".
But that does not warrant being choked to death. Most people understand this.

Those who are petty and have some pretty severe racial biases or hate to see "liberal warriors at it again" often use victim blaming to defend terrible police brutality.

And we see this trend continue in this thread.

While this man's actions were not the brightest, if the officers do not have reason to believe he committed a crime, then he does not deserve to be touched.

Anyone who is taking the dancers side on this, is an idiot!!!

How stupid do you have to be to walk up to a cop, in his blind spot, and start dancing like a fool! I applaud the cop for acting swiftly and putting an end to it without as much interaction as there could've been.

Seriously, how dumb does a person have to be to do this to a cop from behind, when they are on duty, and after two officers were just gunned down...

natural selection at its finest.

I actually can't tell if this is serious or not.

Even the cars are crossing the line. Stop corrupting the cars!

The unfortunate thing about all these things happening in the media with police officers (besides the victims, their families, and the people that come out of the woodwork to say crazy things) is that there are legitimate good people who want to do the right thing that are police officers but know if they ever did anything against a fellow police officer, they would have their lives ruined. This is the culture that needs to go away, there needs to be some sort of protection for whistle blowers or cops that try to stop another cop from doing something.

I'm saying this as a person who has a few friends who are law enforcement officers and my great aunt married a retired law enforcement officers.

Oh it's definitely brutality. Police brutality is really just an excessive use of force. And in this case, it certainly was.

It may not have been severe, but it fits the criteria.
He doesn't have to get beaten and tazed for it to be considered brutality.

No, police brutality is exactly what that was.

Shoving him off and him falling to the ground isn't what I would gauge as police brutality. If they get a baton and started smacking him around, that's what I would call brutality.

When you put it that way, yeah it was excessive force. Sucks for those cops then! Since the guy has video, he could make a pretty good claim.

These post is crazy in so many ways. Can't tell... if.... real....

I actually can't tell if this is serious or not.

100% serious!

Seriously, how stupid can one person be to take an Ellen 'dance dare' and instead of picking a normal person, they go and pick a cop... A city full of 8 million people and this person picks a cop...

smh

It might not have been the brightest thing to do but he should have been told off by the police, they have no reason to put their hands on him.

So you are saying cops are volatile people who cannot control their responses and this person should have known better than to approach anyone like that in a light hearted moment?

If you don't commit a crime, then police are not allowed to grab you, throw you against a car, verbally assualt you, and then throw someone to the ground.

And no, the dancer did the dare to many people. Not just a police officer.

How in the world can you justify this behavior? We understand that police officers are rightly on edge given what happened.

But dancing in someone's blind spot is not a crime. Therefore the police do not have legal authority to lay their hands on someone.

Agreed. Everyone knows cops temd to be thin-skinned meatheads who are easily provoked if they think someone is mocking them.

It might not have been the brightest thing to do but he should have been told off by the police, they have no reason to put their hands on him.

You can not make an assumption like that... all cops are on edge because of what happened last week, and this brainless wonder decides to dance behind a cop...

If you ask me, he got what he deserved.

Any unprovoked action of violence by the police against a person guilty of no crime and who is not attempting to harm said officer (or any other person) is police brutality, whether or not it's just a shove to the ground or a Rodney King-style beat-down.

Like, before I watched the video I was half expecting to see the officer turn around and be startled by the guy dancing and just instinctively push him. But no, the push came AFTER he questioned him (with his 4 other cronies), backed him against a car, frisked him, and determined that he was guilty of no crime and really was just dancing. Sorry, but this is a fine example of police brutality.

So if you dance behind me, I have the right to frisk you, verbally assault you, and throw you to the ground after my friends and I corner you?

What an idiot for dancing behind a cop's blind spot after 2 were gunned down. It's not victim blaming the dude was a dumb ass.

btw anyone know if the dancer could sue for assault ? its definitely assault.

That's not really worth it.

The NYPD would have to do something internally to the officers. You could file a complaint and it would stick to the officer's record. That could eventually be used against him if a serious matter came to trial, though.

If you ask me, he got what he deserved.

Then I feel sorry for you, plain and simple.

Not only did he not "deserve" it, the cops have no rights to touch let alone push someone just because they feel like it.

I feel sorry for you because you not only are showing a lack of empathy, you are showing a complete inability care about laws being broken by those who are supposed to uphold them.

So if you dance behind me, I have the right to frisk you, verbally assault you, and throw you to the ground after my friends and I corner you?

First off, if you were a cop, I wouldn't dance behind you, because thats stupid.

If I danced behind you, and you're a normal person, and you get annoyed and you throw me up against a car, then it turns into an altercation between two people...

Either way, I am with the cop on this.

Also, this goes out to anyone else commenting in this thread... if you do not like my opinion, then ignore it. It's my opinion to have.
