Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 |OT| This is a fantasy based on feedback.

Tried a bit. Definitely like how smoother the combat is, and I like how the direction you hold while in the ravage state dictates how Noctis will attack.

Is the manual warp dodge still available like in 1.0, or did it get taken out in favor of the dodge roll. I like it waaaaaaay more than the dodge roll because I could actually force counterattacks by doing that, and it doesn't seem like you can with the dodge roll.

It's gone as far as I can tell, unless there is a new command to trigger that.

Sampled it earlier. I enjoyed 1.0 but this is a whole 'nother league.

Please don't let me down Square. Please tell a good story. Please.

I wonder if they'll take in more feedback for Duscae 2.0. Now that most of the combat issues I've are alleviated, I'm going to emphasize on the importance of good quest and open world design.

Games to take inspiration from for these aspects:

Witcher 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Morrowind
Gothic 1&2

Games to NOT take inspiration from for these aspects:

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Xenoblade Chronicles
Ubisoft games

The combat certainly feels much better and those chain attacks are a welcome addition, I was hoping for some frame rate fixes as well but I guess I'll take anything that improves the demo overall. Pity we cant tame thise damned chocobos though for geting around.

Then you're involved with Kojima's upcoming secret title after departure from Konami.

Huge news.

EARTH IS NOT THE ONLY PLANET WE HAVE WORK COMING FROM

OKAY?

OKAY?

IS THAT FULL DISCLOSURE ENOUGH?

p.s. currently posting from Ganymede internet here sucks send help

Episode Duscae shows promise as far side quest design is concerned.Integrating a Behemoth hunt into the main quest(fixing your car ) is a smart way of making hunts more interesting and rewarding.

Let's be honest though, proper sidequest design has never been the focus of FF and almost always felt like throwaway end game filler.

Its important to note that Neither Tabata nor Nomura ever really talked in detail about sidequest and NPC interactions.

That's actually really beautiful

Oh and I'm really liking the the way the game feels in the update, it's certainly lighter.
I hear Ganymede is nice.

I remembered of another issue I had yesterday:

Assigning different weapons to different attack types really doesn't influence combat enough or at all really. They seem completely interchangable without changing how battles play out. Yes some are slower or faster and the Zweihander ignores defense for example, but in the end you can just hold square and dodge or use a skill every now and then. It's just another gameplay system that's included just because they could and has no real impact on the game.

Nice try. You're bad at NDA. Don't believe Falk's lies.

Is Ganymede open world ?

If all side quests (well most at least) are basically the same length and scope as the main quest of the demo then I will be happy. If most are like the side quest of the demo then that'll be disappointing. The best side quests are when they have a unique story or unique area to do.

FFX,despite being labeled as LINEAR ZOMG,actually has great sidequests/side areas.

Things like the cavern of the stolen fayth(lulu character development) and Baaj Temple(Seymour/Anima character development) and Omega ruins(more background/lore) are the way to do it.

FFXV should do more sidequests like this ,but they should be deeper, and more numerous.

L1 = all purpose don't get hit button. I'm officially with the program.

I see some people saying Noct's voice sounds different and others aren't. It's still gravely but a bit clearer and younger.

I just want more monster hunts.
Not everyone of them with the same level of attention to detail as Deadeye, but smaller one like (again) FFXII would be a nice timesink. Maybe keep a big one for each area.

Alright, time to give this a go. Should I be starting over, or reloading my save can still let me see all the new stuff? Are there any new tutorials that I can miss if I don't restart from the beginning?

Pretty much it tells you there's a manual dodge

Considering how much you're into combat mechanics though I think you'd probably get a lot out of restarting and seeing how things play pre/post armiger. It's VERY different.

Alright thanks.

Does the second version of Episode Duscae live up to the promises Square Enix has made? I think so. We've got huge improvements to the camera and targeting as well as significant additions to the battle system, and with combat making up such a big part of Final Fantasy games, it's exciting to see these cool systems play out. And with four main characters as visibly invested in each other as XV's heroes, I'm optimistic for a promising story.

I wonder if they can really push it to 1080p. It looks amazing, feels good. now give me 30 stable fps and full hd and good god.

Hmm, PS4 is up and running, but the Xbox One demo has disappeared from my system and isn't showing up in the download list either. That's not right...

FFXV now a PS4 exclusive. Confirmed.

Please do a comparison between PS4 1.0 vs 2.0 for frame rate and any upgrades along the way :D

I also had a few. Enemies freezing and not reacting anymore, and one enemy's model completely disappeared while I could still fight and damage it. That didn't happen to me in 1.0
Yeah. I also had sound glitches, a glitch where the game still thought and item was still on the ground and some bad cloth clipping at one point. Rushed patch? Lol

The game also seems to run louder for me, especially when I started a new game, during the tent cutscene.

Could just be my PS4 though since it happens with some other games as well. It's due for a repair or replacement It's only a few months old but I already have the infamous eject disc problem.

That probably was in 1.0 but in the sequence where you squeeze through the tight spot in Deadeyes lair (I hate these kind of sequences btw), half of Noctis' body pretty much clips through a wall.

I'd prefer the lock-on just be activated from clicking R3 but they seem to insist on doing it this way.

Yeah, I feel like having two buttons dedicated to lock-on is a waste, not to mention there are other potential features such as swapping weapon loadout or weapon abilities on a fly that would take up the limited amount of buttons on a controller.

While the combat certainly feels faster now, I feel like they should still tone down the amount of enemies we encounter at a time. It's approaching Musou level now in terms of enemy count as they keep coming in swarm, making it chaotic, hard to play tactically and at our own pace.

Also the fight against Catoblepas. Come on Tabatha, just give us the ability to climb the beast like Dragon's Dogma already. It's screaming to be scaled.
