Time and resolution is what phased it out. You want that story brought all day every day when it already was THE story for 2.5 months to start the season?

New personal conduct policy and panel. Ex-FBI head investigations and settlement between Rice and the Ravens. What else is there to the story to probe?

And 100 bucks that it is still brought up at least 1-3 times next week whenever the commissioner is made available.

Well, assuming this is all accurate on how it went down, it could be that Brady thinks this helps, regardless of if it actually does so or not. I mean, considering some of the weird superstitious stuff athletes often have this would seem downright rational. I mean, rational outside of the whole breaking the rules thing.

Rodgers inflates them to the limit allowed and then allows them to be inspected by the officials. They toss out the bad balls and keep the balls that are within the limit.

Brad Johnson and Rich Gannon mutually agreed to alter the balls before the game. Both sides had the same conditions. It was against the rules, but it isn't anything like this incident.

Members of the Patriots equipment staff are being accused of deflating balls after check-in. They were caught this week, but complaints have been coming in about this practice since at least November.

The Ravens asked the league to look into it, and warned the Colts before Sunday's game. The league planned to ambush the Pats' ball rack and check them at half time either way.

The Patriots cheated in the 4 point game against the Ravens, and the blowout against the Colts. This entire playoff run is tainted.

If proven, this is an example of indiscriminate cheating that has been happening since at least November of this season.

No true. Harbaugh explicitly denied this was the case and the NFL has said that they're the ones that have contacted the Ravens based on reports they noticed something. Additionally, we have reports saying the Colts noticed and reported this in November and then we have reports that the Ravens told them about it. Some of all this might be true, but it seems pretty clear that some of this is outright incorrect.

Against the Ravens, the alleged underinflated balls were used by both the Patriots and Ravens’ kicking teams. The league is in charge of the kicking balls, and the Ravens did not make a complaint during the game.

Harbaugh said nobody on his team noticed anything with the Patriots’ offensive balls because they never had a chance to handle those. He said they did notice softer kicking balls, but at the time, they simply attributed it to cold weather.

“As far as the kicking balls, you know it was 20 degrees out, so the balls were softer, our guys told us during the game. I just chalked that up to the fact that it was cold,” Harbaugh said. “Both teams were kicking the same kicking ball. I didn’t really think anything of it during the game. Other than that, it’s not something that I really gave any thought to at all.”

Kicker Justin Tucker also tweeted about the topic Wednesday afternoon:

"I haven't talked to a single person [with] NFL, NFL Security, or media about under-inflated footballs or anything of the sort. Just to be clear, anyone saying that I made any comments one way or the other regarding our experiences in [New England] is simply mistaken."
 
I really just wish Patriots fans would own it instead of coming up with defenses for it. That's actually more annoying for me than the actual rules breakage in this case.

Public comments are often different than what is actually happening. Teams try to avoid complaining about the officials or a game publicly. They often file reports to the league and mark off questionable calls and complaints.

Harbaugh already got in trouble for calling out the substitutions.

Then I don't know what you're annoyed about because no one in the past two days has really came up with a defense. We're all just playing the hold off on the hate until the results are in card. Telling people not to judge until all the evidence is in is apparently being hyper defensive though.

People will also report rumors and baseless accusations and "i heard it from this guy", which is the worst form of journalism.

People reporting on this have a shit load to gain if what they report is damning in any way to the Patriots because its entertainment and makes money.

This is a non-story, and we should instead be focusing on the league and why these rules are the way they are.
 
League was willing to suspend Lynch last week for wearing improperly colored shoes, wonder what the league would do with actual cheating.... Nothing probably.

If 12.5 is the perfect ball, as he says, and he checks each and every ball before each game he must know the difference between 12.5 and balls that are less. Why not say something himself if he's that picky about the the pressure?

Why don't you ask then? I'm from Georgia and support the Falcons, but I'm not ignorant to the ways of MULTI BILLION DOLLAR ORGANIZATIONS.

This fucking bullshit that this is somehow the patriots fault when other people are on the record doing THE SAME THING, but now suddenly, since its a team with a history, some sore ass losers from the Ravens and the Colts are running their mouth spilling dirty laundry about certain "understood rules" and how it's so fucking unfair. And now suddenly its this huge issues and gossip column reporters from ESPN and UNNAMED SOURCES are all tripping over each other to incriminate the Patriots. This is exactly what Goodell and the NFL wants.

What they don't want is asking why such a powerful organization is always so innocently ignorant to things that it is making the rules for.

Give me a fucking break.
