I've killed 10 bosses, but I still don't know how to open the gate next to the Clinic, at the very beginning of the game.

Anyone help me out?

There is a poison cave in the forbiden woods thats by the area where those dogs are in cages. Its a cave on the left thats kinda hard to see. traverse this poison area and come to a ladder go up and up and you will end up in cemetary which is on other side of that gate.

Ok guys, Quick question. . . How do you know when you're being invaded? I got the bell ringing woman message, but is there a cue afterward to tell you an invader is on their way, or do they just show up?

The game notifies you when you're invaded with the exact name of the adversary.

So I killed
Amelia, blood starved beast and the witches.
I just ran around for like an hour trying to figure out where to go next. I have the
odeon's tomb key
but no idea where the doors are.

co-op just doesn't seem to work currently, I've been able to summon one person in 2 days, using up like 30 insight in the process.

Final time: 23:38:51

And that's with me fumbling about for a few hours. I can't imagine how fast it would be if I knew where I was going.

Just for reference:

I have beaten 5 bosses and my timer is @18:30h. Granted, I take my time to stroll about and usually double and triple check areas so that I don't miss anything. I am not even doing bad as in I don't die a lot. I just take my time.
The finishing times of these games vary greatly depending on how you approach them. I very much expect more than 40-50h of playtime out of this.

Rom
...what?

how exactly are we supposed to get past the million spiders to hit him. I mean I got him to about half, at which point there are so many spiders I cant find a opening to get in there, not to mention the ice (but that I avoided most of it)

what am I missing?
Kill the adds!

Ugh game glitched on me, I lost the
Tiny Tonitrus. I open the chest, got attack so I ran over to kill the dude. When I came back to the chest the item disappeared. Tried reloading it and it doesnt show up :/ Do I need it for anything important?

It will usuall say it has resonated with someone and then it will tell you their name.

Any one figure out of there's any uses for the
Mensis Cage
? I'm running around all over with it and the
crown
trying to figure out where they can be used.

So WTF, do your blood stains go away if you quit the game before getting them back? I made sure I know where I died while fighting the second boss and my blood stains aren't there. I was worried too because the same thing happened on the first boss. I never found my blood stain there. Or can bosses take your blood echos too? If so, that's incredibly stupid. It's one thing if just a regular enemy can get them but a boss? :/

They should still be there. They are left on the ground where you were about 10 seconds before death. A mob may pick them usp, not sure if bosses do.

you CAN kill it but your basically supposed to die so you can get your weapons
Yeah that was cool. Oh I love the atmosphere and I really feel afraid when I meet those 12 guys on the main road with a wolf, and they can shoot. Of course I died.

It's only earlier this week that the Souls games really clicked for me. So these weeks I will go through Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and Demon's Souls for the first time.

I think I named my guy Terrence Bantham.

PS: What are the Spectres supposed to show? There's a lot of them. Is it just actions other players have made?

Whenever you teleport to a lamp all your vials get refilled from storage automatically.

oh so thats why sometimes I spawn from bosses with vials and other times I dont
thanks

pretend you're in American Gladiator

It's an item used to cast a magic spell if you're going heavy arcane build.

The
woods
have made me hate those damn dogs more than any enemy possibly ever in a Souls game. They are so damn fast and aggressive and appear out of nowhere. Sure, they go down in just a couple hits, but that doesn't help if two come out of nowhere and take you down before you can react. The fact that
pulling a leaver to open a shortcut also unleashes three more on subsequent runs
is also super evil.

Take a right turn before the bit with the dogs (there's a lone hunchback) and you can drop down to the path after them without needing to face them

W T F. Followed a path in cathedral ward right from V
icar
A
melia
where you first fight two
hunters
. If you follow the path further there are two
hooded axe guys and two "snipers". Then there is a huge hall which already gave me "NOPE" vibes. Tried to open the gate at the end of the hall and a huge ghost/demon grabs me and i die.
So i assume this is some endgame/special super side mission shit. Bye bye 14k echoes.

I would but they have a ton of health? I was barely scratching them, and I 2 shot things like the
sack guys
for example
Is it because
you're hitting their face? Hit the sides of them, it's their weakpoint.

Kill the spiders in the first phase, then dodge the ice. For phase 2, go in real quick and afmttack his sides and get out.
Observe his attacks and know when to dodge. Do the same for the last phase.

If I have this down... the REQUIRED zones/bosses in the game are the following:

Father G (Yarnham)
Amilia (Grand Cathedral)
Shadow of Yarnham (Forbidden Forest)
Rom the spider (Bernham)
The Unborn One (Unseen Village)
Micolah The Nightmare (Nightmare Menses)
The Wet Nurse (Nightmare Menses)

The main game definitely isn't long if that's all you do but the optional content takes up more than the main game!

Cleric Beast (Yarnham)
The Starved Beast (Old Yarnham)
The Witch (Hemwick)
Amygdala (Nightmare Frontier)
Paarl (Unseen Village)
Logarius (Cainhurst Castle)
Celestial Emissary (Upper Cathedral)
Daughter of Cosmos (Upper Cathedral)
Gerham (last boss you don't even have to fight him)
Moon boss (secret final boss)

The spiders' faces are stone. Hit their soft, fleshy bodies.

IMO that is a largely useless item. it's essentially a spell, you can trade bullets to cast it.

Nothing. That fight is just that way.

This game has a ton of optional areas. But yeah, the main line of the game is fairly short.

That totally depends on the skill of the player and if he is constantly walking because he is scared ^^. I'm at 20 hours and only at
Rom ? that Spider thing

They should still be there. They are left on the ground where you were about 10 seconds before death. A mob may pick them usp, not sure if bosses do.

I knew regular enemies could, but bosses too? Can someone else confirm?

I know exactly where I died or the general area where I was at the time. I ran all around the area where you fight the second boss while he was chasing me trying to find them (he's really easy to avoid in the first part of the battle anyways). But I still didn't see them anywhere. It's happened to me twice now on bosses.

Saving this post for my inevitable speedrun(s) of this game. Excellent post.

Edit: I did 16/17 bosses in 4 ½ hours in NG++. Imagine if I skip all the optional ones...

Did you get the Cainhurst Summons item from there?

Once you do go back to the Witches Abode checkpoint and just walk back to the other lamp... you will get a carriage on the way back. Enter it to go to Cainhurst.

That's the problem, I can't get the
summons
. It's not here

Are there lamps you can light that you can't teleport back to? I just opened a new area to the right of the cathedral lamp, and I can't teleport back.

Kill the little ones, first. They don't respawn. It took me just a 3-hit combo per: Two hits knocked them up to expose the underside, then one killing blow. After that, you can just run up and hit the boss when you feel like it, then he'll teleport. Rinse and repeat.

It's disappointingly simple.

So I killed
Amelia, blood starved beast and the witches.
I just ran around for like an hour trying to figure out where to go next. I have the
odeon's tomb key

Go back up to the graveyard bit in cathedral ward with the 2 big axe giants, take the passage to the left. When you come out there's a crow and a kind of hag woman, go left and you'll run into that knight guy (can't remember his name off the top of my head). Next to him is a set of steps down to a door that needs a password which you should have now

So how do note appraisals work? When I read one I see that I can choose to rate it good or bad. That's cool.

But it doesn't seem to actually tell you if the other 11 appraisals agreed or not. So what's the point? Do ones really poorly rated disappear?

Messages that are rated lower than 0 will disappear more quickly. If someone rates your message up, you get some of your HP restored if you're playing at the time.

where am I supposed to go after FG?
is the gattling gun guy where Im suppossed to be?

Yeah. That's a tough section of the game.
You can run past him and his friends, or carefully fight your way through. Both work. There is a way to get up on the tower and kill him. The best thing to do is to knock him over the edge because he's hardcore.
