Ever since I began my Tropes vs Women in Video Games project, two and a half years ago, I’ve been harassed on a daily basis by irate gamers angry at my critiques of sexism in video games. It can sometimes be difficult to effectively communicate just how bad this sustained intimidation campaign really is. So I’ve taken the liberty of collecting a week’s worth of hateful messages sent to me on Twitter. The following tweets were directed at my @femfreq account between 1/20/15 and 1/26/15.

Content warning for misogyny, gendered insults, victim blaming, incitement to suicide, sexual violence, rape and death threats.

Yeah, that's what I'd imagine. But yeah, if the portrayal of women in games and media was really a non-issue, then stuff like this shouldn't be this common, and any groups who oppose it should be apologizing for and calling out the sick individuals doing this. But that clearly hasn't been the case, so clearly some sort of issue exists

I feel like this is a dangerous attitude as well though. Sick, disgusting behavior like this is also a facet of humanity. You can't attempt to solve problems if you pretend the problems don't exist. This is a societal issue, which mean it can be changed with a lot of time and effort

TL;DR She found that one of her shitheel harrasers was trolling her with his FB account that had his real name and all, so she contacted and informed his mother of his actions. Funniest shit ever.
