This is a big deal and game changer for many people on GAF who find the feature useful and those gamers should be happy. I'm not sure how much of a game changer this will be beyond that.
The PS3 allowed full BC with the PS1 and PS2 which made for a massive library. They had it at launch and it did not allow it to move more consoles than the 360 at the start. It was a feature Sony felt comfortable dumping and it did nothing to the PS3 sales.
Big news on GAF does not always equal big news to the general gaming public but that shouldn't stop anyone from being happy about this.
Hopefully MSFT does it right and has a large library of 360 games.
That's a small list of games that work, I sure it will improve but that's even less than 360 BC start I think.
If the 360 RPGs are compatible I will trade it in this weekend for the Xbone.
People are forgetting this.
Now I won't need to buy gears hd. Unless you pop in gears 1 and get gears HD for free
Considering how the PS3 launched with full access to the entire PS2 library and it struggled out of sales gate (for a lot of reasons, obviously), I kind of think he might be right. Backwards compatibility is definitely welcomed, but I don't know if this will move that many more units.
We even still have people today who dont know that all PS3's play PS1 discs. Backwards compatability doesnt penetrate the casual crowd and has never been a selling factor.
its an option, and options are nice.
BC has never historically been anything close to a "game changer" so I'm confused as to the people who think this will in any way affect the Xbox's market position.

they clearly stated during the conference that more will be added frequently
I thought there were 100 compatible games?
*if the pubs/devs allow it
**if the pubs/devs still exist
***if the game doesn't have licensing issues
This is backwards compatibility like the 360 had if people weren't aware. Not 100% and will cover specific games, otherwise all the "this game will be work with backwards compatibility" wouldn't matter.
WORKS WITH DISKS!!!!!???????
Wait I can get my buddy's copy of NHL 15 and download it on my system and then just give it back to him and he should be able to do the same?

That's sweet now Sony better respond with at least ps1/ps2 compatibility
Don't belittle him for being a junior, he's right. It might be an awesome feature, but it isn't a game changer.
how is it "important"? its a neat thing for people who believe that once something new comes out it negates the previous.
My 360 is still hooked up. its a cool choice to have it on the One. choices are nice, but its not mind blowing.
It was always possible, not for all games though.Like WTF
Why is this possible all of a sudden?
