This is literally the first time I have ever been interested in a Samsung device. The S6 Edge is really nice! Looks better than the iPhone 6 (in my honest opinion)!

Daytime is OK, but night shots have yet to turn out well. iPhone + Lumia with PureView are superior.
The recent Galaxy Note supposedly does a great job, but I'm not interested in phablets.

Don't submerge it in water? It's such a weird thing to complain about since there's like 2 high end phones that are waterproof (water resistant).

No SD card, glass back, ditched waterproof, less battery, no front speakers and same shitty touchwiz.
Other than a tad more power and probably a slightly better camera, see no reason to get this over the m9. For me at least.

Around ~95% of all phones sold there are waterproof. It's the only country in the world to have such a high ratio of waterproof phones.

You must not travel a lot. And yes, I'd like to be able to hear anything from my music collection without having to spend time figuring out what I might want to hear at some time in the future. I like that your solution is to carry a portable hard drive or a second device.
That is clearly a much more reasonable solution.
It's really looking like the G4 is my last hope. I prefer a removable battery and microsd slot.
Not feeling the M9 either. So as long as the G4 looks sexy I really don't care if it's plastic or better. I'm just gonna put it in a case anyway because I can't think of a phone I've owned that I didn't drop at least a few times.
If it's bad too then I'll reluctantly go with the Edge. -_-

Can you enlighten me on why that is? Makes sense why Sony makes most of their phones waterproof.

Tablet still require an sd slot.
An external hdd requires a laptop.
Separate mp3 player which won't have lots of space.
When I travel, I do mostly driving. Try again, this argument is flawed

I'd just like the G4 to have a better screen and a magnetic strip so the circle case would actually stay closed. I actually like the plastic backing as it allows for cases that are integrated into the phone.

How are you going to lug that around. You will need a backpack or a jacket everywhere you go.Something like this makes your life so much easier.
I wouldn't carry that if I was going to a friend's house or restaurant.
Phones are meant to be all in one devices. What's the point in this discussion anyway if any negative points will be met by this line of argument. Poor battery? Get an extra one to carry with you. Non-replaceable? Get a portable charging pack. Poor storage? Take an external HDD. Rubbish camera? Just take an SLR. Etc.
Some people do need 100GB plus. When you have a user who downloads a lot of apps, has FLAC music files, movies, VR demos, games for their emulators and so on, space becomes limited.

My friends with iPhones complain about it all the time. Some of them switched to the S5 because it was waterproof. Anecdotal for sure, but I doubt there is "literally no one" complaining.
Mainly because it was introduced as a solution to use your phone in the shower/baths.
In Japan a lot of the phone vendors there only ship domestically and so once one vendor did it, everyone copied them to market it as a feature as well.
That's why LG for example make a special version of their phones for the Japan market which is waterproof. It's called LG Isai if you want to check it out.

Notice the word "I". You apparently have. None of my friends or family or any people I see on a day in or day out basis have ever mention to me when we talk about mobile devices how great if they had a waterproof phone.
This is the only statement that makes sense to me and the only reason I can see people are complaining about the lack of it.

I agree, always bothers me when a manufacturer removes something then ends up adding it back anyway in a later version.
Something like this makes your life so much easier.

So as somebody who cares about SD card slots and decent battery life what are my options here?

But like you have stated, just get an S5 active if it really was a big deal. I can see a legitimate gripe with the removable battery and SD card being removed, but the this I can't. Sure would it be nice to have? Of course, so would if it was encased in an indestructible casing, but I don't see the big deal since none of these people who are complaining bought the S5 in the first place when it was waterproof.
Regular S6 is fine. Dat premium for Edge lol.

I haven't been following this too closely but do we know why they got rid of the waterproofing? I don't know much about what's involved with it but I'd imagine that if you got rid of replaceable batteries and sd card slots it should be easier to waterproof a device.
If the Samsung Galaxy S6 is successful LG might also remove the Micro SD card slot.

yeah that's my mindset right now. As of right now it seems like M9 is the best of the worst.
Isn't the G4 due to be released around the same time though? Would be silly to have it redesigned when there's no way of knowing lol

The G4 is already in production. Any change based of the S6's success or failure would be at least one year out.
