Fighting Games Weekly | Jan 19-25 | As Seen On WSHH

Maybe they really got it:

Faster gameplay and shorter hit stuns

This aspect has evolved the most since the Beta. Numerous testers brought up slow gameplay speed as a major issue, and we admit that we watered things down because we were cautious about introducing an entirely new style of gameplay. We were proved otherwise. So you can look forward to some very fast, intense gameplay!

Back from the dead!

Rise of Incarnates coming to Early Access on Feb 4.

Dev diary with latest improvements.

Apparently if you sign up now for Early Access you get some cosmetic items free.

Wish the dev diary went into more detail than just "it's faster".

"Custom Match"

YES! Lobbies! We in this!

Seriously though lobbies, finally, no we can actually play the game. None of that stupid matchmaking nonsense.

Also check this screenshot.

There are a ton of neat UI features there compared to EXVS. Like say you can see the cost of your character right under the HP bar. The cost of the opponent you are targeting is shown on the cost bar. Which is great for moments like "I just took out WZTV wtf why didn't we win?! Oh fuck you Quattre!". Don't really remember if that was in the previous iterations but those are still good additions and improvements to the UI.

EDIT:

The game is now much easier to process and should be available to play on a wider variety of graphics cards.

Maybe Dunpeal will quit his whining now, what with his toaster and all.

Stop you're restoring my faith and I'll just be disappointed. That one UI change on cost needs to be in every VS game from here out.

Unlikely.

The no counter hits thing is pretty funny to me as a Marth main. Half his game is fishing for counter hits. I guess since there aren't modifiers or a big bold "counter hit" thing flying about it's not there then. :P

Those are two different things though. Some games have both anyway.

It would be a start if you knew the difference between RAM and GPU. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Also yes the life bar stuff has always been in RoI.

Gonna be interesting to see how much it changed.

life sucks

lost my grandfather last year, now grandma just had a heart attack and is in critical condition

I know this stuff is like a matter of time, but I just saw her 3 months ago and she was as lively as anyone.

To be more on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing more RoI. Hopefully they overhauled that main menu system to play nicer with controllers while they're changing things

Damn. :(

Stay strong man. Here's to your grandma recovering.

Hang in there man. I've been there. All the best to you and your family.

meanwhile, i put a thread up about the RoI news here and immediately regretted it. Maybe Shouta will take pity and fix my date typo. Or just delete it altogether.

Pokken looks fun, super super spacing based game.

Heart Attacks are assholes that strike out of no where. I hope she pulls through and things go well. I

So somebody came into my house and stole my 360. It had my 360 copy of Mahvel in it, guys. They stole my Mahvel :(. At least they left the game case with FChamp's signature.

So if I sign up for multiple games at Evo, are all the games check-ins on Friday, or when the games are supposed to take place?
Also, is everybody supposed to check-in at 8 AM, or do you check-in when your pool starts?
And finally, how far is LAS from the venue?

Probably not gonna be able to get there until like 12 to 1 PM on Friday, but I really wanna go this year.

First day you get your badge.

After that you check in at the station you are playing at shortly before it's time for you to play.

Ok, so we can pick up our badges whenever, and assuming we're in multiple games, even if we're DQ'd from whichever game we missed our pools?
Or rather, who would I contact if I find out that I probably won't be able to make my first pools?

Since we don't know when the days/times we play will be for a while, just wanna know this ahead of time so I don't end up causing trouble for the staff.

LAS to the venue is really close, like a 20 minute shuttle ride.

Check in once you get there. It's a one time check in to get your badge, shirt and whatever else they offer but check your pools before you even arrive so you know what time everything is. Those should be up around a week before the actual tournament.

edit:

if you can't make your pool you'll just get DQ'd, won't affect anything else other than that pool.

So is it all throughout the 1st day, or only in the morning or something?
You need to check in at least twice: first for general registration (to get your badge, t-shirt, McRib, etc.) and then once for each game you're in. General registration opens on Thursday and you should do it then if at all possible, as the rush on Friday morning is way too real (and if you have an 8 AM pool on Friday, good luck). You check in for games at the pool you're playing at about 10-15 minutes before your pool starts (and Evo actually runs reasonably close to on-time... usually). Thankfully, if you're in multiple games your pools are staggered so that they will never overlap (but if you qualify for quarterfinals/semifinals, it can be a problem... like you'll do that. :p)

If you're going to miss a pool completely (it happens... it's Vegas), you don't really need to tell anyone -- they'll just DQ you through the course of the pool. On average, most pools have about 3-4 no-shows on average (the worse I've seen is twelve -- free byes!).

damn seems like there's no hype for this. I haven't been as active in these threads but I still read the fgw threads and I don't remember you guys talking about it.

I'm sure the day of the event will be hype, but right now there's really not much to talk about. Plus they waited until the day before to actually promote it.

Isn't apex happening today or something

AW FUCK I JUST REALIZED APEX IS THE SAME WEEKEND AS SUPERBOWL. Fucking god damnt.
