Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

OK I wanna make a bit of an unusual request.

I just got to the N
ightmare of
M
ensis
and while I like figuring out ambiguous details as much as the next guy, I'm finding myself completely confused as to what has been happening story-wise.

Can anyone help me out with the following lore questions? Please PLEASE keep in mind my place in the game and avoid spoilers that happen afterwards. Just say "you're not supposed to know that yet" or something.

Why do the half-beast villagers exclaim "It's all your fault!"?
What happened in that cutscene after killing Vicar Amelia?
Who or what is Pale Blood?
It sounds to me like "the night of the hunt" is something that used to happen every once in a while, but this time it's much worse for some reason?
Why is an Old Workshop so important that it became the Hunter's Dream?
Who was that guy in the wheelchair just before fighting Rom?
What the hell was that "fall into a lake" stuff to fight Rom? Where is that physically?
What is this "newborn baby" business?
What were they doing during that ritual in the unseen village the first time you go there?
The second time you go there after killing Rom, what the hell is going on? Why are there giant man spiders everywhere and why does if look like everyone was burned to the walls?
I entered a "nightmare" in Mensis? I thought I was already dreaming? Am I Inceptioning and "going deeper"? Are the events in the Nightmare actually real?
Am I understanding it right that essentially this whole thing is brought about by this society obsessing over injecting themselves with "miracle" foreign bloods and causing people to go mad and mutate? Kinda like a Victorian Era Bioshock?
And that it all originated in Byrgenwerth by a bunch of scholars who didn't heed Jeff Goldblum's advice of not doing it just because they could?
What did I inject myself with at the start of the game and why?

Yeah, there's one involving the Dogs in the cages in the Forbidden Woods. Look it up on youtube to see exactly how it works.

Isn't that just for blood echoes though?

Are there any other exploits? I really don't want to have to farm blood stones

I don't think there is but you should get over abudance of anything else than chunks and rocks just going through the game. Chunks seem to be decently farmable in the late game.

It sucks to think this, but I'm starting to think that this game is just too hard for me.

Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of last gen, and I always thought the claims about its difficulty were wildly exaggerated. As long as you stayed calm and waited for openings everything was doable.

Bloodborne actually is just really fucking hard. I finally beat R
om
, and the area after him is just brutal. There's so many areas I just run through because I don't want to deal with the enemies anymore. So many just feel like overkill. What do those
weird hulking mass-of-corpses things that drag a box around behind them
need to have a one-hit kill move? Why do I need to deal several of them while being shot at by enemies that take around a fifth of my health per hit?

I had a ton of trouble with Rom and the next boss fight seems annoying too. I'm on the O
ne Reborn
and the fight is just ridiculous.
Don't get too close or you'll get hit. Don't use a weapon with a long animation or you'll get hit. Don't stop moving for a split second or you'll get hit. Is there any way to stop the things shooting projectiles from up above? At least with Rom you can kill the tiny spiders if you want.

Dark Souls felt like it was designed to challenge people, but the most important things to succeed were to keep your cool and play conservatively. Bloodborne often just feels like I'm getting fucked with.

Edit: I just looked it up since I'm falling out of love with the game and kind of just want to finish it now, and it turns out you can
kill the casters
, so I feel kind of stupid now. Could of sworn I checked to see if there was a way to do that.

Still pretty frustrated with the game right now, I was loving it up to R
om
, I wish it would go back to something closer to that difficulty level.

M.L. vanquished. Fuck my panicky ass not exploring all the options this game offers. Found out that I could
destroy his sword missile spammer
. Figured out his parrying times after that, then proceeded to layeth the smacketh down. The Coup de grace? YOLOTOV while the old bastard was
trying to lay down another sword
.

Give me my crown, ho.

ahh, apologies you guys were talking about the old glitch and I read it as echoes.

Yeah, werewolves will do the trick there. If you have any Eye discovery runes then equip those.

In the
The One Reborn
you can get to the ledges from sides of the stages and kill the maidens that buff the boss and spam projectiles. Makes the fight so much easier.

BB design is the same as DS but it is just faster. Atleast this is how I feel about the game.

He isn't that hard once you get parrying down. Now equip the ugly ass crown.

The problem for me is that I played a really high-stamina shield user in DS, so I'm used to being able to tank and kind of scope things out and wait for openings. That's not an option in BB.

Well that surely makes it harder to adapt since it gives you breathing room that BB doesn't give you at all.

haha nah you were correct. The poster was asking about the old duplication glitch, which is removed then asking about farming blood shards. The best way to farm for Blood chucks, that I know about, is putting the eyes runes on and killing the werewolves in upper cathedral ward.

What were they doing during that ritual in the unseen village the first time you go there?

They were trying to commune with the great one Mergo. There's a theory that Rom was actually stopping them from achieving this.

The second time you go there after killing Rom, what the hell is going on? Why are there giant man spiders everywhere and why does if look like everyone was burned to the walls?

The Amygdalas were always there, Rom was just hiding them from your sight. As for the people of the Unseen Village being turned into stone or fused into giant corpse blobs, it turns out that communing with Mergo was a very bad idea. Why it was a bad idea is a spoiler.

WooHoo! Now I've finally got that pistol everybody raves about. I guess I'll need this
armor set
to acquire
blood dregs
? Most expensive shit I've seen in the game so far. Will work on it tomorrow. Going to bed now.

No you just need the covenant rune for that. Armor set is just for fashion.

Hmm starting to think I've leveled a bit too far in NG+ at ~140, I'd like to clear all the NG+/Chalices and still be at a level that can find pvp matches but I dunno if that's gonna be possible with my low skill and bad build (Very unfocused as I wanted to try loads of weapons/items).

(late game optional content spoilers)
Just cleared Upper Cathedral Ward which I totally missed on my first play through and damn that boss was hard, but not nearly as hard as the hunter in the grand cathedral at the end of Eileens quest! Destroyed me 3 times until I figured out the perfect parry timing and just lamed it out with dodge + single slash counters for the second half). Now the only optional story stuff left is big brain and Nightmare Frontier, wish I hadn't missed the +10 item in my original game T_T

Okay, last question for the night. Since I joined the
Vilebloods
, I can assume that
Alfred
is super aggro at this point, yes? So unless he has something I need, I'm probably gonna give him a wide berth.

iirc he wont aggro you if you dont equip the corruption rune

so you could still give him the invitation

No he doesn't mind. You can complete his quest even if you are in the
Vileblood
covenant. I would recommend to finish his questline.

He won't be aggro I won't say more

Is there any sort of map available, especially for Yarnham? I'm some way into the game B
yrgenwerth
, but I still find the starting city to be a twisty labyrinth. I want to revisit the music box girl, but I've literally lost the way to her.

Also, despite opening up the route I still can't find the
doll outfit
. It's not useful, but I need it for selfies. Any tips on where to look?

Here. Not super great map but there doesn't seem to be much else avaible.

It should be in
Abandoned Workshop
.

i think if you opened up the shortcut gate after talking to music box girl, that gate is in the big fountain area with the big guy pounding on the door, right before the stairs up to the area where there's a couple dogs that leads up to the bridge

I don't normally do this, but I'm desperate to get this platinum.

I need a coop partner for b
loodletting beast (headless)
in depth 5 Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice.

I'm at my wits end with this one. Defiled was nothing compared to this guy.

You can add me to a psn party if needed: PuppyPumper

Hey guys, I'm trying hard to play with a friend but with no success. We waited like 20 minutes yesterday until he was summoned by a different person (I was hosting and he was using the small bell). We can play online just fine, just... not together.
We're in the same level range for coop, I'm NG+ and he's NG but I read that's not a problem. We set the same password in options. We both have NAT2.
I just can't manage to summon him. What's the deal? Any suggestions? What's the best way to ensure a summoning?

Is the Cannon worth upgrading in NG+, or does it lose its effectiveness on bosses? Shit is too stronk from the videos I've seen lol.

Everything loses effectiveness on NG+ but I would highly recommend it. You can wreck anything with it.

I guess you are not going to level up anytime soon. Would help but you are about 10levels too low for me.

Matchmaking with specific people seems to be somewhat hard. Try to be in the same general area. Also I remember reading that it would help if the host rings the bell after other person rings small resonant bell.

Beat the game and
woke up in NG+. Now I have 230k echoes. How can I spend it to level up? Do I need to beat the 1st boss or something?

I just bought DkS2:SotFS and I can't believe how slow everything feels now. It has better framerate than Bloodborne but by god I want to be dashing like mad speed.

Still, I'm gonna put bloodborne on hold until the patch then I'll try to focus on platinuming it.

in chalice dungeons, can someone explain the
creature that sometimes appears -- usually after clearing a level, seemingly eating a body. it seems really easy to kill and never drops anything ... what is it?

I tried DS2 on PS3 just to see how it feels after BB and had same reaction as you. Feels way too slow and boring.

Allright, thanks, we'll probably try again today doing this (yesterday he rang the small bell after I rang the big one, thought it made more sense but apparently it's the other way around :P).

I'm having fun playing co-op with randoms on my latest character. Somehow this guy was in my level range and I summoned him to kill the Cleric beast. I don't know how he was so strong this early, but with the Stake Driver and fire paper he killed the Cleric beast literally in one stamina bar :lol It was amazing.

I beat Amelia.

Where should I go next?

Are you in our message group on PSN with all the other Foot clan bros?

Yep! You guys are so far ahead though

Forbidden Woods
is the next area for story to progress.

Well CB isn't mandatory in order to progress so you can go to
Old Yharnam
before tackling him if you want.

Do the Chalice dungeons work with the same NG/NG+ etc scaling? I.e. do I need to clear them all before the end of my first playthrough, or are they a totally separate system?

They are completely separate. Depth is what governs the general tier of the mobs in Chalice. NG/NG+ has no effect there.

Eh, beaten by a mile.
