The Order 1886 | Impressions Thread of not shooting the messenger.

After approx. 3hours and a half in, near the end of chapter 3, already more than 30 screenshots taken, I must say it's a better game than expected.
Gameplay / gunplay is fun (though very linear), controls are tight, graphics are the best ever in a console game - no contest, frame rate is rock solid, sound design is top tier and voice acting is up there with TLOU... True, The Order doesn't try anything groundbreaking, but pretty much everything about it is polished and well done (except the AI).
I am impressed by RAD's "first" game, and now every other games I own suffer from obvious jaggyness...

that's, what i was expecting. will buy it tomorrow.

thanks for sharing :)

I'm of the opinion that medium is the better mode to play. It allows you to be able to navigate the combat areas more and use more of galahad's abilities such as melee's instead of being pinned behind cover.

Do you die super quick on hard? Like 1-2 shots or what would you compare it to?

Also, it's not easy to see when you're not searching for it but threads will be made when GAF discovers The Order has no / or very bad AF.

You heard it here first ;)

If those people are so scared of cinematic games, are they scared of COD style campaigns and mutiplayer? Cause that genre hasn't suddenly take over the world and its been making mad money for years now. These folks needs to realize, it's ok if I don't like cinematic games and others do. The world isn't ending and neither is video games.

Ofcourse COD has had major influence on gaming over the last few years. Although people would only have to worry about The Order if it were anywhere near as successful, which is impossible.

Seemed like 3 - 4 with normal enemies. Shotgun and sniper guys can be 1 - 2 though they are devastating. Medium feels like they're less accurate and it takes like a bit more to bring you down meaning you can traverse more.

Don't need to be afraid of more cinematic games. It's not easy to do. At least it's not easy to do well.
Rad needed 5 years for the order. I don't think others studios will put time and money for a new license even if the order sells well.

Whilst no game is going to be graphically flawless, I must say, the quality of the overall visuals and art direction in The Order really do make it stand out and appear considerably more CGI like than most games, even in screenshots. It's interesting comparing some of the areas in the game to similar locales in other games on the console, that are also of a similar genre and nature. Admittedly one is a Remaster, but it's fair to say that the leap here is significant, and that Naughty Dog will have their work cut out for them with Uncharted 4 to match this level of fidelity.

Playing the victim?
Fuck off!!!!

You need to simmer down there. You come in making an irrelevant post about a console and series that has nothing to do with this game, and yet you are flying off the handle because people confronted you for it? Sheesh.

If the Xbone had launched a gears of war hd collection this month I would have happily traded my ps4 and this in for it.

Okaaaaay then and the point of your comment is?

No thanks, I'm finished but still left wondering why you didn't see the point I am trying to make.
I know it's an impressions thread but there's no OT.
I'll never understand why some finish a post with anything else but then arrogance and being an asshole sometimes go together like fish and chips.

Playing the victim?
Fuck off!!!!

Yeah, you gotta go.

Man, that's beautiful.

Thanks for the impressions, definitely buying.

I'm pretty sure this game has quallity, even beyond its aesthetics. However I find it quite sad how they've made no effort into the replay value of this game. Why??! T-T

To those who have the game, could you answer a few questions? I am a self proclaimed graphics whore (but I obviously look for good gameplay, etc.).

- Do objects break realistically? For example can I smash a wooden chair and have it break differently every time?

- Can you examine items closely? Like the trophies in Smash Bros. or the items in Uncharted?

- When you shoot things in the environment do they break, etc? For example, if your in a room with bottles all over the shelves, etc. and you shoot up the room, will they all break, etc.

I remember reading about how Ready at Dawn was realistically modeling tons of different types of materials and was wondering if this went as far as realistically modeling the destruction of these objects.

Man, I can't decide whether to do medium or hard first. Decisions, decisions.

that marco user reminds me of a user who used to be on gametrailers forums, same name and always flew off the handle like that

Hard in 1886 is like normal in Uncharted.

There should have been a more difficulty than hard. Early lycan encounter i had took like 3 hits from them for me to die. Should have been 1 hit considering how brutally they killed someone a few minutes later.

Played around 1,5 hour. Lafayete becomes my favourite character ^_^. Need to go to sleep. Will continue again tomorrow morning. Yay for Chinese New year holiday.

Definitely playing hard then. Uncharted normal is pretty damn easy for me.

GT forums were always a glorious shit show.

Labwarrior was the most notable shit disturber.

Hard doesn't allow you to navigate the battlefield as much. You get hunkered down behind cover alot. I think on hard for instance I only got a small amount of chances to move up on the enemy and do melee's and what not. I'd suggest medium personally. They to me both offer a different experience with how you approach the game however. Medium would be better while learning the cover mechanics.

Breakables are pretty standard game stuff... Chairs, bottles etc. Sometimes a little more than in some games but definitely not "amazing". You can inspect certain objects as seen in that Sackboy GIF. When not shooting stuff, the "aim" button (L2) is a zoom / inspect button so if you enjoy looking at details, you're still in for a treat.
