Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

i wouldn't consider that cheesing at all. I'm not sure it is possible to fight all three hunters at once and be successful (I'm sure someone has done it). It would be impossible for me though

weird thing happened to me at that area of the game though. when I first got to that area, there were 3 hunters... I died relatively quickly. Then, I went with the lure them 1 at a time strategy, starting with the hunter that just stands in the middle. I killed him, then went for the one who stands in the back left corner (can't remember which weapon he carried). after I killed him, the third hunter was no where to be found... not sure if I somehow glitched the game or what, but he never showed up again.

yeah I cant imagine doing it any other way but by divide and conquer.

If that was a gaffer that joined my game thanks. Boss is just so tough with half your life, fuck.

Gonna ring again if anyone would be kind enough to join.

That is such a perfect description for them, aha.

I initially chose not to attack them but you might end up regretting that decision thanks to another enemy.

Oh man, that shit got me so good.

I was like why aren't they attacking?
Turns out those little shits wait for their master with the cleaver and chain to move in and then they start fucking with you.

Fucking brilliant.

Beat L
ogarius
at level 40. I should have invested in more Vit. So many of his attacks just sends me straight back to the lamp. It was an intense but great fight though. Boring to watch since I was doing very little damage (+2 cane lol).

Level 40 with a plus 2 cane? He'll that must have been a challenge. I think I was close to 70 when I got to him with a +8 cane.

Also, cane is the best fucking weapon. Always glad to see another cane user.

I was using a Ludwig for a while because everyone says it is awesome, but you can play a way safer game than trying to use a Ludwig 2 handed. A lot of the bosses also have heads that are weaknesses, and the threaded cane gives you a huge advantage.

Also, the whip just looks awesome with fire paper.

Whip looks awesome always. Love it for style alone. I had a +2 axe as well but I felt the a strong desire to keep the whip out for this one since they did roughly the same damage at my level.

The boss was really rough. I spent a lot of time on it because of how easy he could kill me but patience and plenty of blood bullets got me there in the end. :D

I really enjoy Ludwig's. It was a bit too slow for this fight though and I hadn't unlocked Ludwig yet. Its more about doing a few huge hits or just one shotting tough enemies than anything else, at least my experience with Ludwig anyway. For boss heads... I used the axe on my first character. R2->R1 does two overheads in 2h mode and it has serve me very well for bosses and general enemies alike. You can follow up with a jumping attack or L1 to try and hit the head again if you have a large opening. Give it test!

Does the Stake Driver's huge charge attack always drain all of your stamina? Its be awesome to backstab after it.

Not quite all of it but it takes a pretty huge chunk. If you connect it knocks enemies on their ass though, I've never been able to get a backstab off it. Usually it just sends them flying.

Wow,
Logarius's wheel
is absolutely hilarious. I can't believe something that outlandish is in the game!

I did a few hours of PVP in the NF the other night, man these people don't know how to play or are still playing this like Dark Souls.

I'm like level 168 and out of the 10 or so fights I was in I steamrolled all but two, in which it was a very close match.

That last fight I must've scared this guy so badly because I was kicking his ass and he literally turned around ran off a cliff intentionally. I kept dodging in several different patterns, all the while slowly walking towards him, at first I just toyed with him as a test to see if he had a good grasp of the game mechanics and then I turned it up to eleven right as he decided to run. I was gesturing too, at the beginning of the fight I locked on and pointed at him, in the middle when he decided to just try and spam items I started doing the dust off emote before I wrecked him and he ran off.

Half the fights I am in they play distance and try to circle strafe and lame it out, which doesn't work in Bloodborne, you have to press the attack and use that dodge and counter mechanic.

Ideally you should play this like a character action game, since the game empowers you with the moveset and speed to do so.

Reiterspallach v2 is amazing for boss fights. Unbelievably quick, you get a lot of shots in there and if need be, you can rely on a quick counter with r2. Get in there, poke poke poke, get out.

finally, DBP and
watchdog
in my chalice dungeon down, using just the cane and almost basically the starting armor (not sure yet how much this is actually holding me back). I found them both quite tough though. at level 38.

Is that CD just like, over now? How do I go on to the next?

If you've defeated a boss and there is no elevator past the boss room, then you're done with that dungeon. You can make another dungeon, if you have the chalice and materials for it.

Super frustrating to play nearly perfectly for 5 minutes then get one hit ko'ed, over and over again half way into the
Amygdala
Defiled Chalice fight. I have 70 VIT +10% +5% and even then it's easy to go from full health to none almost instantly.

This boss either hits too hard too often or has too much health, and feels too random, for my taste. The previous layer boss was hard as fuck but totally fair. This doesn't feel that way.

Is Blade of Mercy the only weapon that truecombos for PVP?
Been thinking of a secondary wep, and was only thinking between BoM/Reitersplechssshhh/iunno with the Chikage.

So is there any effective, consistent way to avoid R
om's ice-hail attack?

Is it better to roll away, dodge while locked on, or just run like hell?

Should I look up and try to see where the projectiles are coming from, or keep the camera down to focus on the fight?

This is the biggest problem I'm encountering with this boss.

Have the camera so that you can see when he starts the attack, and then roll toward him. Going toward him is safer than away with that attack.

Some other people have suggested running in circles since the attack tries to target in front of you, but I've not tried the tactic so I can't verify how good it is.

Try using Great Lake, Lake, +HP runes along with blunt focused armor. I had under 50 VIT when I killed it. The lit up slams would almost one shot me.

Which one of her moves do you have problems with?

I cannot reliably play for 10 minutes straight without making a single mistake, so there's that.

The four arm sweep seems very hard to reliably dodge. The camera fucks me over a lot when I'm near/under. If I'm out front its an utter disaster as I can't yet reliably time a dodge to avoid all of the swings in a row.

I can consistently stick to the side attacking the arm by the leg, baiting the leg stomp. I can avoid damage from the leap attack 4/5 times. But that 1/5 times is usually a OHKO.

All of the attacks do more than one blood vial's worth of damage, making it very hard to stay at full health to not get OHKO'ed.

I am going to bed for now but this may be the first boss I summon help for, if I can find anyone near my level to do it. (155)

I never get hit by the arcane stuff, so I'll def try blunt focused armor, thanks. Worst case I find a chalice online that has a great physical damage reduction rune in it.

Ha. Shit. A gimmick boss. I really prefer a "fair fight." It's interesting to discover what feels fair to me vs not. I love Ebrietas and Watchdog and I hate Loran Darkbeast and this one.... but I don't hate the non-Defiled versions. I wonder what lessons I can draw from that. #1 is clearly that OHKO's are not ok in fights that are longer than 5 minutes unless they are very clearly telegraphed and reliably dodgable; the Watchdog lunge is really clear even if it killed me A TON.

Oddly enough I found her the easiest of the defiled chalice dungeon bosses. I had no where near your health either, I think I had 45 VIT and no health bonus runes. The only thing that was annoying me was the camera.

Until she rips off her arm I was constantly trying to stay near her right foot and bait out the stomp attack. It's really easy to dodge and allows you to go for her arms really easily. If I got out of position for baiting that, I'd just stay back until I found an opening. Once she rips off her arms it becomes much easier and you can mostly stay under her and you won't get hit. She does a jump attack, but she actually jumps away from you and you can easily just roll back under her.

I just ran up where his glowing arm is and I baited him by getting close to his foot which he'll stomp, walk away and swing at his arms. Rinse and repeat :)

The leap attack is easy to avoid. Sounds crazy, but just don't move. It won't hit you. Took me awhile to figure it out. Was trying dodging and rolling all directions. My strategy is to stay in front and only attack when his head is down after he does his attack routines. She starts her fist stomp with her right hand. Thus, it's best to 2x dodge right. Once her head drops, I run in for 1 hit and repeat.

How the fuck do you do co-op in the chalice dungeons?

And can anyone -properly- explain to me how this password shit works? So, I go to the network menu, set up a password, or something...I don't fucking know dude.

I only solo the chalices, but from what I read, both people need to be in the same chalices, layer and use the same password.

And, not too bad. I manage to farm 10 chucks within 30 min in the Upper Cathedral with 223 Discovery.

Finally beat the game, what a ride. Damn it,
if I had known I'd get the best weapon in the game right at the very end, I wouldn't have spent so many resources on upgrading the other weapons.

Network Passwords (in options menu) means you can only Co-op (specifically, doesn't include Invasions) with people of the same Network Code, period.

When talking about Chalice Dungeons, every Chalice Dungeon made, even the stock ones that are the same, have an entirely different Glyph Code (Dungeon code). If you want to coop you have to set your Dungeon to Open, and both of you have to play / summon within the same layer of the same Glyph code dungeon.

To shortcut this, if you have the Short Root Chalice, it allows you to use the first Chalice Altar to quicksearch Co-op, so you don't have to be in the same layer to aid someone, you just Drop-in available dungeons. Quick-Searching also works with Network Codes, so that you ONLY search open Host Ringing dungeons with that Network Code and drop in.

Just beat the
witch of hemlock
... Maybe I had the memory leak thing but that seemed ridiculously easy... I only used maybe a couple potions the whole battle... Anyways is that a dead end after you beat that boss?

For some reason after the 4th boss
Amelia the Witch
I hit kind of a wall. Bought
Ludwig's Holy Blade
and it got me over the hump.

Just beat the 5th boss
The Witch of Hemwick
and now really back into the groove. The boss was actually pretty underwhelming and simple. Only bosses I haven't beaten first try now have been
Father Cas and Darkbeast Paarl

Those wiffs with the running R1 made me wince. Its so much easier to hit using Ludwig's L2 when its transformed. Gives vertical attacks similar the the Kirkhammer's transformed R1, but faster(-ish maybe?)

haha yeah I was just rewatching it and thought the exact same. I hit air so many times then.

I gotta say, Vita remote play controls for Bloodborne are done right. Pretty much everything seems natural and I even went exploring in the Upper Cathedral Ward with no issues. Just need a comfy grip now.

It's very complicated, but I've gotten it to work. I don't know if every single step of this is necessary, but the end result was working co-op with a friend of choice. I guess it could work with two, but I've only done one.

1) Create a chalice, share the glyph with your friend. They have to "Search by glyph code" from their tombstone and enter your glyph. This is only possible to do if they've made a chalice dungeon of that type before. If not, it'll give an error message and won't let you create it.

So, if you have created the particular Chalice type before but they haven't, have them make the chalice and give you the glyph. This will save one of you from wasting materials creating it twice.

You have to have the same dungeon saved locally, with the same glyph.

2) Create a matching unique password in the Network menu, set yourself to "Worldwide" instead of Local. I used lowercase and threw in some numbers for the password, as everything generated by the game seems to be. May as well to be safe? Haha.

3) From the tombstone, in the layer selection menu, press Square and set your dungeons to Open. I have no idea if this is necessary, but hey, it worked.

4) Have you and the friend go into each of your own dungeons, and stand in the same spot. It can't be by the very first lamp, because for some reason it won't let you ring the bell(s) there. Go to the second lamp directly down the hallway, for instance.

5) Have whoever wants to join the other ring the Small Resonant Bell FIRST, for about 10 seconds.

6) Then, have the person who wants the friend to join ring the Beckoning Bell. They should join within a minute.

Make sure neither player has resumed from Rest Mode on PS4, as apparently this breaks things. Start fresh. You also have to be within 10% of your level + 10 levels of eachother to co-op. Use this calculator: http://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator

Maybe it's possible to have one person create the Chalice and have the other use the
Short Root Chalice
to search for it without creating their own dungeon locally? I've not experimented with it, but it would make all of this a hell of a lot easier on materials and insight. Need to do some experimenting with it, I guess.

Oh wow, this is exactly what I was talking about. I guess that makes things a tad easier...lol.

haha yeah I was just rewatching it and thought the exact same. I hit air so many times then.

It was a good fight though. Better than what I will likely accomplish when I try to do it with my Stake Driver. I love that weapon, but the lack of verticals will be the end of me one day, if not a mistimed dashing R1.

Hey, folks. I've been trying to get M
artyr
L
ogarius
down today and haven't had any luck at all. =/ Haven't quite gotten a handle on him once he loses so much health and gets really fast.

I was wondering if anyone was available to answer my bell and lend a hand? I'm level 77, password is the Gaf password in the first post of this thread. I'll be making my way to his fog gate here in a moment and ringing my bell in case anyones available. My PSN name is the same as my username on here.

That was an optional area. But you probably didn't get the memory leak, she is just a really easy boss. Check to see what's behind that door.
