The Order 1886 | Impressions Thread of not shooting the messenger.

Heads up Middle East GAF, the game should be available at your local shops.
I'd get a copy if my borther's interested SINce he's getting a PS4 next month =X

Dubai?

If so where?

I live in Oman and some of the games we get at one of my usual shops comes from UAE, so I assume it should be there too :P
If you're up for a trip, just go to Qurum, Al arami complex, bottom floor, thats my usual shop and you can trade in games to lower the price if you want

Yeh don't have time to go that far at the moment!

By the time I get back the game would probably be out by then properly anyway.

And I had just finished a GIF for the thread too, might as well post it here now. :P

Fucking
glorious

Infinite is a good comparison, never thought of that. One of my favorite games last gen.

Well. If The Order has a universe as well developed as Infinite, that's bloody great.

But if The Order has pacing as bad as Infinite, then the it's up shits creek with a turd for a paddle.

It sounds like The Order has phenomenal pacing, though, so I reckon it'll be better than Infinite for me. I just couldn't forgive the shitstorm that was Infinite's sense of narrative pace.

I don't disagree with you, it might have been more but not significantly considering I died a lot and searched every area thoroughly.

Absolutely – your estimate could have been spot on. A couple of other people have said the same thing, so that may be likely. I'm not sure who to believe – some estimates are like 6 hours and some are like 10. That's a pretty big difference.

Again, not that it matters anyway.

Hey crack-king, what is your stance one heavily scripted games in general?
I personally despise them even if they are perfectly executed (so I wont play this game anyway),
I'm trying to put your review in perspective to that.

I don`t have a problem with it, if it entertains me. I even had fun with the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Campaign. Nothing outstanding, but fun to play. Just like a transformer movie. Just turn your brain off and enjoy the action :D But The Order is much more adult

So the psn version comes with the soundtrack. How do they usually handle this? Is it just an app or is there a way to actually listen to it without your PS4?

Game Street in Dubai said theyd have copies today..
Will be going after work to check..

I would too but man the drive to Khawaneej SUCKs. it's so far away from where i am now. i think ill wait. I dont have a PS4 yet and will only get one if the general consensus is it's a good game.

Oneletter will we get to use the DLC weapons at all times? Or are they just skins for when you actually use the arc rifle and the thermite rifle?

I love those two guns and I barely get to use them, which makes me a sad panda. :(

If you are solely buying a PS4 for this game atm. Even if it turns out to be really great, I don't think it's worth it. If there are any other games out that you want to play on the PS4 now or the near future (e.g. Bloodborne) then sure.

Luckily I live and work kinda near to Game Street..
if only they picked up their phone for once *sigh*

My friend George finished it and I'll paraphrase his 'review':

- Game is slow to begin with, introduces the controls
- Visuals are impeccable, if slightly soft
- Sound design impressive, guns sound meaty
- Normal is somewhat 'easy', AI isn't particularly aggressive or smart unless you sit and do nothing
- Story was so-so, voice acting good if a little over-the-top
- Some of the QTEs are out of place and kill the pacing
- Playtime was just over 5 hours

I asked him for a score, he said 7/10. Main complaint was story and lack of innovation in the 'cover-based shooter' genre.

I can ask him something more specific if required.

This is like 90% of places out here. Gotta get used to it!

I'm in Business Bay at the moment so the drive down to Game Street would not be fun after work in all the Sharjah bound traffic.

Think I'll just wait till it releases proper to pick it up since I wont be able to spend time with the game till Friday afternoon anyway.

I want to support this but I dont want to pay 60 euros for 5 hours! I dont know what to do :(

Nothing that really stands differently compared to many of the other impressions here, personally. Thanks.

Indeed, I think any more detail would require spoilers.

He did say he would play through it again on hard with aim assist off, but would be selling it thereafter.

Honestly I would wait and get it second hand, I imagine there will be quite a few copies on Ebay for those only wanting to experience it once or twice.

Hmm, does seem to share quite a number of similarities with Ryse. It does look a lot more cohesive to me though. Seems to get closer to emulating a movie at least, Ryse look more like a tech demo to me. Great visuals and effects, but somewhat lacking in cohesion. Gameplay looks a bit more robust here as well.

He has an Xbox One as well and really enjoyed Ryse, much more than I did.

To be fair he is not overly concerned with the story usually, but when it's pushed so hard (like MGS) it stands out for scrutiny.

I have seen it being sold here in Kuwait for the past 5 days. I won't be getting it as I made a deal with a gaffer to get his Premium Edition. Which reminds me about all this talk on the game's length. People are too hung up about length really. It's a new IP so I'll support it as long as it interests me, which it does. Those same people would then complain why there are no new IP's in the industry. You got Captain Toad on the WiiU, a gorgeous and clever puzzler with over 70 levels at 40$ and people were still questioning the length if it was worth it or not, lol.

I think it just comes down to wanting the feeling of a good deal. We get marketed to so hard by publishers you rarely feel like you get the whole thing.

just how bad are the QTE's?
I have GREAT difficulty with those..
and I have raged quit games because of that

so do not pick on me because I asked
afterall I am a little old lady here... lol
