Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Eh, Project Cars just happend, has more than 24 cars on track and rain. Its not running at a stable 60FPS but 1st party games are usually better optimized, so why shouldn't FM6 be able to pull it off?
I expect them to pull it off with graphics comparable or even better than Project Cars.

Project Cars isn't stable 60fps, and isn't 1080p though. Not that I'm saying they can't pull it off, but Project Cars really didn't come anywhere close.

One of my biggest issues with F5 was the track list. Looks like the track list will be far far better in F6, and with 26 locations confirmed, its almost but not quite on the level of PCars. This is what it could look like.

lol @ the 50 fps. Also, it better look breathtaking. Driveclub has certainly upped the ante. That's not to say I expect Driveclub-level graphics as DC was 30 fps and this will be 60, but I would certainly like to see more attention paid to the rain tech this time around.

Driveclub has very little going on in the physics department compared to Forza, is 30 FPS, and is on better hardware. Driveclub's focus is on visuals and simplicity, you can't expect graphics like that from Forza 6. I wouldn't even expect it to look as good as Horizon 2 but that's not a big deal considering all the other improvements listed in this thread.

Isn't going to happen but one can hope.

With a pot hole like that on an asphalt race track i'd be worried lol

The more I think about it, the more I'm really hyped for this game. I'm just really happy/excited for X1 this fall. I've been more focused on the Wii U/ PC, but at this rate, X1 def is where I'll be spending most my time during this holiday. This new Forza game does sound killer.

It was already my #2 most anticipated game this year. (Next to P5), but for me, Forza usually is. If XBO wasn't $500 at launch last year, I probably would have bought one first over a PS4.

There was a rumor a while back that the guys Turn 10 rely on for track rendering also did a render for Monza. Hopefully that gets added in, along with most or all of the tracks from 4 that got cut (I just want Motegi and Sonoma to return, IMHO).

Personally I hope they expand the type of racing in the Forza series. Specifically to rally, they have the car selection already and the options to customise cars for it and it is a series that is competing directly with the likes of GT and something the the game is severely lacking.

Hopefully Fujimi Kaido and Maple Valley will be back in the game as well.

I agree

Personally I think you guys are overestimating how difficult it is to animate rain + effects.

PGR4 is a good example of 3D puddles, the car wheels would actually sink into the puddle to give it a realistic depth, a lot of games just use textures and the car never bumps or sinks into the road water.

Sometimes the sand in racing games does the same effect, it really should be more common.

I remember how some people thought the terrain deformation in Motorstorm was gonna be a game changer.

Hell yea. 2015 is probably my best gaming year of all time, beating 2007. FM6, Halo 5, ROTR, Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, Witcher 3, Batman AK, MGS V TPP, Cities Skylines, and I am sure I am missing another few must-play games and some that are unannounced. Jesus Christ, I thought I could not be more excited for E3. Can't wait to see FM6. Hoping the demo starts with an intense race at Nordschleife in pouring rain and thunders.

Yeah I expect Monza to be in there, that has been rumored since 2012 that it had been laser scanned - I was surprised it wasnt in F5 as DLC tbh. Agreed on the cut tracks from F4. Rally Di Postiano, Fujimi, Sonoma, Tsukuba, Suzuka, Camino Viejo are all great tracks and should be in F6, atleast as DLC. With Rio in there, we might even see a return of Tokyo and New York (please T10)

This is fantastic news if true. Playing Forza 5, you quickly start to want more tracks. I'd love to see dirt/snow tracks (where you can use any car on any tires) and hillclimbs.

pcars is multiplatform and also chose to have a dynamic lighting for day night cycles instead of baked lighting tracks like forza.

Being multiplatform is a valid excuse for meh performance? yeah I know more platforms = resources being spread but that doesn't make unacceptable performance acceptable. honestly Pcars and FM can trade blows all day but it doesn't really get anyone anywhere....unless someone is asking for a comparison which I don't see here.

Meanwhile everyone ignored Sega Rally Revo, where it actually was.

Sega Rally Revo did it well too, sometimes too well. . I remember getting caught in those mud terrain areas and cripping my speed to where my 1st place lead would turn to shit. LOL. Revo did it so right. Taking those areas with the mud deformation was nasty, gave it a sense of suspense and caution.

Doesn't excuse the crappy AI and CPU drivers being able to take lines that are impossible for the player to take.

I wanted to post the following, but couldn't since I was at work...

Does Forza 6 represent the first sequel for a next gen exclusive title?

It could be why there is such a jump in car count and the addition of wet tracks and night time racing while maintaining 1080p and 60fps. I am not sure what DX12 adds, I am sure it does something, but I think the main reason is that it represents Turn 10's second game on the console (not including their involvement in Forza Horizon 2) and historically T10 has made big leaps on their second game on a console, in addition to their prowess.

I think so, closest thing I can think of would be The Show but even that's cross-gen.

I am just hoping for a clean image quality. That is one thing visually that mainline Forza games have had issues with is the implementation of decent AA to counter the jaggies.

Is any of that worth it if it makes your performance target completely pointless? Find a better solution... murdered performance in a racing games makes the game a complete skip for me on console. I figured I'd just wait for Forza to do it right and it looks like my patience will pay off.

Just bring back classic fake tracks from 3 and 4 please...

Also fictional tracks from Forza 1.

Here is my list of tracks/environments that were not in F5 that I hope are in F6:

Maple Valley
Alpine Ring
Fujimi Kaido
Amalfi Coast
Camino Viejo
New York Circuit
Sunset Peninsula
Sedona Raceway
Infineon Raceway
Suzuka
Mugello

What I don't want and despise are the Test Tracks that they count as tracks. Even the Top Gear ones I really disliked.

If sidewinder shows up I will riot.

lmfao. I was trying to remember the name of the other test track and that is the one I really despised...Sidewinder and all of it's variants. I just don't get those tracks, there were not fun and rarely did I play them on-line since no body liked them. I hope they stay WAY clear from Sidewinder and the like.

The hell are 3D puddles
Do I drive in them and my car just falls into a portal to another dimension?

What on earth does 3d puddles mean?

I really can not wait to learn what a 3d puddle actually is.

Suck a silly thing to put on your feature check list.

It means water pooling up on the track, ie: not just a wet surface on the track, but some parts/sections of a track will have more water on them than others which will affect handling. That's what it sounds like from the limited information we have. It may just be a visual effect or it may affect handling, we don't know yet.

Every time driveclub is mentioned a baby seal dies.

Yeah I knew what to expect from this thread sadly. People drawing conclusions from next to no information, the "I doubt it will look better than Driveclub" posts etc. The only thing that's missing is our favourite Forza troll, Xanadu.

Really though, I'm so fucking pumped for this. It looks on target to exceed my expectations. I honestly wasn't sure if they could squeeze wet weather and night racing in and get it to run at 60fps, but by the sounds of it they have which is awesome. I hope they're really going to raise the bar with Forza 6. Looking forward to an expanded career mode, racing with the ForzaGAF crew, the photomode thread...can't wait for E3.

Between Forza Horizon and mainline Forza, racing fans on the X1 are spoilt for choice. Kudos T10.

I've made the setup investment in Forza and Turn 10 is delivering. Can't wait for E3. Hell I can't wait for next years E3 for Horizon 3. Keep em coming...

Sure, but then there's no point in bringing up PCars as an example, when its design choices cause perfoemance that would be completely unacceptable in a Forza title. I appreciate Forza for what it doesn't do, as much as what it does.

How do you like the Challenge so far?

The Alcantara suede is nice. Unit is portable and folds up rather easy which is why I got it. My main con is its a little on the narrow side. If you aren't a particularly slim fellow you may find it bit uncomfortable.
