Know little about MLP other than how mad it seems to make people and I almost feel the same. Weapons of mass trolling, that's what these avatars are. I imagine the pink one would cause the most distress.

Apart from trolling (which I think we are far past) and mental disabilities, I'll never understand loving this show to the degree that you wave your flags about it and want everyone in the world to know. I mean, I'm a fan of tons of random stuff, but to latch onto this one thing out of literally everything else you might like and molding your entire identity around it is mind-boggling.

I like Sponge-Bob. I don't necessarily go to conventions about it or buy toys for it. Or dwell on the show, either.

Equestria Girls is a series of 2 movies (moving onto 3), where Twilight Sparkle goes through a magic mirror and into a human world (referred to among the fans as "Dougworld" because of the variety of skin colors). From there, it turns into a high school teen drama while bringing in supernatural evil.

In the field of animation, there are the Equestria Girls movies and online shorts, which involve an alternate dimension where all of the ponies are humans attending high school--literally a high school AU fanfic world. Since these humans have the same skin tone as the pony fur colors, this world is referred to by fans as Dougworld. Similar to Friendship is Magic itself, this is handled much better than one would expect, though fans are still divided. I myself find the movies OK but dislike some prominent aspects, while some others are actually looking forward to the next movie more than season 5. The first film is generally considered OK, while the second film, Rainbow Rocks, is considered to be legitimately great by many. The third film, Friendship Games, will be released this Fall, meaning that we'll probably get previews and tie-in shorts during the airing of season 5.

They are expensive, but I don't see why they can't exist. Sony has to cater to as many demographics as possible, and they probably have research that supports a percentage of their user base likes MLP and may be interested in MLP avatars.
