Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

has anyone noticed on turf war that people have been waiting till the last minute to do anything? like they just wait, use their rocket specials and expect to win like some kind of strategy, it never works.

I've tried several weapons but I keep going back to the Splattershot jr, Tentatek Splattershot (I love the Inkzooka) or the N-Zap.
Are the other weapons better suited for Splatzones (minus the rollers) or does it just take more time to get used to them?
I can't handle slow fire rates...

Opening gambit makes a pretty noticeable difference.

I wasn't too keen on it originally, but it's really good for Splat Zones.

I also learned that Tenacity activates when the amount of players alive on your team is less than those on the other team. Up until now I always thought it only referred to disconnects. That severely drives up its usefulness to me.

Chargers, the Gal weapons, the Blaster and weapons with Inkstrike are good for splat zones. And yes, they all require practice to get used to them.

Anything with a Sprinklers and Echolocators are like ten times more useful in Splat Zones.

Was playing a ranked match and half way though all of my team mates disappeared, guess they all disconnected or something. Left me playing a 1v4 match. Didn't go well.

I've also seen people wait until the last 3 seconds to release the Killer Wail. Seems kind of meaningless, since it doesn't paint and usually the enemy doesn't get killed until the game has ended.

So I spent 9800 on cool looking pilot goggles with a shitty main skill. Big whoop wanna fight about it?

Doesn't matter in turf wars anyways lol.

Why would you think that? That would make it a terrible ability. Plus it's called tenacity, ie it rewards you for being tenacious.

Apparently the Octolings when unmasked? Saw this on Twitter.

Looks like the OT2 subtitle vote is going to come down to either Walls Don't Count or Prepare to Dye Edition. This is going to be a close one.

What's the general consensus of the life of this game? Apologizing an advance for not reading the 340 pages of this thread. Had some extra cash, bought a WiiU Super Mario 3d Bundle. Mario has been great, Just curious if this game warranted 60 bucks yet.

Totally worth it, and it's only going to get better

Game needs more content but the content that's there is a riot, and there's more where that came from. A lot of "just one more round" impulse games without you realizing. It should last fairly well throughout the summer.

I'm ready to throw my money any time now Nintendo, so prepare the Octoling DLC asap

If you're into online play it definitely is worth it. This is where the meat of the game comes from, and the player base keeps on growing right now.

If not, then check if you're fine with at least 3 hours of single player mode. It's really fun, but it may be too short to keep you entertained.

it was octoling's propaganda...

Didn't take long. Think I'll snag a copy tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies folks.

I found Ninja Squid just ok for guns. But then I applied it to rollers and it really seems to help. My most consistent performances in Turf Wars are with rollers; I think I'm going to go back to them for a little while (probably until I try ranked seriously). Not too sure about Ink Resistance Up for rollers though.

One thing I was pleasantly surprised by is how much depth the game seems to have. I knew I'd like the game before the release, but figured it would be a bit like Titanfall where the gameplay is really fun but would grow stale after a while. But so far that hasn't happened at all despite the low map count.

I'd say it's one of the major must-have Wii U games, up there with Tropical Freeze.

"Active players" is a very vague term that can be taken both ways. The icon isn't that clear at conveying the actual meaning, either. Treehouse should have replaced "active" with "alive" so that there'd be no ambiguity.

And it's not like this game doesn't have its share of useless abilities, in particular the Damage/Defense Up abilities.

Map count means nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Every map in this game is expertly designed and offers incredible depth.
5 Maps of the quality of splatoon are worth more than 20 COD ghost maps.
In fact the familiarity of the maps is what allows even novice players to focus on playstyles and tactics faster.

Hey, even my wife started to play Splatoon on her own accord. I'm coming home from work, looking forward to play some Turfwars... and what do I see. My wife sitting there, playing splatoon getting the hang of the gyro controls and having a blast with the Splattershot Jr. even taking out some fools and concentrating on painting turf..

It then dawned on me what an achievement this game is.

Dammit. You guys are breaking my bank. Got Super Mario 3d World and Nintendoland with the console. Went out of my way to buy Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and the Windwaker Remake. Just about to buy tropical freeze. If I'm honest, I think I may enjoy the virtual console the most..

Splatoon really is the Mario Kart of the genre. Extra mega super addictive. Mechanical perfection.

Oh man, had a match last night in Ranked where Extra Time fucked our team over when it ended right after the other team's score past us by 1 after dropping their penalty timer by +40... this happened all during Extra Time!

The salt was real.

Try out the duel squelcher (the red one). It has a decent fire rate and good range.

Active is more inclusive; it includes both alive and connected players. Plus they called it tenacity. It rewards you for staying alive.

I thought the same yesterday. It wasn't until I've played 20+ hours of this game I kind of realized how incredibly deep the gameplay is, specially for a game with such easy rules. The number of strategies regarding opponents/paint/hiding/weapons/gear/etc seems to have no end.

I played six hours of this game last night. Booooy was it good. The Splattershot Pro drains ink like nobody's business. I played around with it for a bit but I was horrible lol

It's 5 am here and I just finished a long session of ranked matches. This game is pure crack, what have you done Nintendo.

Currently my favorite weapon is the .96 Gal Great combination of power and long range. Love every map so far, they are extremely well done and allow a lot of strategies.

I find it better than Mario Kart online. As frantic, and with no luck involved. I feel like I build more skills each time I play.

Splatoon is the best Wii U game I've played, and already in my top 10 of all time.

Please share! :)
Well Im a Splattershot jr addict, most players seem to use chargers from the periphery, so I ink down the side stand at the edge, then splat bomb the splat zone until my special is full. Bubble up go to the opposing platform, take out the chargers and camp at their sniper position taking them out as they arrive, allowing my team to control the splat zone.

Worked every time apart from the time my team were useless.

I was saying this to folks at work who have no idea what it was. Tried explaining the concept to them but try explaining Splatoon with words without it sounding fucking ridiculous, its tough.
