I will say right off to bat, this is not an impressive looking game, on a technical visual level.

The IQ is not as good as I'd hoped.

Artistically however, it's wonderful.

So when a weapon has a C in Bloodtinge, D in skill, and D in Str it is not suggesting : level up Bloodtinge, Str, and skill but focus more on Bloodtinge it is saying focus on Bloodtinge, nothing else matters really?

plz respond ;)

So I should not be concerned if a weapon scaling stat seems to encompass multiple stats, it is only the highest one that matters? So quality builds will probably only focus on one stat and vitality and stamina?

Highest matters most. Other stats should just be levelled to minimum needed to equip the weapon.

In your example bloodtinge would matter most.

A quality build focusses on allowing you to use a wide range of weapons. You might not do the most damage but you're flexible. Whereas going all out in one stat maximizes damage but restricts flexibility.

What build will be best for a dark souls novice?
Invest in HP and endurance, don't invest too much in strength or skill until you find a weapon moveset you're comfortable with (then invest in the stats that scale that weapon's damage best). Bloodtinge is for guns, so only increase it if you're sure you'll have plenty of bullets to use. Arcane is for items and magic, and is probably the worst skill to increase for a newbie.

Your choice of origin only determines your starting stats. For example, even if you choose an origin with low Arcane, you can invest points in arcane just as you can with other origins.

Looks somewhere between a last gen remaster and a current gen game with mind blowing art.

That's a great shot. Is this from Cabin in the Woods?

How are you guys feeling about raising bloodtinge? It feels so risky.. but I like risk. that's why I'm here to begin with.

Ill be watching along while I play myself, thanks! Will add you on psn as well, I need more people on my friends list that actually plays souls games lol

nice :) me too!

so can someone explain how exactly bloodgems work? Are they permanent? Can you simply swap them in and out between weapons? Can they be upgraded?

I wonder if this thread breaks all neogaf records in terms of the number of replies and views.

Sucks to be in Australia...one more day of waiting!

Finally feeling sleepy... gonna try and close eyes... Good night and good luck in the review thread!

The OT has me confused...does your class selection actually have a third effect? And if there is one, does it correlate into "waste of skin" having some sort of advantage over other classes? Or is that just a hardmode class and nothing else?

waste of skin is probably the hardcore class with no benefits outside of bragging rights.

This makes my possible
chikage
focused build feel stupid but at least my weapons will be decent. .

When the reviews, 20 mins? I really should get to sleep but I'm so intrigued.

In 20 mins, the hype train will

A) Fly off into the sky, rocketing gloriously towards the radiant Sun!

B) Crash messily, leaving hundreds maimed and banned in it's wake.

C) The Old Gods deceived us, and the hype train was merely Thomas all along. A hype train indeed, but one that will slowly, oh so slowy come to an uneventful halt.

Waste of skin gives you maximum flexibility in making your character's stats exactly what you want them to be since it has less pre-allocated points.

it sounds a lot like "the deprived" in dark souls.

starts out lower level than the other classes, but since you can allocate your own stats earlier, you waste less points and end up with better stat growth in the long run. But yeah, that's for hardcore players if so.

It's hard-mode but it also allows for the best possible optimization since there are few points invested already.

I'm catching up on this thread right now, only on about page 19, will never catch up. Waiting for the reviews and I'm in the UK. Not buying til the 27th (payday). God I cannot wait for this. I know I will be terrible at this but I'm looking forward to learning and getting hints off of everyone here. I'm going to buy digitally so I don't rage quit and sell it and so force myself to play it even if it's damned hard. Everyone says these game are hard but fair. They better be right!

By the way, there's been a couple of very high quality gifs posted so far that make the game look vastly superior to any streams or clips I've seen from any source. If these are legitimately captured from the game then holy hell, it looks stunning. Even if I'm dire at this and it takes me years to finish it I'm going to soak in 'dat atmosphere.

I'm predicting, from all I can see and hear, that this game will be a huge success, critically and perhaps even sales wise too.

Origin selection only determines your starting stats and blood echoes. Waste of skin starts six levels below the other character origins.

Amazon has me so confused. I see tons of people in the same boat as me, CE stuck in limbo, but mine is STILL saying delivery tomorrow before 8 PM. It has not changed, when it seems everyone else's has.

BUT, it also has not been changed from Not Yet Shipped, NOR have I been charged. I've heard stories of people getting their packages, where the shipping info never changes until after its delivered, but I have no real idea if that's what'll happen for me.

Waste of Skin starts at a lower level but has more stat points to ultimately allocate, and as such is the most flexible class as far as character progression. The other Souls games all had a similar class (though Royal in Demon's worked a bit differently).
