Guillermo del Toro confirms he will not be collaborating with Kojima on Silent Hills

Hey, Konami.

I'm probably just dreaming at this point, but is it possible someone could take advantage of this situation and buy the IP away from Konami? Everyone knows there's demand for it.
I guess that's a thing. Doesn't Sony actually have OG Silent Hill devs working with them internally already?

It just doesn't make any sense,P.T revived Silent Hill and now they're backpedaling!
At least keep Del Toro and let the ex KojiPro team work on it.
Are the higher ups at Konami f***ing brain dead?

Pardon my ignorance, Ive been under a rock recently. Why the hell has this been cancelled? Seems like everyone but me knew it was coming :(

What's sad is that this is the first confirmation of it. Even internally. The employees working on the game knew just as much as us. Konami kept them in the dark during all of this.

On one hand, I know that I'm totally going to buy MGSV, especially for support of this shitty situation KojiPro is in right now.

On the other hand, in terms of straight boycotting/sending a message, I don't think there's going to be much after MGSV to begin with. LOS2 fucked Castlevania, Silent Hill is essentially FUBAR (I know there are MGS conspiracy theorists out-there wanting to apply the same to this, but "I don't think the game is coming" is not, not, NOT good marketing in any sense of the word), and their other IPs? Fuck that.

A falling out between Kojima and Konami following, or amidst, corporate restructuring. Kojima Productions essentially no longer exists and Kojima will be departing Konami from his current status as a contractor iirc after his work is finalized for MGSV.

So is the game not happening completely? Or is it still happening just without Delt Toro and Kojima?

From what I can gather, the consensus is if it's happening without Del Toro and Kojima it might as well not be happening at all.

I'm an outsider to the series including everything post original dev team so I can't comment myself. Kojima & co do seem to have that magic touch that made the game so hype worthy to begin with, though.

Resident Evil 7 will be pure survival horror again like the original Resident Evils, so the survival horror genre will still be awesome guys.

Guys guys guys this is a good thing

Now del Toro and Kojima can make a game together instead of del Toro having to make it without Kojima

If contracts and such don't get in the way I would bet that a Kojima/del Toro horror game Kickstarter will be a thing (not silent hills obviously but still)

This is such bullshit. P.T. was one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. The mystery, intrigue, and global cooperation was unlike anything else.

Wow. This is extremely disappointing :( Was very much looking forward to it, especially how much P.T scared the living shit out me.

Ah, I see. Well that's damn unfortunate. I was looking forward to it mostly because this was a Kojima game other than MGS.

And then what? Do you want him to make a 2D platformer on Unity in his spare time?
You say that like only him has been fired and not his team as well.
you also say it like kojima would never be abke to set up shop again and get big publishers to back him.
in fact you sound slightly bit mad.

I really don't understand Konami. They succeded to put Silent Hill in a relevant place again thats to P.T. The reaction from that demo was amazing.

And now, they kill it. Because reasons.

Hey man, you didn't say anything about funding it afterwards. :)
Sure, let's buy Silent Hills and fund the development of the game. It would be kinda crazy but really interesting.
