People are probably saying Superman is a bad guy because 1 - Snyder's boner for Batman and 2 - the shots where people are bowing to him and all that. Of course there's another shot where it looks like Superman does not like people bowing to him and treating him as a god so I imagine he's only tolerating it because he can't really make them stop without force.

He looks fine to me.

We don't know that they're in Metropolis in the soldier shot; it could be somewhere significantly more... lawless.

Or maybe it's a "what if." I'm still hoping it's him dismantling some militarized cult; the next bit would be him trying to get the soldiers to stand.
