Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

:(

Though the fact that its a bit loose might mean that it could still fit in the smaller one. Hope still lives!

Still, its good to know how the fit would be for the sfxt bag, since there's a good chance I'll have to spring for that one instead.

I just noticed that Art's Hobbies never released a plexi for the HRAP V4... I have a feeling that the HRAP V4 Kai will not appear on the website either. Really curious about why he never added HRAP4 on his products... Is there other places doing plexi/art print for you like Art's Hobbies?

Edit: It is possible that the art part of the V4 is the same as the V3?

I'm pretty sure the main plate didn't really change between the V3 and V4. At the very least my V3 Kai and V4 Kai looks identical in that regard.

Man, I was not prepared for how loose the Hayabusa was going to be relative to my old JLF.

Unsure if it's a bad thing, though. Guess I'll see how I warm up to it.

Got the kai this afternoon. Working her in. Bust her open this weekend. Some very minor utility complaints. Not familiar with the components but like what i I feel so far.

Regarding the Mad Catz SF5 products. It is still too early to define what the range will be. We'll have more news later this year.

So are there no sticks with mic support yet on ps4?

Not direct 3.5 input like on PS4 DS4 controllers. The tech/spec is not available yet to third parties. Also the user experience isn't there yet for the competitive level. It's going to take awhile.

Just picked up a Naomi MvC2 with Third Strike in this Aero City cab (Buddy Marco in the pic)

Got my pre-order in for a VLX from arcadeshock!! Glad I was able to get one as I'm sure there are only 10-20 left at this point. Now I can rest easy.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

I don't expect an answer, but I figure I'll ask anyways. Will the SF5 branded stick coming out next year use the same exact case as the TE2 or will you guys design a new one?

MarkMan said they would have a lot of changes a page back. How many changes and how substantial that is? Guess we will find out more towards end of the year I'd assume. I like the TE2 I wonder if they'll try and build on the design into something else or just make small improvements.

Got my Kai in today, as well as my buttons from Akishop, which were quite damaged. Managed to fix them but Akishop will send me replacement micro-switches. I ended up replacing 6 Kuro buttons with 6 Seimitsu buttons and plugged the L1/L2 buttons, and installed a Sanwa-JLF stick. All in all I am extremely happy with this purchase. It's heavier than the HRAP V4 that's for sure and feels a lot sturdier too. Highly recommended.

Sorry for the shitty photos, it's night and I was too lazy to get my camera out.

It's just a drop in like the buttons? Any particular model JLF stick?

You simply unscrew the Hayabusa and screw in the Sanwa-JLF. Mine is the standard JLF. Just make sure it uses the P-1 bracket. Literally took me 5 minutes to install everything.

Got my RAP4 Kai from Amazon UK.

I don't really have any issues with it aside from my hands being just the wrong size, the lower palm which I rest my and on rests on a knife edge of the front slope of the case, any down movement moves it onto the slope, which is just annoying. I can possibly see my palm wearing away skin on it.

Wish the stick was like 1 inch more towards the back. Or my hands were slighty smaller or larger, so to either rest on the slope all time or not at all. It'll do until get a second PS4 stick, then my partner can use it, smaller hands so probably not an issue.

Oh and one button squeaks, but it is so quiet the stick movement noise or even the button press drowns it out. None issue.

That black base makes for a slick look with those colors. Any reason you went with Akishop over focusattack.com? I haven't ordered parts in years so I'm curious.

I haven't hard a chance to check out a buddy's non-Kai HRAP4, but this doesn't seem THAT much heavier than past RAPs. To me, it's right on the edge of acceptable weight.

Seriously, I don't understand this. I know people have preferences and respect that, but almost every account of anyone I've talked to online, in person, here at work everyone seems to agree the Hayabusa is at least as good as a JLF or better. I've been seeing people convert who have been long-time JLF users.

Why would you do this?! ;_;

I know that I've already mentioned this, but from my personal experience, the stick is too loose to the point where if I flick one direction, it will also flick to the other side before returning to neutral. It has happened to me in menus and had random dashes in game 'cause of it. Also, the Hayabusa has a longer throw, which some people may not like. I actually like the longer throw but I'm seriously debating switching it out 'cause the incorrect input is a deal breaker.

Yeah, definitely had this problem on a stock spring.

I would do something with Ibuki like. c.lk > s.mk, and instead of neutral, I would get a direction. Usually back.

No problems like that with a heavier spring, though, and it IS my favorite stick. But I can see why somebody would swap it.

Might do this then. I actually prefer the Sanwa buttons so I may swap it out from my TE1 stick, since I don't use that one anymore. If it didn't squeak, I may have just stuck with it :/

Hori is SSOOO close to making the perfect stick/button.

edit: OK, I remember why I didn't order it last time -- the shipping is more expensive than the actual item. Who pays $3.00 to ship a spring?

Had a long local GG session with my Hayabusa and it feels tighter than my Sanwa.

Also, perhaps it's a break-in thing, but Sanwa sticks seem more sensitive about hitting the sides while the Hayabusa seems more sensitive about hitting corners. Was actually doing wider DP motions the way I used to do them on US sticks to compensate, while moving to lesser motions for half circles.

lol. I ordered 6 at a time. :P

Wow, that looks really nice. And holy crap at those bent connectors. Every time I get an envelope stuffed with buttons I'm amazed that they arrived in one piece. Part suppliers need to get their act together when fulfilling orders. These are delicate bits, use a damn box for crying out loud.

I kuros back into my VLX and was playing some USF4.

Man...I just do not like these buttons, lol. Also, seems like all I have to do is breathe on them to get an input. I kept getting accidental taunts, ex moves, and red focuses. I guess the way I rest my hand over buttons while doing moves is causing accidental moves...either that or the buttons stick a bit and one is held down when I try to do something else.

Frustrating thing is it not being consistent enough to find out.

What buttons did you have in your VLX before? After hearing all these things about the kuro buttons I'm thinking I should probably buy replacements before my VLX gets shipped. And a 2lb spring too as you mentioned earlier I had no idea it was that loose.

I would say to hold off from buying it for now. You may end up liking them. You may also get one of the sticks that doesn't have that sensitivity issue. One of my sticks is worse than the other.

The HBFS packaging was quite impressive. Classy black box emblazoned with the GamerFinger logo in gold, and inside, the 8 buttons mounted in Vewlix format.

It's definitely a matter of taste. I have always preferred Sanwa OBSF over the Kuros, but now I'm replacing everything with HBFS! What I will say is that the Kuros are good enough to get you through a week or two even if you don't like them. Hell, I didn't even bother to replace the stock buttons in the HRAP4 I bought last year because I always considered it my "temporary" PS4 stick, something to hold me over just long enough for a real stick to be released (VLX in this case).

One thing you may want to watch out for is limited stock at FocusAttack and ArcadeShock. When I tried to place an order for a full set of black OBFS-30s, I was unable to do so at either of those otherwise excellent establishments, so I ordered them from akishop instead (also a good place). If you're picky about color and/or type (silent vs regular), you may have to scrounge around a bit.

I tend to stick with sanwa, but I wanted to continue to give the kuros a chance. I don't want to buy any more buttons, but I don't have any that I would like with the color scheme of the black vlx. :/

Man, I know that looks technically don't do anything to make the stick better, but just changing out the button colors and the joystick ball makes a huge difference. Makes me want to buy one too, but I know it's just... NOT... WORTH IT. Maybe if I keep saying it, I'll believe it.

LOL, it really does. Those are the kuros in there now. Normally I have some blue sanwa, and in my Red VLX I have some custom made sharingan buttons (huge Uchiha fan :P):

I just like my stick looking different if somebody has the same one.

Beautiful looking Diamond there!

Thank you! By far my favorite stick. :D
