Dumpster as in bad. Which they are in Smash 4.

It's been said long before the reveal, but it's still pretty awesome to have Ryu added to the roster. Indifferent on Roy, but I'm still picking up the characters when they're available.

Wow, people are upset about Ryu making it? He makes far more sense than Solid Snake from last gen...
Absolutely agree. The argument for me at least doesn't have to do with his popularity. Ryu is easily one of the most recognizable video game characters on the planet. Snake is also very recognizable but he's more associated with the playstation brand. I'd expect to see him in the next PSABR.

Crash Bandicoot is one of the most popular/recognizable sony characters despite not having a game in quite some time. There's also some Crash games on Nintendo platforms but I don't think it would make sense to put him in a game also known as Nintendo all-stars

I think Focus Attack has already been confirmed as one of Ryu's special moves, but imagine if that was just his forward smash. Super armor on charged smashes.

SAKURAI THERE'S STILL TIME. REPLACE ROY WITH ELIWOOD AND ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN.

God, I hate Roy so much.

Azuran Pls.

I love the stylized Street Fighter series icon.

Yeah, I didn't expected that they would go with that logo.

Mega dissapointing the alt costumes for Ryu are his SF4 customers instead of Ken, Akuma and Dan palletes

Well, those colors were SF2 alt colors.

Been a while since I updated this.

Good Job. Do you have any standby avatar of Roy?

Super Smash Bros. is a Nintendo fighting game. Who would have thunk? I'm not against Ryu's inclusion, but I'm not going to judge people who are.

I just checked with Google and I just turned the game on and played it.

It's still a Nintendo fighter, even after the 3rd party inclusions, pretty crazy!

Seriously, who gets mad at new characters, no matter who they are?

Smash fans, they even get mad when characters AREN'T cut, had a lenghty discussion with a friend who was pissed that jigglypuff was going to be back and not mewtwo (before they anounced him), so i basically went "well, i hope they remove your favorite character too".

I made him eat crow when they anounced Mewtwo and there was no need to cut anybody for that to happen.

Can't check right now since im away from home, but how many does Wario have?

4 for each of WarioWare and classic, as well. They actually reduced the amount of colours for him, in Brawl he had 6 for each of the costume versions.

IIRC Little Mac is the only character who has more than 8 alternate colours/costumes.

He doesn't, only his SF2 alt colors.

Yeah, just went back through the thread and saw the picture. That sucks. I can see why they went with the SF2 alts, it makes sense but I like when alts reference other characters. They could have at least had Ken be an alt, they've got his trophy in the game with the patch too. A little Olimar/Alph kind of thing.

Eh, oh well. Ryu is still hype.

Smash Bros fans. Still convinced Smash has one of the worst communities, at least the worst fighting game community. Between bitching about their favourite characters not being in and shitting on Brawl it's pretty terrible.

I hope Ryu's amiibo is used in other games.

Ryu Yoshi in Woolly World
Ryu costume for Mario Kart 8
Ryu headband for Splatoon

Hey dumbass, Ryu and Roy leaked only a few weeks after the reveal of the Smash Ballot. They weren't going to pick characters based upon only that long of balloting.

Something so beautiful about Ryu joining Smash, from a character concept standpoint, is here is a guy who trains endlessly, always seeking stronger opponents, joining world tournaments to prove to himself that he's the best.

Now that he's conquered the World Warriors, he turns his flinty gaze to the Nintendo multiverse.

Nintendo had a big exclusive deal with Capcom for a while on SNES

it's like they want non-Nintendo gamers to get interested or something :P

I am a bit surprised with some of the negative reaction to both Ryu and Roy :l.

Ryu represents a massive shift in the gaming world in the form of Street Fighter II; that game established the foundation for many, many future fighting games and it cemented the series as an important milestone in gaming. Not to mention, like others here pointed out, the many versions of SFII sold very well on Nintendo platforms and SFIV's 3DS port sold really well at the systems launch. The series has a place with Nintendo and to me personally, fits a lot more within the Smash-verse then Solid Snake ever did; a few NES games and a remake/port of the original MGS on the GC....and a 3DS port of MGS3....and that's it :l.

Roy is in a similar spot like Mewtwo and Lucas; a cut character that many missed, so bringing him back is not only for the fans of Smash but is also very easy to make (as they don't have to do that much in bringing him into Smash 4; porting over assests/movement/animations/ect from Melee and Brawl). Granted, we already got a 'clone' of Marth through Lucina but Roy has differences (even if isn't that much :l).

Either way, really excited about this news and while I would have liked others to join the roster (Chors Kids would have been cool, Ice Climbers would have been a nice return, Eggman would be really interesting with his moveset, Shantae and Shovel Knight would have been great reps for Nintendo's Indie Partners :D), I am buying the DLC cast the moment they launch :).

What happened to Street Fighter and Nintendo after the SNES? Did SFIV on the 3ds get properly updated or did Capcom just completely ignore it after it launched? Did that success lead to a Wii U port? Nope, Street Fighter has almost been completely divorced from Nintendo since the SNES days and is going to be Sony exclusive for the next 5 years.
