Guillermo del Toro confirms he will not be collaborating with Kojima on Silent Hills

I really get the feeling this is all just a PR stunt.

'It's just a little dead, Kojimas ties to Konami are frosty as winter and the guy co-producing says it's fucked - it's still good, it's still good'!

konami am kill

really though if this isn't the end for their traditional video games division i don't know what else is

p.t put silent hill back on the map, but they're just strangling it in the crib now

I hope Konami getting out of developing games means they start licensing out their ips. I'd really love to see a ZOE vanity project on PS4.

I knew this was going to happen as soon as the Kojima seperation news came out. Konami decisions seem to point towards very limited game releases (PES?) and nothing else.

You, know I am okay with this, I had already accepted Silent Hill's death since Shattered Memories didn't get a sequel.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but where exactly does it say that the game is cancelled? Del Torro leaving doesn't mean that Silent Hills is dead.

The only hope Silent Hill fans have is if Konami do the franchise the same Sega did with the likes of Bayonetta 2. More or less farm out a licensing agreement to another publisher and developer.

Metal Gear is a safe investment for them, hence continuing it post-MGSV. Rising could be safeish too, as all they'd need to do is commission Platinum to make another one.

I can see Konami doing a 'Sega' and focusing on mobile development now. Unless they already have and I missed it. :/

I don't see that happening. I see them making more money on casinos than mobile games. Konami presents "Craps: Silent Hills Edition" - not an actual game ;(

They have a few titles on iOS, but mobile hasn't been something to shake a stick at unless its your preferred format.

Disappointing.

I don't have a PS4 (and somehow never even got a PS3), so I just created my first PSN account to add P.T. to my downloads, just in case the stars align someday.

Someone hold me and tell me that Kojima and co. actually finished Silent Hills and it's still hidden in PT, but no one has figured out how to unlock it. Please...

It's too bad because PT showed a lot of potential. On the other hand it's better that it's shitcanned now rather than after everyone has seen a demo for it at E3 or something. At this point silent hills was just a concept, who knows if the end product would have lived up to the hype?

So is Konami just done making games after MGS V?

As a fan since the first game this really breaks my heart, me and my sister bought the ps4 for P.T after we heard it was a demo for the new Silent Hil and now I have to tell her it over because I still believed it would've been made even without kojima.

But everyone remmber that a lot of developers are rebooting franchises with a diffrent name for example:
Resident evil/ the evil within.
Clock tower/ night cry.

So I'm still optimistic and I if Kojima is the genuis everyone says he is, he will make the game and call it something else. Part of me wants Nintendo to save it from Konami, fatal frame was saved by them and I don't see why they can't buy the series now that it's dead.

Kojima is leaving the company. Del Toro is not involved with the game anymore. That means both people that were at the helm of the game are gone.

Even if Konami makes a game by the same name, the game we played a teaser for no longer exists.

+ Dead Island / Dying Light

EDIT: I don't see how it would be a good choice to release it on a different platform than PT though.

I dont see how a boycot would solve anything. It would only end up doing more damage.

How did The Evil Within end up selling?

Most of the boycotts are "I'm not buying any more Konami games... after MGSV" so I wouldn't worry because it sounds like no one here is actually boycotting the company.

Clearly, but that's why I find the reactions so confusing in the first place. What exactly were people expecting when Konami axed Kojima?

That he somehow magically still gets to develop the game as a contract worker?
