The Order 1886: Official spoiler thread for all black bars

So I just watched a full playthrough of the game and
damn I'm annoyed at how many things don't get resolved. There's no resolution to the Hastings and Isabeau plots.

I don't think this is really a spoiler but I'll tag it anyway. Its about the final chapter:
I think Galahad picks up a gun that's not in the game during the last chapter. Strange decision to just show off a new gun in a cutscene and to just to have it knocked away.

makes me think the game needed to be about a third longer. Agree with both of you . Obviously the first one bugs me more.

I do think this is a case where they should be issuing copyright strikes for the videos because its such a story and visual game. If you watch it and lose interest in buying its the same effect as piracy.

They could allow smaller segments or earlier bits but uploading the full game play through is just like uploading a full movie to me.

I've been thinking the same thing as I watch through the game. Not much reason to play once you've seen the game since it's pretty TPS fare with some QTEs and no deeper mechanics.

Yeah, there is a lot about the final third of the game that suggests that they might have run out of time.

Yeah, the fact that the entire 3rd act is primarily
cutscenes and a single QTE fight points to that.

Edit: spoiler'd it so someone else doesn't stumble into the thread crying about it.

Thanks for telling us that. You are such a bumbo clat

I don't know what that means.

You're aware you're in a spoiler thread, right?

Also why don't you tell us the rest of the game.. make you feel better.. bumbo clat boy!

Ayy lmao. It's on youtube if you wanna watch it.

Is this game sold early anywhere ? Early leak since its exclusive

I've seen people claiming they got theirs from Walmart but it's still listed as "do not sell" or whatever, comes down to luck I think.

So you don't have to put spoiler tag on stuff

Even though this is the spoiler thread, spoiler tags are still courteous depending on the severity of the spoiler. There are countless spoiler tags throughout the thread already.

Also, from the OP.

Spoiler tag your discussions just in case someone walks in by mistake.

So you don't have to put spoiler tag on stuff

What they said wasn't that spoilery and since the game is out in the wild and you don't want to be spoiled it's your own fault for coming in here and reading up on things you don't want to know about.

It's not like we don't have another perfectly non spoiler Order thread on the front page.

So why some people put spoiler tags on stuff

Because some things are vaguely spoilerific, like mentioning the last third is mostly cutscenes, and other things, like plots twists or deaths, are major spoilers and are worth covering up with black text.

So why some people put spoiler tags on stuff

Some do some don't. I always use spoiler tags outside of spoiler threads, in here it's optional.

Serious question though, who comes into a spoiler thread expecting to be safe from spoilers?

Cool thanks.. I thought the thread died yesterday.. was on my phone and click on the wrong one.. my bad.

The entire fucking Order is a waste. There is no character development whatsoever save for a very meager attempt at back story at the very end, and that's it. I don't know who the fuck the Order are supposed to be other than daytime lycan pest control. Galahad is treated like a fucking newb for their contrived plot of corruption and deceit. The guy is supposed to be centuries old (right?) thanks to the Blackwater (which is NEVER explained, BTW) and he has no idea where he stands, and frankly neither do I. Where is this eternal struggle? What the fuck is a super secret Order supposedly doing meddling in mundane police matters? What the fuck is a lycan doing in broad daylight? Aren't these creatures supposed to be hearsay in the lore? Aren't the Knights supposed to be shrouded in deniability as much as these demons? Is there any actual mystery to these creatures? No. They're just big ass rats in the cobblestone streets. The lycans and vampires may as well be politicians. There is no semblance of the occult werewolf genre here. None.

It's like one very talented team came up with the art direction and concept of the Knights, and then a group of high schoolers wrote an empty, flat ass, substanceless suspense.

Ouch. Sounds bad.

That's not even the half of it. Flat characters, flat characters everywhere. The story in this game is like walking in halfway through the second Hobbit movie.

Since the game is largely story focused you should post some of these thoughts in the other thread, it feels like night/day difference in opinion and very few people on the fence are coming into this thread.

So is there any redeeming quality to this game? The story aspect seems to be the biggest draw and if that falls short...

It's too sensitive information, and it's not fair to other people who may find it sufficiently well written.

In fact, I regret going berserk about it. I'm just really bothered by those choices.

Looks like the honeymoon phase is over.

That's not really the point. The game is brimming with brilliance but it's like the story was commissioned or something.

It's puzzling. I've been super torn about it. I shouldn't have to wait for a sequel to get the cherry on top this needs.

Been reading the last 2-3 pages and I'm getting a bad (worse) bag vibe from this game. The constant rumors that the game is about 5 hours longs, all the QTE talk and lackluster story is all very disappointing tbh.

Will wait until this game is cheap, then I'll try it.

I wonder how many will ignore this part of your post lol.

I think we should focus on finding out what happened during the development of the game.

Did they run out of time? Where there massive rewrites? Maybe they had this huge vision that ended up getting hugely compromised. Because there's a smoking gun and that's how bold and confident the scriptwriting is. Really good dialogue that sadly falls flat.

Edit:

And also the acting and direction are top fucking notch, so it makes absolutely zero sense. I'm so torn I'm getting whiplash. Lol

I better just let it slide for a while until more people provide their takes.

Another unresolved plot thread:
what on earth was that whole deal with Sir Bors about? He turns up to save Galahad and then is never seen again

Alot of unresolved plot threads....but I think it was deliberately setting itself up for a sequel. That much is inevitable imo...this gmae should sell well after all the hype it has generated.

Also, I know talking about the game length is taboo here....but I checked all the chapters, at least 8 of the 16 chapters are 100% cutscenes with little but mostly no gameplay. Doesnt matter how fast you play the game, this fact does not change.

That said, I still think it is a fantastic game. Im a bit of a sucker for cinematic experiences.

Have you tried a second playthrough yet? Perhaps, like Max Payne 3, it makes more sense knowing what occurs?

do we really need to use spoiler tags in a spoiler thread?

annoying to click through all messages as the whole point of the thread is to discuss the plotpoints openly? :P
