Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

Looks like another Persona game pretty much. I'm actually incredibly disappointed. I don't consider the series bad but this game was never presented as being such. In fact, in the original reveal, I'm pretty sure all of the Atlus characters in the trailer were from mainline SMT, which makes this product kind of mind boggling. Either way, we already had Persona Q last year, and now we're getting P5 and Dancing All Night. Even if I wasn't bothered by just the anime pandering that seems to have been embraced with P4G, it's just completely unnecessary to inject elements of that series into other projects that would have been fine without them.

There seems to be a sentai theme going on as well

wish we could actually discuss the game rather than the definition of animu and why is sucks rararararaaaar

The first 20 seconds: Hm, I dig the art style. The costume design on that one guy is kind of gaudy, but nothing overly offensive.

The rest of the trailer: Uh...wow. Why did it turn into generic Vita JRPG?

I have no problem with fanservice, but it's sexist as hell to apply it only to nearly all of the female characters and pretty much none of the male characters.

Which is fine. But makes people being dissapointed about this perfectly understandable

I personally, for example, wanted elements from the core SMT franchise (which they used to announce the game) and Fire Emblem combined.
I didn't want Jpop idols and moe and a high school setting

To be fair we haven't seen enough of this game to know that those are the only settings. This is most likely the beginning of the game which first trailers tend to focus on. All we know is at one point in time these characters attend school. Thats it. Theres no indication that will continue to happen through out the game. Especially with post apocalyptic Tokyo in the last game screen. I didn't see a daily calender system or really interaction with npcs via persona. Hell in one of the "normal" life screens the protagonist is in a party. This stadium area looks like it may play a part in the game since a lot of combat is only done there. We'll just have to see where it goes.

Those character designs are straight up Awakening Fire Emblem.

I have no idea what people are talking about acting like they aren't.

Straight up though, I don't really think this looks anything like Persona other than the school setting. Crazy motorcycles, pegasus mounts, energy weapons, fantasy armor, floating heads on wheels, giant monsters, etc. Even the running around Shibuya looks like it's more SMT/DDS than Persona, at least the earlier ones anyway.

If anything, this is like SMT + Digimon + FE, lol

Yeah, SMT + Digimon + FE sounds pretty accurate to me. Which is probably why it seems awesome.

um one of the screens is a guy with his shirt opened and his "transformed" outfit even shows off his stomach.

If you want to say that this particular game is generic anime, then go right ahead.

This looks like a Persona prototype. Essentially Persona 6.

I'll take it. But I was psyched for the original concept :/
What even was the original concept? All we knew was that it would have characters from both franchises

I mean I'd love some Demi Fiend action but besides the fanservice what would the game even be?

Most people can infer what it means through context; a minority—including you—seemingly can't. That's all there is to it.

Totally, I mean words just mean whatever we want them mean, right? I'm sorry that I pointed out you were talking nonsense, get right back to it. Hope this reply wasnt too anime for you, cause I think youre totally anime and wouldnt want to anime you.

I admit I missed the quick Yukiko shot, but Rise doesn't count unless we've now expanded the definition of fanservice to include fully-clothed girls showing nothing revealing in completely non-sexual poses.

Okay then, in Persona 3 you can make them wear high-cut armor, bikini armor, maid outfit.
in Persona 4 the first thing after the MC go down from the train is Rise ads, ..........
Want me to continued ?

@SolidSnakex

Going by the designs and the fact the Eliwood looking dude had his chest exposed in the trailer it looks like it should appeal to both sides.

Rewatched it a few times for gameplay related stuff

0:27:We see a superhero wearing a fish? costume over 2 fallen enemies (fmv)
0:34: overview of a generic dungeon
0:35: A shrine, ingame cutscene?
0:48: Japanese temple, Dungeon UI
1:00: Character can do a resengan (fmv)
1:01-1:10: Ingame battles

There's some male fanservice in the trailer... Though I don't think anyone can seriously argue it was anything close to what the girls got.

I'm so glad this isn't a boring SRPG or have a dull, oppressive motif like SMT. Looks tonally similar to the newer Persona games, which pleases me. I hope it's super wacky and fun.

Super excited for this. It'll probably be a 2016 release over here, but that's fine. It's nice to have something to look forward to.

Nothing wrong with the game but I'm sure it goes against the expectations on how the game will be based on the project announcement teaser back in January. I mean that teaser was dark and serious and it seemed like it would feature the cast of SMT and Fire Emblem in some sort of world where they somehow meet each other.

What we got was not what anyone expected but doesn't mean it's a bad game or anything. Just got something extremely different.

I went and watch that announcement trailer posted above and there is nothing in that other than these two series are coming together. Unless I missed another one, seems like people created an image of what the game was supposed to be like from nothing.

um one of the screens is a topless guy and his "transformed" outfit even shows off his stomach.

I saw that, but it didn't even expose very much especially compared to all of the female characters bouncing around with their giant breasts hanging out.

It's especially frustrating because I love generic anime pandering, J-pop, school settings, and sexy anime girls. But as a girl gamer it's really offputting how this game feels like it's treating it's female characters as decorations while the men get to be pretty much dressed up. It makes me feel as if this game is not for me. I feel alienated and left out.

All this game has to do is show me some completely topless men in speedos with big bulges and little bows on their underwear. Then I'll have no issue with this at all.

True but they're idols aka basically singers and they're known to wear all kinds of outfits from odd to skimpy. In this context I could care less about fan service because its not entirely out of place. Could they have left it out though? Of course but its in so whatever.

You know what's really sad? I can see that this uses Awakening's style now.

Fire Emblem has kind of always had a slightly generic look.

I would definitely agree in comparison to everything Meguro does for SMT or the SMT4 composers, but I didn't expect SMT tone.

Yeah but that is what I'm used to coming from Atlus. Etrian Odyssey also has pretty kicking music, hoping this game overall will be no different.

The OG trailer simply was a "hey you like these two series?....well we doing stuff together now...get hyped".

People took that as OMG MARTH VS MARA CONFIRMED...instead of Atlus is teaming up with IS and thus are let down.

sucks for them

I get what people are mad about though... This looks like it has a brighter tone than Persona and Persona is the lightest of the SMT series.
