Since for the US all we have is the current Toys R Us stores to go off of.

I hope my preorders arrive before that, sheesh. It would be torture to just see them sitting on the shelves but resisting because you're pretty sure you're preorders are coming through.... in March.

Yeah, that's what the guy told me too. He mentioned that he was told very specifically to obey the 48-hour pre-order rule and that they'll be on top of doing the robo-call and personally calling about the pre-orders as they come in. Dude even told me he'd be leaving messages too.
Also he said they wouldn't be getting almost any extras either. I think I was the only one that pre-ordered from there he said.
If for some reason I miss the pre-orders like an idiot (which shouldn't happen because I check stock daily), what happens to my money?
I got a text when I preordered a game through the site for in store pick up.
They call you a day or two before & tell you which day you can pick it up.

Here's what I imagine the production line is told:
Wave 1: make 1 million Mario and 1 million Peach. Marty, Village People, and WTF Trainer no one cares about and won't sell crap so don't make many of them. The rest who cares just make enough.
Wave 2: make a million Luigi. I like his mustache so yeah make a lot of him. Arm Pit, Captain Faction, and Big Mac no one cares about them too.
Wave 3a: Bowser is my boy! If I were him I'd try to capture peach too you know what I mean? Toon link is pretty cool. Sheek, he's aight.
Wave 3b: just to mess with people we're gona split Wave 3 up! Hell yeah! These exclusives are horrible so let's just make a few. I don't know why these stores would choose these characters as their exclusives. Shulk? Isn't that the female hulk? Rosalina is some Latin hottie. Some stupid Knight that looks like the bubble gum in the quarter machines. And Lucario, wtf is that thing? Deedee looks stupid. Ike? Never heard of him, don't care. Sonic and Megaman are cool, I remember them. Make a ton of them!

Yeah this sounds pretty accurate with NoA :/ Let's forget how well titles like FE: A sold and how big Animal Crossing is here/
I think the biggest thing to take from all of this is don't trust any of the release/shipping dates you get online. No one expected TRU to get these 3 figures so early.
Anyway, managed to grab all 3 at my local TRU today. They were decently stocked on every figure except Sheik. There was only one left after I grabbed mine.
That said, Bowser may be the best made Amiibo so far, hands down.

The location I went to was Sunset Hills. There were no Shiek there, but I was not trying to get that one anyway.

I'm disappointed with amazon. Wave 1 went perfect with them and preordering. Wave 2 and 3 a complete mess.

I have GCU too and I've basically decided I don't care about the points anymore, especially with how difficult some amiibo have been to find/get. I placed preorders through bestbuy.com (for in-store pickup) for both waves 1 and 2 the day they went up, and I never got two figures from wave 1 (Villager and Marth) and three from wave 2 (Pit, Captain Falcon and Little Mac). I was lucky enough to track them down elsewhere in the weeks following, but it was a fucking chore.
Even though I had all of wave 3 pre-ordered from Best Buy, I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for other stores that get 'em. Case and point, I bought Bowser and Toon Link from TRU yesterday and proceeded to cancel them from my BBY order afterwards. I also went and preordered four of them from my local GameStop as backup several weeks ago. If those show up before BBY does, I'll cancel them too. I save a fortune on new games with GCU anyways, so it isn't like I haven't gotten my money's worth from the membership.

Yea Wave 1 was perfect for me.
Wave 2 was like 4 different shipments, but at least I got all of them, though most of them went from "We have no idea" to "We just shipped it".
Now Wave 3 has the same lack information that Wave 2 had. It's frustrating
I'm full of shit based on what I said yesterday, since I ended up making a trip to a Toys R Us (Alpine) for Amiibo. Plenty of Bowser around and four Toon Link were in stock, so I grabbed my favorite one from each. Disappointed at no Sheik, but expected since she has had low stock. Almost missed out on Toon Link too since he was right next to Link and other green characters. lol
Probably don't want to go back to that particular Toys R Us for Lucario though, the road system out there is a PITA for someone not used to the area.

Alpine is a disaster, especially during poor winter conditions. I grew up a few blocks south and always hated going on that street.
I think it goes, "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." But, all the same...
Seriously, I missed the turn for Toys R Us once I pulled in the drive, thinking it was further ahead with the other stores. As a result I spent like 10 minutes having to drive around by leaving the area and making a giant U-Turn.

I drop in occasionally and sometimes this thread just moves too fast. What amiibo are actually showing up in the wild? I have everything pre-ordered at GS other than the other store exclusives. A fellow Gaffer said they'd grab a Lucario for me and I also think I might possibly have gotten a pre-order of him from TRU Ebay but never got a confirmation so who knows. I also did an in store pre-order for Meta Knight at my local Best Buy. Only Rosalina eluded me and I'll have to try and pick her up in store. I though Feb 1 would be the date to go hunting but now the word is there are no street dates and it's sell when they ship. Soooo... ?

Given that TRU tweeted about them having it early, I'm betting it was some promotional deal that they got to release them early.
Yeah I don't get it. How/why is it that they have priority over all of the other major locations?
To what benefit? No one was really warned before hand :/ Screws over the other stores.

Exactly. People flock to TRU to buy them early, and thus TRU gets a huge wave of people coming to buy wave 3 from them first. TRU wants people shopping there, not at other stores.

Same here. When I heard the three were becoming rare, I could buy them.
When I heard Pit and Captain Falcon were rare, they were not even on store shelves.
Yeah, I've barely ever been down there since I mostly stick to my local area. Only went to that one rather than 28th street because IIRC either you or superNESjoe said they wouldn't stock Wave 3 at that store until today, hoping it would increase my chances for Sheik.

I live in Germany and I've never ever seen the amiibo being up for preorder and now that it supposedly came out it's nowhere to be seen so it went straight to mega rare here before ever making it to stores.
