Inaccessible areas you would've loved to explore

Doesn't matter if it's only used in cutscenes or even cut entirely from the game.

Just playing Kingdom Hearts 2 right now, and there's a little scene somewhere in the beginning where Kairi and her friend are walking towards a nice little village on the main isle of Destiny Islands. From what I played so far, you can only play on one the small islands in the first Kingdom Hearts and the big main island is just a background or used solely for cutscenes. I think it looks really lovely and I would love to explore this area in a fleshed-out version.

Also, in an early build of Zelda: Ocarina of Time you can see a picture where Link fights some early version of a darknut in what appears to be Hyrule Castle or a beta version of Ganons Castle. Given that most early areas shown look pretty bad, this one actually looks decent. I mean, if it's truly Hyrule Castle, I'm pretty sure I would've loved it.

Anywhere that wasn't
Sunken Hyrule Castle
or the final dungeon in Wind Waker.

Destiny Islands is a great one, too. It looked like a really inviting place to hang out, but you only see it in a small handful of cutscenes.

Pretty much everything in Destiny that is outside the predetermined bounds you're allowed to see. I think Bungie created some amazing planets/worlds, I'd love to have seen them in living, breathing form. To go beyond the walls of The Tower to explore the actual city and slums. To see the toxic wasteland that is Venus. To find some last surviving colonies on the Moon or Mars, with NPCs and a story.

I'd have liked that very much. Instead we have a loot platform designed for endless grinding until the next paid DLC.

Lol, we both pick Wind Waker and have battle network navis. Good choice :)

Any map in Freedom Wars..

I just want to use my thorn and go all over the place but, everything is blocked off by invisible walls.

Completely this and it breaks my heart.

The sixth archstone in Demon's Souls.
And this. I kept waiting for it to be announced as DLC :(

Man every time Destiny Islands is featured in a cutscene in the Kingdom Hearts series, I've always wished I could go back there.

Lots of places in Shadow of The Colossus.

Someone even hacked the PS2 version to see what was in some places. Which is mostly nothing :(

I've always wondered why there's no city in Trabia in Final Fantasy VIII. I mean there's a garden there, where did those people grow up? There should have been a city there.

Any cut area from any game ever. I need to play there.

Also, almost any area from FFXIII =X, Cocoon and Gran Pulse seem like super cool places to walk around.

And I never felt like I walked around enough places in Anor Londo from Dark Souls 1. In the end it felt smaller than it actually was imo.

All of the locations from the first Golden Sun in Golden Sun 2. It took place in the same world but for whatever reason you could just never visit those towns and stuff.

Final Fantasy XII is about three countries: Dalmasca, Archadia, and Rosaria. I kept expecting to eventually go to Rosaria but you never can.

This is a video games school in Megaman Legends called YAG . The girl outside of it tell you that she has been learning to make games like Resident Evil . Beside the fact that it is kinda inappropriate to name drop an M rated game in a E game it kinda sucks that you can't go in this place . You can visit the hospital, the library ,TV station, museum, bank and the mayors office but you cant go in the game school .

I would be shocked if the next Dragon Age doesn't take place (at least partially) in the Tevinter Imperium. It's been mentioned countless times yet feels so foreign.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution- Upper Hengsha and Montreal. both was planned to be city hubs but didnt make it in time and were cut out of the game.

That's a good one. I remember seeing upper Hengsha and hoping that you could go down there. It looks so good!

I love Xenoblade for letting me explore everything that I could see, without exception.

Now you remind me of the Bionis Shoulder in Xenoblade Chronicles, which was basically a second Gaur Plains and appearantly the single biggest area in the game, including small villages and a bigger town.

I didn't even noticed it in any cutscene. This was cut from the game, so it doesn't count exactly as an "unreachable" area.
It was used in a cutscene and I stated that cut areas count anyway, since that makes it inaccessable.

The Dam level in GoldenEye 007 had an island that you could scope and clearly see from the Dam. I used to shoot it with paintballs and wish I could go over there.

There was talk about being able to drive a boat there, but we never got around to implementing the boat… Development was very freeform and unplanned back then – some things made it in and some didn’t. We really were working out how to do everything as we went along.

From what I understand it's there from a cut mission, if you cheat to reach the island the glass used in the building is of a beta type where it looks different and doesn't break when shot, so it's cool.

I did the same thing with my friends copy, we would spend time trying to figure out how to get there, we even spawned a boat using a gameshark like cartridge but it didn't move.
