Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

Space battles seem like something that would be *too much* to fit in given the relatively short development time and having to create all new assets. I am ok with them getting the ground experience right for this first game and then branching out going forward.

Didn't a Battlefront map take place in space? Sorry, it's been a while. Like I thought you could actually go to the docking bay and fly out of it if you wanted to go dogfighting, or just keep grounded in the ship for gun on gun action? I hope they have something like that; would be cool.

You can call in Y-Wings for an airstrike

During the demo, an AT-AT attacked the Rebel soldiers. The player the camera was following tried to kill it with a rocket launcher, but that didn’t work (a teammate yelled “That walker armor is too thick!”). So the guy ran up to a computer terminal and held down the square button on the PS4 controller. Moments later, a squadron of Y-Wing fighters flew by, dropping bombs on the AT-AT. Its legs buckled as it hit the ground, and several brightly colored explosions signaled its demise.

It's worth pointing out though that aerial combat will be limited to in-atmosphere dog fights, with space for off limits right now. Bach explains why: "The core of Star Wars battles — the Endors, the Hoths, et cetera — you want to take that to perfection. You want to do it right. Space is hard, right? Not from a [development] perspective, but from a logistical perspective. Is that fun? For us it doesn’t make sense to create a battle above you if you’re fighting other players who are not there to fight. Our focus is to do planetary battles. "

Patrick Bach with his usual crap. Sigh.

Free DLC... from EA?

They did give free DLCs with Mass Effect 3 multiplayer modes. Tons of new guns, maps, and characters. Not something new. But you could buy stuff with real money or ingame credits, so... expect the same with Battlefront maybe?

Hopefully, the sky combat actually serves a meaningful purpose, unlike the team distraction they are in BF4.

I'm talking about jets here, not helis.

I completely agree. Better no space battles than a completely broken mess of a game.

There is always room for a sequel.

In Battlefront 1 you can fly around maps but you couldn't go into space. Battlefront 2 introduced space battles.

I don't care what the excuse is.

A PS2 game had space battles. We're two generations further. You'd expect... even better space battles!

So the gameplay reported by AP and GI...that is what we won't officially see today, correct? That was the behind closed door viewing?

BF 2 allowed you to fight in space above every planet that had a map.

I wouldnt call it an actual gameplay demo. Seems more like an in engine cinematic. And Id still be suprised if PS4 could fully pull it all off at that IQ during real gameplay.

Everyone at the Celebration is getting an actual look at the gameplay though. The non attendees are getting the engine cinematic.

I wonder if they'll do some additional battles or locations from the period of time between the end of Jedi and the start of Awakens. We do have Jakku in there, but I'd love to see some additional canon battles added in to help bridge the gap between the films like we did get in BF2.

So the game indeed looks this good on Consoles.

But im a bit sad that as a Xbox player i have to wait now for some xbox footage until a beta etc drops :/

At this point we kinda know what the difference will be, just look at BF4 and Hardline and the differences between PS4/XB1 and it'll be a safe bet the difference will be about the same.

No space battles is very, very disappointing, It's great that they kept 3rd person and Heroes, but without both eras and without Space Battles I'm not really expecting this to be an 'improvement' in terms of features. Other than the graphics it seems like a step backwards in some ways.
