Wow that looks nice! NOt sure about that air bubble on the bottom of the stick though... I found out I have to go out of town on May 1st. Hopefully the stick will get here a day or two early.

Man it feels like it's been forever since I preordered the TE2 and the VLX. Almost 3 months since for the TE2 and about 2 since the VLX but they're both finally coming in the next 2 weeks. As for the VLX, I bought a folding table specifically just for that thing. Can't wait to put them both to use.

What are the dimensions of the table? I'm going to be looking to get a folding table I can plop right in front of the TV with. Having that thing on my lap all the time will probably bet a little tiring being at home.

Just bought 4 GC controllers and that Wii U Adapter. That's will take care of my Smash "fightstick".

Now I just need to figure out which buttons to upgrade my PS4 VLXs with and I'm all done with controller upgrades.

I suppose having those hospital arm tables would work out nice for arcade sticks while in a recliner.

Also, I decided against spending money on the offical PS4 VLX carry bags. I think the VLX is too big to be a travel stick.

Im in the same boat as you but I think I'm leaning towards the gamerfingers from reviews and people's opinions.

I'm going to get a bag for my VLX eventually but not for transportation but more for protection when not in use.

Sorry, but I don't know. I just got something kind of cheap at Walmart. Never bothered to check the dimensions. I brought it home and folded it into a table and it was close enough to the right height for me to play on when sitting on my chair. For me this is kind of necessary. The VLX is my favorite stick when I play it on a table, but it's also my least favorite when I play it on my lap for obvious reasons.

So I'm a casual fighting game fan, own KI and will be buying MKX.

I'm not very good with inputs on the d-pad. Is an arcade stick generally more accurate?

I usually have trouble with simple quarter circles on the d-pad. Never get it consistently.

Looking at the Hori Arcade One.

Cheers!

Customs took my Gamerfinger buttons I think. They appear stuck there. Probably because I asked for them to be down valued. Will take a while to get them now.

Hori Arcade One? Going from pad to stick can be a difficult process for a while until you get the hang of it. If you are having trouble on a dpad doing quarter circles now I believe youll have an even harder time learning stick. If you see yourself playing more and more fighting games a stick is a good investment in the long term. I'd see if you know anyone that has one and try it out for a bit before making a purchase as good sticks are usually $125+

Also the X1 is probably going to be pretty starved for fighters besides KI,MKX, and Tekken7 so I am not sure if investing in a stick is a good idea until more games are announced or if you really think you'd use it consistently.

Arcade sticks are accurate...but that's not the issue. Different people have different preferences.

My recommendation is that you stop by an arcade (if possible) or borrow a stick from a friend to give it a try before you take the plunge on a good stick. If neither of those is possible you can try to get a less expensive or used stick, just to see if you like it.

Ordered the RAP4 VLX from arcadeshock. So I am guessing it is a long wait before they ship it out since it is back order??

Did you order the HRAP4 or the VLX? The VLX has been sold out on pre-orders for a few weeks so I assume you the HRAP4? Ship times depends on when they get another shipment in which shouldn't be too long from now I'd assume as they stick is selling pretty well. They usually ship within 2 days of getting new stock in.

VLX I think. it let me pre-oder, but I read on the bottom that the only chance to get it now is to go to NCR and EVO...uh probably a long wait then since I can't attend

Honestly, for MKX in particular, I find a controller to be slightly easier to use than a stick (and I'm pretty casual myself). You mentioned quarter circle motions giving you issues though, but MK doesn't actually require any QC motions unless you enable it yourself in the control options. If you insist on using QC motions though and you really can't do it on a pad, then yes, I think a stick would actually give you a bit more precision with fluid motions like that.

My issue on stick has always been dashes. I can do everything else on the stick but my dashing is horrible. I know everyone says practice but I wonder if there is a technique that will make it a bit easier. That's the only thing keeping me using my Sega Saturn USB pads

How do you hold it? Do you trouble with dashes facing left or right?

Opinions on the HRAP4 Kai? Been a long time since I played with a stick but have been getting into USF4 lately and with it coming to PS4 soon I thought I might get one. Its the only one available in Sweden and while moderately expensive looks nice.

So jealous of the people getting the vlx. Looks so nice.

I think it's a really good stick. I wasn't a huge fan of the buttons so I swapped them with gamerfingers and the stick was giving some input errors, so I added a heavier spring. The side buttons are kinda annoying but it's just a minor inconvenience.

Alright!
Is it easy to mod it with different buttons/stick?

Not too hard. The only bad part is that you have to void the warranty, unlike the TEs.

You could swap out to a sanwa stick without issues, but other sticks will be harder. Buttons are a non issue.

Good luck with your stick search!

Thanks a bunch! I think I'll just ho ahead and order one!

To be fair, you might like the stick and/or buttons. I'm too picky about both, but was already a fanboy of the Hayabusa. The kuros are definitely better than Hori's older cheapos, but they're too much like Sanwas without being Sanwas for me to not swap in Seimitsus.

Seimitsu screw-ins, btw, are kind of iffy for the L1 button. The housing is just a tad too close for the Seimitsu screw rings to fit on properly and I had to do a bit f careful carving. And yet I might still plug L1 and L2 like on my V3 Kai because I'm still not digging the 8 button thing.

As for 2:54 AM, I now have my shipping status and order confirmation from Arcadeshock with tracking number for the:

1x HORI RAP4 Premium VLX KURO Controller PS4/PS3 with Touchpad - Ship Double Boxed

Hype.

Yay, progress. Not sure what that really means, I guess they have to make shipping labels for each individual shipment, so it could probably be a couple more days til they actually get to it?

I'd be happy if I can get it next week. Getting one to Europe before the weekend might be slow.

Edit: I was on the edge of cancelling the pre-order in favor of Nippon-Yasan but seeing as how limited their stock seemed to be, I'm glad I've stuck to this one. It wouldn't have worked out.

I'll keep an eye on it next week. See if the tracking number gets any updates. Right now it's just a number.

Getting so close!

Haven't received my notification yet, but I do have a set of 24mm Gamerfingers on the way to go along with the rest...

Why make an open hinge then????

There's a hinge on the VLX. For the HRAP4/Kai, you have to remove 6 screws from the bottom, including one under a warranty sticker. That said, I don't think anyone should seriously worry about voiding their warranty, after all, there's very little to these sticks beyond a lever and some buttons.
