It scales to your health?

That's the only one I can think of.

It really gets awful when you're doing the later chalice dungeons. Fortunately I had a stockpile of the blood echo items because I never used them, so I've been chomping those to buy vials. I've ran out of them now though. So if the depth 5 level 2 pthu boss is as hard as people say, I'm going to be farming vials again today. Sigh.

My method of late game vial farming is to kill the three or four
frenzy brain
in N
ightmare Mensis
. With some runes for blood echoes they can drop 10,000+ souls each. I use a few vials to kill them but it isn't too bad. They aren't much of a threat other than the frenzy. The elevator ride though can be a bit slow and I sometimes fuck up at the
window
.

A good run for me I'll typically use two vials for 3 kills. Kill the the first, recovery from status. Kill second and third with a tiny bit of health left then use the escape item. I suspect some of the later Chalices have more efficient ways though.

The
three hunters
in the Unseen Village - how do you beat them and do they stay dead after you do?

They stay dead when you kill them.

1st Hunter: Walk slowly to the hunter on the middle of the room, charge your R2 and do a visceral attack on him, after that try to kill him fast before the others arrive, it should work, your visceral attack will do most of the work. Then die. :P

2nd Hunter: Go walking down the stairs at your left, go around to the other stairs and you'll surprise the 2nd hunter on his back, charge R2 again and do the visceral attack, kill him before the other one arrives.

3rd Hunter: If you have in Hypogean Gaol before and opened the door at the left side of the lamp, you could take that route and avoid hunters completely, or go all the way around and entre from the fron of the building and surprise the 3rd hunter. Or just fight against him 1 vs 1.

YES! Managed to finish
Amygdala
in Defiled Chalice! Figured out a great way for the last phase of the fight which usually killed me. Now off to getting last few materials for the final Pthumerian Chalice.

Just defeated M
ergos Wet Nurse
on my 2nd try. I think this was the first boss I really took it easy and approached it the "Souls" way of being very careful.

The boss before that gave me more trouble. Why is it always skeletons :(

Now I'm at the end.
I don't know shit whats going on in this story except everythings gone to hell, Gherman gave me a wrong vibe so I refused. Welp.

EDIT: Holy shit this final boss.

Okay so I beat the first Chalice dungeon but I can't seem to start the second because it says I need more materials. Is that dependent on my progression in the main game or do I need to remove the chalice from the first altar and put it on the second erasing my progress of the first(which im not sure matters)

Yup just beat him last night. Such a cool looking boss.

Yeah he is a great boss

Where would you guys recommend I venture to next? I'm level 45, with both my threaded cane and saw spear at +6.

So far I've taken out:

Cleric Beast
Father G
Blood-Starved Beast
Vicar Amelia
Hemwich Witches
Darkbeast Paarl
Shadow of Yharnam

The next logical path would be
Byrgenwerth
but the enemies seem pretty tough here but do-able, yet I haven't actually ventured inside the building. Should there be any other locations I can run through that'll help level me up and are appropriate at my level?

I just gained access to
the lecture hall by allowing myself to be captured by the lesser Amygdala. I stopped at this lamp but I'm assuming the areas ahead are near-endgame and not recommended at the moment.

Thanks!

Well, I'm on NG+, so farming echoes isn't too much of a problem really. It's just rather tiring.

Sometimes materials can be found around the main game. You can also find them in the chalice dungeons themselves, though.

You shouldn't need to remove any chalices. There's like 6 spots, meaning you can have 6 chalice dungeons open at a time.

Im struggling with my last few bosses of the game, two optional and one story and now I am realising that I hate the blood vials thing.

I can have 4-5 attempts and then I need to go farming for half an hour again to stock up, I can't get into a groove for fighting when I have to break it up with farming all the time. It's a real bad stain on what has been an otherwise fantastic experience, the boss fights themselves are actually fun but with my lack of skills and the vials limit havign to work half an hour of echo farming in is truly depressing.

I barely get time to play this, but the GF went to bed early so I took on
Shadow of Yharnam
. Man, my heart was beating so fast. I love how intense these boss battles are. It was touch and go for a while as I kept making some ridiculous mistakes, but things went pretty smooth once I took out
the fireball dude
.

Also since reaching the latter part of the game, I can't find anyone to co-op with, as beckoner or as a helper, I have tried restarting the game and my PS4 but there seems to be no one out there around level 65.

I got what I thought was a ton of ritual blood items but its not reflected in my inventory. Oh well.

I feel bad for anyone who chose the first option without realizing this.

What's with everyone running low on Blood Vials? I have never had to farm for them as I feel that so many enemies drop them.

I'm always out! I keep failing at
Rom
. And/Or I'll go try to help another hunter beat their boss and the host dies and I've wasted my vials trying to help.

Multiplayer is shit most of the time. Here's hoping for a good patch that will fix the issue.

Cainhurst
and
Upper Cathedral
, been trying to get people to summon me so I can farm some souls and insight.

Hmm, probably not the most populated areas, but knowing how new and popular the game is, that is no excuse. Level 65 should also be ok, so it's weird.

I mean, it's not that complicated. I die more than you. :p

On most of the runs to bosses you aren't going to gain any more blood vials, especially if you're avoiding enemies. Die 5-10 times and you have probably run through most of your stash.

I don't get it either. I usually have so many I can't pick up anymore. 20 on hand, 99 in the Dream.

Maybe that's it? I never avoid enemies that don't respawn.

Arf, I fought an invader in Nightmare Frontier and I lost like an idiot.
I could have killed him, like, 3 times but I made stupid mistakes, I was kinda panicking and I messed up...
I'm bad at PvP. I need more practice.

I just need to kill the final boss to end the game so before it exploted some areas to get stuff also made my first invasion since joined one covenant that is ok with in invasions.

Anyway , felt sad for the other hunter once I killed it , so it seems invasión is not for me. Screwing others game seems not fair and also I have seen some invaders using the map enemies to their benefit so is not a one vs one fight

Aye I was watching folk stream in those areas yesterday with full co op groups but I had no luck, i'll try again once I grind out some vials.

The PvP gets me super salty at times, but victories are so sweet. I think I am still playing it too much like DS2.

Even still, with most of the tougher areas you are only going to gain a couple of vials on a run to a boss. Once you get past Central Yarnham it's easy to use more than you gain on a boss run/fight.

I've had to farm for vials multiple times. It's no big deal, I mostly blame myself and it doesn't take that long. I still prefer the Estus system, though.

So very nearly accidentally murdered the Blood Echoes lady at Hunter's Dream.... would I have been utterly screwed if I had done?

PvP is fun, just wish it would take place more like in other souls games (aka pretty much anywhere randomly).

As you say, once you get more practice, you'll be fine. Feel like folks get too nerved up in PvP, happens to me too, but like any souls combat, the more you do it, the better you get as you learn tendencies and how to counter as you get more experience.

I'd go to Lecture Building - Nightmare Frontier (optional). Then Byrgenwerth. And then Cainhurst Castle (Optional).

I did Lecture Building - Nightmare Frontier - Cainhurst - Byrgenwerth, but the boss in Cainhurst is one of the hardest so I'd advice to go later.

I prefer the Dark Souls 2 system with both flasks and consumables. Would be nice to have a flask like healing system, even if you only got like 5 of them.

If you're at a really tough boss that you know you're going to have problems with keeping stock up on vials, here's one thing you can do to avoid farming: Copy your save data after you have full stock on vials/bullets to the cloud or a usb. If you die too much and run out of vials, just copy your save data back to the PS4 and overwrite it.

on the way to
Rom
there is only one mob.

This game WILL run you out of vials if you have trouble beating a boss.

I really miss Dark souls. I didnt have to grind my ass off to restore estus flasks (for those that didnt play, they were auto refilled). But in this game keep needing vials. Most of the time I really hate this game I cant lie. I just hate the blood vial grind
