Not big into online shooters these days and I'll pass on the full game, short of the campaign turning out, but I had fair bit of fun with it.

Needs voice chat, spotting, commo rose; any way to communicate with team mates. Matches where there's two rollers going in the same direction, covering the same streak. What are you doing! Or you see a sniper but you're a roller and can't do anything. Not certain what of this test is in the release. No access to control options or class switching without leaving a group is another puzzling omission.

I also think it's a bit too early to worry about class balance when there are multiple weapons for each type that will be in both the final game and in updates, like heavier shooters, longer range carbine type guns, that delayed air burst gun, sniper rifles with scopes, heavy duty rollers and fast thin rollers, etc.

And preordered, the game is awesome.

The roller is a great noob killer and allow to reverse the situation pretty quickly (dat ulti). It's a free kill tho once you get the hang of it.

This game is far too fast paced and frenetic for voice chat. Some of you can keep crying about the lack of voice chat, but I think the decision was 100% correct.

Although voice chat should have been an option, I agree that it is definitely not needed, at least in Turf War.

I do kinda agree. But I would really love to communicate where the team should focus and such.
Ranked will be five minute matches, right? Would be very useful to have voice chat in Ranked at least.

Still sitting in front of the title screen, ruminating about what just happened, the interplay of systems and classes and geometry and and and.

Left me speechless.

We don't need it for detailed coordination. We need to remind dumb noobs to play the objective and to split up. That much was evident in just the hour we played.

Rollers aren't about killing opponents. They're about painting, you know, the thing that contributes towards winning a match.

Yes but if you kill them, you prevent them from using their paint X many seconds, which allows you to put your paint back on the ground. Killing them is part of the match, you can't just focus on painting the ground. 4 rollers isn't going to be successful in the long-run.

And from what I saw, people were complaining about its ability to OHKO which is one of the things you can easily avoid/prevent by doing what I said. Getting yourself killed before even being able to put ink/paint down only contributes to the Roller's "OPness". Once you deal with the Roller, you have plenty of time to get your ink back down over what they put. And often times, the Roller may not even come back to that spot and go elsewhere.

It's too early to call it OP, simple as that.

How is it 100% correct to not put in an optional feature that could really help a team strategize?

I was murdering cheese rollers the entire time with splat Jr.

But yeah this turf wars mode really favors the rollers still.

In regular team deathmatch you won't get anything with the rollers.

How do you do the special moves? Somebody had a giant paint tornado going on in one of my matches.

Click R3 and your subweapon is replaced with whatever special.

Also the fact that you can see where the other team is going to land when jumping is hilarious.

Sorry that I rolled over you the instant you landed "Matthew"

I was AbbyVamp if anyone played wth me.

It was a pain to hook up my tv and my neck now hurts because of the angle but I wanted to try it so bad and god damn its amazing. Moving in July so maybe I'll get it then if I finally get into a place where I can put my tv up.

So fucking amazing. So much fun and I played the entire hour. Won't play the other times since I now know I like it. Would rather wait to I get the game since I care about stats alot lol.

Edit: Gyro controls ftw.

Also Nintendo please patch in off tv play. I can't even look at the map except when I'm respawning to launch to someone else becuase I'm to focused on tv.

Also, how was the connection for everyone? I got one connection error at the beginning, but smooth connections for the rest of the hour
The first few minutes had people getting connection problems, but everything was smooth after that big burst. No lag happened in any of my matches.

Latency was fine but other people were definitely jerky and sometimes their paint would spawn really late.

Really?

I did not know this, cool.

I need to remember to use that super jump thing. I keep going back to base and just swimming to where I was. Waste of time all because I'm too dumb to use it haha

Yes I do :3

Have I got you on my friend list yet Pad?

Horizon have we added eachother on the U?

Exactly, calling things OP after an hour is never a good idea. Besides I already see the rollers weakness. I was using the Splat Charger at a vantage point and the rollers couldn't even react in time before they were dead. Just hide in the paint, come out to 1 shot.

And then there are the sockets and bonuses from clothing...

Pretty damn fun but...

-Gyro mode SUCKS. I was so relived I could change it.
-The jump button better be able to be remapped
-Needs chat support. I don't talk much online but would have loved to hear some sort of communication going on.
-Sniper needs to be more accurate or scope mode.

Also I see it getting old real fast if there are not more maps.

Scope mode is exclusive to a different version of the splat charger class.
It's in, but as a specific benefit, and they probably won't give it to the entire class.

Took about 3 matches for it to click with me and when it did I started dominating. I'll pick it up day one. Everything is balanced well and I like how you can easily evade most situations by squiding away.
Squiding away... thats something that should be in a gif. Would be perfect.

this game is so good regarding ambushes and flanking and popping up in unexpected positions

So true.

The best feeling kills are when I sneak around the opponents using the ink. It's so great when you realize that the enemy ink isn't just something you need to cover to win, you need to cover it to make sure that no one's going to pop out in your face. It's a twofold incentive and contributes not only to the winning condition but to the vertigo of the game.

I really hope there's some kind of "stealth mode" that will be out down the line. Sneaking in this game is so good.
