Shenmue III is already the fastest to a million by quite a ways.

Fastest funded is a matter of so many data points, that it is hard to quantify. Is a game that has a goal of 50,000 the same as 2mm? Definitely not.

That said, this is the fastest to $1MM and will almost certainly be funded by tomorrow night at the absolute latest...

After Valkyria Chronicles smashed sales expectations for then I wouldn't be shocked hearing more ports and seeing how Shenmue 3 is doing, the remasters aren't out of the question.

Does anybody feel that the Kickstarter page seems half-hearted? The video is semi-professional, the voice acting in the footage is terrible (or is that intended) and the reward tiers aren't very appealing either. Look at how well the Bloodstained Kickstarter was run.

I certainly wish Yu Suzuki best of luck and hopefully he will turn it into a great game but so far I'm not impressed, sorry. (I have to admit I was never a big Shenmue fan though)

I don't see Sony's name anywhere on this kickstarter, do you? People are throwing assumptions around but it's just as reasonable to assume they don't care about the Xbox because they're a tiny team and the X1 was dead on arrival in Japan. You don't need conspiracy theories, it hardly gets anything Japanese-developed.

Because Sony will probably publish the game in some way. Come on, $2 million for this game won`t nearly be enough. Didn`t the first game on Dreamcast have a 70 million budged or something? Microsoft knew the demand for Shenmue 3, and they obviously didn`t give a shit. They also have way more money than Sony.

If Yu Suzuki would have never gotten the chance to finish this, Shenmue's failure would have been his legacy. No matter how much Sega fans like me would have remembered how outstanding his career was, he would have forever been known for not finishing his greatest work.

I am so happy that Yu Suzuki gets to rewrite his legacy.

Let's be real, though. No Kickstarter game ever meets its release date. December 2017 will turn into November 2018 in a hurry. Patience will be necessary.

If you waited 14 years already I wouldn't mind waiting 5 more to get the game I want.

Yes. And yes. A lot of kickstarters are certain hardware exclusive and the other hardwares are added on as "Stretch goals" or just announced later or (or not at all).
