Bloodborne Press Preview Impressions (16/03/2015)

The guide has been delayed to April 10 on Amazon. :(

I thought I'd still get it next week since I pre-ordered it as soon as it went up, but no dice. Oh well. That dynamic theme will have to wait.

Yeah but you have us! and 128 more pages is nothing to scoff at.

Newegg canceled my Collector Edition Preorder, anyone know if GameStop is taking preorders for the CE still? Will go to amazon if that doesn't work out. Hopefully gs does then I wouldn't have to wait on shipping.

Been avoiding a lot of Ign and other spoilerish videos but these impressions sound good.

that sucks...gamestops in ny have been out for a while.

Dark souls 2 was soo bad, it's not even funny.

I know bloodborne is from Miyazaki, but I still won't buy it day 1.

edit: missed the "2".

Just so you know, Dark Souls 2 was developed by a different team.

Bloodborne was developed by the same team (miyazaki included) as Dark Souls 1.

Also, Miyazaki was less involved in DS2, look at his wikipedia page
Miyazaki took a less-involved role in the development of Dark Souls II, supervising the project while Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura co-directed.

So, saying you'll wait on Bloodborne because of DS2 "bad quality", isn't the greatest point, and you've been wrong this whole time.

Gamestop hasn't had them available for pre-order for a while.

Dark souls 2 sold and was reviewed pretty well.
Who knows if Miyazaki didn't take some elements from it.

I'll just wait a few days and check out eveverybody's impressions.

I'm not in a hurry to get my hands on the game anyways.

While a wise move, I remember reading a few statements from Miyazaki personally where he states that FROM is aware what worked and what didn't in Dks 2, and went on to say that they decided on a more coherent and interconnected world a la Dks 1. Furthermore, they specifically decided against soul memory mechanics and reverted back to the tried and true formula seen in Demon's and Dks 1.

It's back up on amazon.

Nice to see they have given consideration to Remote Play controls.

Looks like I will be dropping every other game and sinking into this next week. Fun fun.

While I have been mostly on media blackout, this is music to my ears!

Thanks for the responses.
How many pages is the artbook in the CE anyways?

It's looking like $95 for the CE via Amazon with release day shipping or getting a friend's GS discount for the normal version for $56. Already ordered the Guide through amazon so that big book should fill the void haha.
Damn Newegg not getting them I really wanted the CE for $79.

Do we know if there are going to be a lot of different clothes/armor? Ive only really seen the standard outfit and that bird one.
yes lots...at least 19 sets.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
=> The page count is increased from 400 to 528 pages.
=> The Collector's Edition guide is delayed to include important game changes applied through the Day-One-Update, ensuring that it will be up-to-date and that online-only elements are covered.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

And so the nightly hunt begins...
From the same team that created the critically acclaimed Dark Souls II guide comes a new invaluable treasure. We've gone behind the scenes with Bloodborne's creators to unearth every secret hidden within the mysterious city of Yharnam. Your hunt through the streets of Yharnam will be your most exciting and rewarding journey yet, and the road will be hard. But fear not! This guide is your key to mastering the merciless challenges and navigating the darkest depths of the city.

BONUS CHEST
=> Exclusive interview with Bloodborne's creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki
=> Lore index to aid in your research of this dark world
=> The Art of Bloodborne -- every page is a masterpiece of its own
=> Exclusive Dynamic Theme: let the Hunter's Mark adorn your PS4

Training Manual
Yharnam's no place for novice hunters. Understanding how Bloodborne works starts here, and anyone who doesn't arm themselves with understanding of its intricate systems will be quickly cut down.

Hunting Grounds
From the streets of Yharnam to the end of the nightmare, critical routes and rewarding detours are plotted on detailed, invaluable maps. Text points highlight events, encounters, and tactics for each area's key landmarks. This hunter's compendium leaves no paving stone unturned.

The Bestiary
A good hunter knows his enemy's weaknesses. He knows their behavior. He knows what it takes to kill them efficiently. Study your prey carefully and discover all of the elements that make them what they are -- and then the hunt is on!

Arsenal & Attire
Your weapon's only lethal if you know how to use it. Here you'll learn about weapon properties, hidden damage modifiers, attack ranges, swing speeds, and much more. Whether you're hunting beasts or other hunters, you'll have the knowledge... and the advantage.

The Chalice Dungeons
These mean labyrinths of death provide an unending treasure trove of discovery and despair. Though the walls may shift and the denizens may change, we have prepared exhaustive notes detailing the horrifying and mysterious Chalice Dungeons. Their rewards are matched only by their challenge; don't rush in unprepared.

Hunter's Appendices
The world of Bloodborne is deep and populated by fascinating people and deadly creatures. Finding all of the NPCs is a first step, and completing their quests is another. We offer more than that, though; here you will find behind the scenes info on the world and its characters from the people who created it! If you seek 100% completion and total mastery of Yharnam, search no further.

damn...thats a big delay for the guide. whats the point in it coming out 3 weeks after the game?

make sure the extra 128 pages they added because of day 1 patch are edited/proofread and correct? and reprinted of course.

plus. that's more chances of images being added to the 128 extra pages ;P

Better to have an accurate guide than having a guide at launch. There were some changes made in the recent patch that they needed to fix in the guide.

Plus, these games are best played without a guide. I had the guide pre-ordered but I wasn't planning on using it until playthrough 2 or 3 once I wanted to find out what I missed. Figuring out things on your own is part of the fun in Souls games. Good opportunity for the community to work together as well.

obviously it needs to be accurate and up to date but 3 weeks? Anything associated with the game gets a pass. should be out day 1.

Might as well ask here: is Cowboom the best place to get a cheap PS4? Trying to spend as little as possible since this is the only game I'll be playing on it for now.

I guess it depends if they started printing already...I think both SONY and Futrure Press recognize the absolute PLETHORA of new fans to the franchise that are out there to grab right now...this is their chance....just think of all the other gmaes and guides they can sell with the in depth appeal a new FROM game has had. I have to think they might have already started printing at least some of the guides based on the OLD data. Definitely checking my copy to ensure that it is the newer verisom and complaiing to amazon about my rush shipping...I want a discount as I paid more than double the cost of the book to get it shipped as early as possible....which now, isnt early at all.

Personally I think its a big gamble to send so late, but obviously their biggrest knock was that the guide was outdated in X weeks in the past....a substantial day one incongruence would IMO be the worst of the two evils....kind of screw up either way but damage control is what it is.

oohhhh myyyy goddddddddd

Just got the call

I'm playing Bloodborne today.

Keep that bag on bro cause "....I'm gonna cut. you. down!"
jk congrats enjoy >.<

dont get it on cowboom... they usually dont include a gamepad or AC adapter... and if does, theres a good chance you get one of the first batches with the bad sticks which means you are spending an extra $50+

Is anyone else have their guide still scheduled to be delivered on 03/24? I haven't received an email or notification saying the date has changed.

Any Best Buys near you? I got the CE for $63 with GCU (+ I had a $50 gift card so I got my CE for $17 after tax). They're sold out online but you could check a store near you if there are any.
