I think something might be up with his clone. I mean, even if they were meant to die in years, were they ever really that strong? The Halo Legends short seemed to suggest to be that the clones were just ordinary and became physically handicapped pretty quickly.

Then again, I've never read the books, so I could definitely be wrong on that.
