Bloodborne Press Preview Impressions (16/03/2015)

Guys, my local Walmart has Bloodborne out on the shelves. Should I buy it? Will they let me?

Based on my experience, no. The register will alert them that the game’s street date isn’t until the 24th and won’t let it be sold. Unless you can get lucky and have a manager override the machine, you’re out of luck.

I tried to do the same with Infamous: SS last year.

Yep. Same exact same thing just happened to me. Oh well, I wanted the digital version anyways.

Go there again, break the plastic really badly, show it to a guy working there, let him tell you that you now have to buy it, put the cover in another ps4 case. Done.

Oh, man. This sounds so good.

Great impressions and the gameplay I've seen on streaming sites are making the wait unbearable.

there are stores, who put the actual game on the shelves, but won't sell it?

Probably by mistake. I can't imagine any retailer would want to annoy their customers by refusing to sell an item they can pick up and carry to the register.

If it happens at Walmart a lot, it might just be because nobody gives a fuck what they're doing.

It really does. I use to work for them in their back room. Even I let certain games go out to the sales floor to be put out just so I could try and purchase said one before release date. The system itself won't allow it to no matter what they do. So in that case some electronics employee had no idea what they were doing and stuck it out on the shelf.

I got a video at Target that was mistakenly put out prior ot release the same way and the way I got it was to tell the truth...my Daughter and I were on our way to a birthday party where the girl wanted my littel pony videos, nothing else, and this was the only one they advertised on the shelf. The manager eventaully overrid after I kept politely and assertively refusing to leave without getting the Pony one. The key is to be polite, have a kid there with you start crying and looking cute, and remind that it was their mistake to stick it in our face as customers and we should not have to be dissappointed after getting our hopes up.

i think the repercussions for a store selling a game early is higher than selling a my little pony video

either way, no one is going to find out....all you have to do is convince the manager you are not a plant QA guy from head office etc. Trust me...the kid helps, interact with the kid, get kid to speak to the manager etc. I sail over the border both ways and never get checked with my little cutie in the car!!! (but have the wife sign a papaer just in case though)

Lol.. I just imagined an innocent cute little kid crying for a brutal game like Bloodborne. The kid trick wouldnt work on this game I think.

Or just walk to almost any Fred Meyer or get in good with a small gameshop owner and don't spread it around.

The closer we get, the bigger the hype gets!
Such strong previews.
Never played a Souls game but I'll definitely be picking this up. Day 1.

I knew a guy that had a local shop that sold me a few games early but then he stopped. I'm not sure what happened, maybe he was found out or something. I should have been more friendly with him so that he saw me as trusting or whatever and recognized me when I came in.

Don't worry Gies will find a way. Dks2 was multiplat, bloodborne is PlayStation exclusive.

Yeah, I don't normally think games journalists have 'bias' per se (I think if there's any negativity surrounding PS exclusives, it's because the sort of games that Sony tends to put out is just different than the preferences of a lot of reviewers these days), but Gies is clearly just a weird little man with his own agenda. It's so flagrantly obvious that I don't know how anyone can take his reviews of an exclusive seriously.

Conspiracies already? Wow, crazy. Especially when all previews are saying the same thing: "this is shaping up to be a really great game

Eh, they sort of have a point, there will probably be outlets who will post "clickbait" reviews giving the game a lower score. This will mostly be due to it being a high profile (at least to the hardcore) exclusive game, so that idiotic fanboys on both sides will go and argue/gloat about it. I look at the 7 that Gies' site gave to TLoU and can't help but laugh. I can see a similar thing happening with this game.

I'm getting feels this might review as high as DS2.

It's not really relevant, since most of the DS2 reviews were front-loaded in the first week by people who didn't have enough time with it yet, if you're using useless sites like Metacritic for user reviews. Critic reviews were about as bad too, and with how much everyone was enamored with Dark Souls, part of that hype carried over into the very subjective reviews. Dark Souls 2 was enough "Dark Souls" for that high to carry over initially. Dark Souls 2 is an 8.5/10 game. Which is still great, but it's still not really relevant to Bloodborne. Review wise that is.

1. /care
2. Demon's and Dark Souls were pretty niche, underground games when released, and reviewers pretty much liked them for exactly what they were. Dark Souls 2 came out later when word of mouth had spread so much that it already had become a pretty hyped title. It still scored 9's all over the place.

Edit: and I didn't care about TLOU either. Nice world and nice characters, but the gameplay was repetitive and the shooting and fighting mechanics made dying was annoying instead of deserved.

That doesny matter much when some sites will judt want a massive traffic influx by giving a great game a bad sscre.

I still feel DkS 2 deserved the scores it got. It's highs aren't as high as those of Dark Souls. But it's certainly more consistent and man, that game had some beautiful vistas.

And myself, like many others, really liked it while playing. It was hard to name a favorite between Dark 1 and 2. It's only after a while that I remember Dark Souls as something a bit more 'magical' than Dark Souls 2.

Dark souls 2 was soo bad, it's not even funny.

I know bloodborne is from Miyazaki, but I still won't buy it day 1.

edit: missed the "2".

Is that a definition of shit/troll post or just posting "you know youll be eaten" opinion with wrong facts to begin with? (If, in fact, Randam didn't know that DkS was done by Miyazaki)
