BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

holy shit, that was a 47 second loading time (when he died and spawned)...

The load time from the cathedral to Firelink Shrine seems to be around 11 seconds.

45 second loading time then after dying. Apart from the loading this game looks amazing.

The load times suck, but I don't see it being an issue for me. You can play good chunks of time without dying/warping.
It's a big issue for PvPers and people who want to replay bosses over and over again (purposely dying on them) :/

I don't wanna spoil too much of the game but is it confirmed that Skill is the new Dexterity and that gun damage scales with Bloodtinge? If so I might start off with that Scion.

I was hoping my stream was messed up but I guess that might have been a real load time. Maybe day 1 patch will improve that.

Yeah, I was quite irritated by that behavior...why would anyone (on a first playthrough at least) do that !?

It's great that they can, and if he wants to play it this way, more power to him.

Fuck games that keep taking the controller away from you every time a character opens their mouth. It's so annoying on repeated playthroughs.

Oh god, I didn't even think about PVP.

From pls.

Ok

I'm getting so frustrated. I must me doing something wrong other than sucking.

I have played around 5 hours now and have made zero progress. I have not even fought a boss.

This is my first souls game so I'm sure there is a learning curve...but not this steap !

any tips?

The first virgin sacrifice.

His gun does shit for damage. He uses it to agro single enemies out of groups.

It's not a DPS tool. It's used for staggering enemies. He has 20 bullets. He should be using it a lot more. Especially on stuff like the dogs that are super agile.

ok so essentially I should be doing this

- small adventures followed by either backtracking to cash in points, or continuing to a point where I can unlock a way back? then go spend the points and do to all again until I'm a higher level/better gear?

I should not be playing it like a point a-b adventure game?

btw this game is remarkable. I'm punishing myself but its so so so good.

Basically, yeah. In Dark Souls for example, resting at a bonfire reset all the enemies but let you level up. Only difference here is that you have to go back to the Refuge to actually level up. Really what you want to do is level up or spend your souls every time you find a new lamp, or find a shortcut back to an older lamp. Means that if you die and can't get your echoes back you won't have lost a huge chunk of potential progression.

Health potions (the variation we're used to see, at least) only cost 40 a pop. Good price.

Some perspective: the earliest small enemies you kill grants you around 50 souls.

Load times are bad for sure. But at the same time they don't bother me too much. Small price to pay for a game that looks this gorgeous.

This is a solid strategy for when you're still very new to the game/souls gameplay in general. It's the way to avoid frustration and ease yourself into the mechanics.

He's definitely just walking right into enemies and swinging. Seems like he should be using guns to stun a lot more and way more dodging for openings. That's how I understood the new combat to be. With no shield you have to be very proactive.

And no weapon transforming...
