Scholar Of The First Sin To Get Patch Addressing Durabillity.

May 7, 2015 Update:Patch is out for PC awaiting PS4/XB1 Release

Hurray! If that’s not plain enough, a Bandai Namco representative spelled it out.

“The fix will be issued for PS4, Steam and Xbox One, and will be apparent for people running the game at 60fps as the durability decrease rate is linked to the frame rate,” said the company. “We are still working on the exact release date for the patch, which will also fix additional issues not just durability, and will follow up with the date as soon as possible.”

Great news for everyone! No time frame other than 'soon'.

Praise the sun if old.

EDIT:From Cheesemeister translate: "Fixed a bug that caused physical defense to drop greatly upon attacking dead enemies."

May mean the durability issue for hitting corpses is decreased- but have no idea what 'modification of the phenomenon that weapon durability' means- any fix is progress

Update for PC users: Fix on the way as well http://info.darksouls.jp/other/pc/information_detail/2015-04-17-01.html

I'll believe it when I see it.
*Approach with caution. Trap ahead.

LOL

Completely agree as there is a level of trust that needs to be re-established for denying anything was ever wrong. It does however speak volumes to me within a few weeks of launch they acknowledge a problem and are talking about patching it. I think it's a safe bet-but again:when.

So if it really was unintended, why was it never addressed in the original PC version? I wonder if the patch will only be for the DX11 version.

Might actually try playing it again once this patch hits. Couldn't handle it the way it currently is, especially coming from Bloodborne where I don't think I ever repaired my weapon even once.

I played Dark Souls 2 for about 4 hours and i never really had any problems with durability. The durability might go down faster compared to other Souls games(?), but i never felt that it really was a problem in Dark Souls 2.

Well that's nice. I'll definitely pick it up once it's fixed. Such an weird issue to leave in after it was a well known issue on PC iirc?

Depends on the weapon and enemy really. I have no problems with my current gear but I started off with an old whip that I could nearly break on a single turtle knight.

Ok I will buy DaS2 PS4 after I hear the reports about how the patch works after it comes out. I decided against buying it after reading the durability complaints.

I mean it was obviously a bug, or rather just bad programming practices, but at this point they should just remove the durability stat since it was already nearly pointless. Fixing it will just make durability a non-issue, so why even have it?

So not only was that never fixed in the original PC release, but it wasn't fixed at SotFS' release?

Geez.

Yep, definitely not intended as was known all along. Not sure why they didn't address it in the original PC version or for this release, but glad it's finally taken care of even though I'm practically done with the game for now having finished NG++ etc.

Looking forward to my next playthrough if I ever get tired of playing GTA V PC. :D

Dammit, im almost done with my first playthrough, dual katanas. Durability isnt a major problem, it just necessitates a backup weapon and a good stock of repair powders. I think it adds a bit of "survival" gameplay, and since ive only played SOTFS, im pretty well accustomed to the additional challenge at this point

So it wasn't intentional from the start and it only gets fixed when it's console players doing the complaining. From's disregard for their PC userbase never ceases to amaze.

I'm on my first play through of the game and just reached Drangleic Castle and to be honest, the durability thing has never bothered me. I even quite like it how it is. I feel any less and it wouldn't really be a mechanic to worry about.

Sure, i've had to swtich to a secondary weapon a small handful of times and use repair powder once as i was not paying attention before entering a boss fight, but overall? its not been a bother.

Dark Souls 2 was a b-team caliber game from the get-go - it's actually wildly unsurprising and speaks volumes of the project handlers' competency level.

Doesn't really make sense when the 'A team' (I pity da fool) have released bloodborne which also had crazy bugs even more damaging to the game than this. I think we can safely say that whilst the whole of From may be great game designers that their games lack that little bit of technical polish, which is fine, they don't have huge budgets for these games.

It depends from the class you use. I did a mage, I only used weapons a bit during early stages of the game, than when I took a decent staff with good spells, I almost totally abandoned them (I only used the thunder sword or whatever is called, using it to finish enemies without wasting spells), but the bug is there.
I see. I mostly used a standard upgraded halberd, i didnt have much problem with that. I remember that one boss weapon
the Fume Knight sword
broke pretty quickly when using the two handed attacks, but i assumed that it was intentional (maybe it is on that particular weapon).

All the durability defenders, where are you?

precisely- as it was never a problem for me-it was clearly a bug-hitting bodies degrades weapon faster than a wall.....really?

edit: Dont know if its durabillity as a whole-or just addressing the fact it degrades twice as fast when you hit enemy corpses-

They managed to get this bug in for the remaster? Wow. Well hopefully they get it fixed asap since weapons breaks fast even without the bug.
